There is absolutely no reason to force any college student to practice something from 6 AM to 9 PM. You're talking about a 15 hour work day just to learn some damn music. The adults in charge need to do a better job of time management. Band Camp is like boot camp for the military. It's where band students learn the majority of the songs they will play during the season and how to march as a unit. It takes this amount of commitment to be a top marching band. That's why former band members are so loyal and supportive of the Band. We know how hard these kids work to perform for us on Saturday. A decade ago football teams used to have two-a-day practices, way more contact drills and the players were insufficiently hydrated. Times changes. Concepts evolve. People innovate. The band can do the same.

ECU studied video of the UNC Charlotte game last year. They saw the mistake that was made by the UNCC program. We turned their stadium into a home game for us. Although that would be difficult to do in Greenville, still an edge is an edge, and they are not trying to give us that. I don’t think a halftime performance turns it into a home game, that is 7!minutes. The band playing in the stands is what turns it into a home game.

The you tube videos is obvious. Plus, my focus is gaining an edge in any capacity.

What about us alumni doing a "go fund me" account . Sometimes we got to put our money where our mouth is . Be careful with Go Fund Me accounts going towards the university. Those things have to be approved by the appropriate party first.

The band in the stands is what we need, for those who've never been to a ECU game, they are nastier than NCCU, on high octane alcohol. The band would benefit us greatly.

Can't compare what band students go through to what a football team goes through , the majority of the time for band is spent indoors ,sitting down in a air conditioned environment .

That is what a band supporter said. Not me.

The Band Season is upon us, and Band Camp is necessary for INCOMING FRESHMEN! ( CRABS as they were known back in the DAY) There is a lot of Work to be done to prepare for an UPCOMING SEASON! Exercise, Marching Drills, Music to be Memorized, Formations, Individual Section Rehearsal(Cold Steel, Golden Delights, Tuba Section and various other Sectional), and various other performance's prior to Football Season! Attendance, Punctuality, Discipline, Dedication, ALL MOST OF THE MARCHING BAND MEMBERS are Volunteering their Time and Energy.

The team will be there and so will some Aggie football fans. But travel, hotel and meal expenses for 250 band members will run over $50,000. And the JSU contract didn't include travel funds for our band. The band travel budget is limited and it doesn't make sense to spend it all on one game. As for ECU, why pay that expense just to play two or three songs in the stands? ECU moved their "high school band day" up because they thought the crowd would be light. So halftime will be a mass band that includes the ECU band and some high school bands. We don't want to play under those conditions. I am calling bull on ECU. All them black folks in eastern NC are excited about A&T coming. And we know every black student at ECU will be attendance. ECU is doing what State and UNC does to them. But that’s cool, can’t wait until we establish GreenSBORO east. I understand that there are a lot of folks in Eastern North Carolina that are going to be disappointed because the band isn't going to Greenville. And for all those Black Students at ECU, I have one suggestion...hop in your car and check out the Blue & Gold Marching Machine in Aggie Stadium! I understand everyone's disappointment but budgets are tight. Dr. Martin and the University Administration is doing a lot for the band but like every department on campus, funds are limited and choices have to be made. I've been begging alumni for decades to give more to the band but that hasn't happened. By the way, we need to expand our band student scholarship funds more than our travel budget. I like for the good folks in Eastern North Carolina to be entertained but I'd prefer for the kids in our band to get much needed scholarship dollars so they can stay in school and graduate.

Those things have to be approved by the appropriate party first. We got a "go fund me account"...it's in the upper right hand corner of the A&T website and it says "Give to A&T." I've been asking people to go there and give. I think the first two away games are off the books for the band this year but if you want to really step up and support the band, here's how: 1. Join the Blue & Gold Loyalty Foundation...it's the band booster organization and it costs only $40 2. Join the "Elite 100" club by donating $100 to the band boosters 3. Go to the A&T website and sign up as a monthly contributor to the "Each One Reach One" Emergency band scholarship fund 4. Buy a big stack of raffle tickets for the GHOE TV giveaway. 5. And if you are in a real giving mood, make a donation to the "Clarence Fisher Endowed Band Scholarship Fund" My grandkids would appreciate that!

My point was to say they don't spend all of their time outside like the football team .

We're not saying band camp is as challenging as football camp or Army boot camp, but it ain't all casual days under the bandroom AC.
