What really gets me about the talk about donating to the band as alumni is how many band alumni don’t give back. How many people have marched for the blue and gold over the years? I’m sure the number is close to 3k, if each of those graduates gave $100 that would $300K. Seems like band alumni don’t care about current student needs🤷🏾♂️

No B&GMM in Greenville? Dang...I might have to reconsider. As much I was anticipating them doing a carbon copy of what they did to uncc last year. What about ALL these sold out homecoming(s). Does some of that go towards the band program? And the only conference away games are BCU, Del St., Sav. St., and central. Definitely no need to goto either Del or Sav. Majority of their games are aggie Stadium. At least allocate some funds and send them to G Vegas. They knew 2 years ago they would be playing ecu. Why not go ahead and plan and save some of that $$$$$ they have. Didn't the band go to just about every single away game last year if not all? There wasn't a problem then was it?

Can't compare what band students go through to what a football team goes through , the majority of the time for band is spent indoors ,sitting down in a air conditioned environment . If Band camp is like it was when i marched that is debatable. Exactly we were never inside

But this is a problem across the board with all alumni. The vast majority of us just don't give back. I think part of the problem is the University has done a lousy job preparing students to donate before they graduate and soliciting them once they become alumni. If you want alumni to donate, you got to start emphasising how important it is when they are students. Most students will ignore you but some will remember it later and contribute. Second, you've got to regularly remind alumni why it's important to give and how to give. Oh by the way, you've got to make it easy to give.

The East Carolina game is less about money than performance time. ECU has scheduled their "High School Band Day" for that game and A&T will not be allocated time on the field at halftime to perform. So we would basically take our band to Greenville to play in the stands. And if you have attended any PWI games, they limit your playing time in the stands around their commercials. UNC-C last year allowed us to do our thing and we showed up and showed out. ECU isn't going to let that happen to them and they've structure that gameday to make sure.

Well unless they come up with some travel money, they will be performing alone.

I have lost all respect for ECU. Growing up in NC I always not rooted for them because they were the underdogs, not anymore. They ruin a great game atmosphere, I'll watch on TV. Good Luck Aggies and please kick their a--!

And that is why i said in my original post I am calling bull on ECU. They constructed high school band because they were threatened by our attendance. The argument that they are concerned about the gate is weak too, our band's attendance would have strengthened the gate. When was the last time A&T performed down east? I looked their schedule, I would like to love to see how our numbers compare against their other home games. Man, I want our football to run them out of their own house.

What are they sposed to do? Cater to our desires?
Man please, I ain't mad at them for looking out for their own best interests. They're not supposed to help us out in any way. They have a game to try to win. We already went down there and beat them at basketball. Can you imagine if we beat them at Dowdy-Ficklin and our band was down there playing the whole time? Folk would be FIRED for letting that happen as they dang well should be.

ECUs AD ain't going to let that happen again. Hell, UNC-C tried to keep the A&T Band away by charging them a fee to perform. And some darn A&T alumni donated the money for their tickets and the rest is YouTube history. Ain't going to happen at ECU.
