4X didn't tell or point out anything that has not been discussed or pointed out over 50 pages back . Tell us something that we don't already know . Like why are they afraid to discuss the field publicly. I have said this before " Secrets can be an addictive drug " Great question. I wanted turf when I was there but besides the price tag, the track was the excuse for not moving forward. Being able to throw the javelin in the stadium apparently made for must see viewing...

It's times like this when it is tough to remain a Aggie diehard. Institutional incompetence is something I just can't wrap my head around. All these years I've been hoping that the infamous javelin excuse was just some urban legend. SMH.

Institutional incompetence is something I just can't wrap my head around. All these years I've been hoping that the infamous javelin excuse was just some urban legend. SMH. I tried to tell yall it was the javelin several years ago, LOL. And since we got 4XL engaged now, I have a question. Was the rumor about turfing the practice fields true? Because if so, none of it made sense to me. If you turf the practice fields the discus and hammer are now on turf, which negates the argument about the javelin being the reason to not put turf inside. Hosting those USATF track meets brings A&T a lot of money. They last several days with a lot of entry fees. Like it or not, we have to find a solution/location for the javelin, discuss, and hammer throw along with a synthetic surface football field. We have the space to make the back corner(near the cell tower) a "throwing" area. Not sure why it isn't the solution? We would lose some tailgate area and some type of indoor facility where softball is would never happen after that, but hey. Or make the throwing area where softball is since we now have War Memorial. USATF rule book:"Synthetic surfaces are not allowed in USATF because they tend not to absorb the energy of the implement(discuss, shot, javelin) and allow it to skip further." They also dont leave good markings for measurement when the implements hit the surface.

Time to start shaking hands and working towards a new football only facility then (or football and soccer or whatever).

We dont have any skilled hand shakers in the athletic department. That is the problem.

They also dont leave good markings for measurement when the implements hit the surface. Don't know that turfing the practice fields was ever an option. My take on it was that if you turf the stadium field you can hold practices inside the stadium which leaves the practice fields free to do any and all of the other field events including an area for the javelin. Also I don't know if A&T gets a portion of the entry fees since USTAF is renting the facility. Just a thought.

We dont have any skilled hand shakers in the athletic department. That is the problem. You’ve always been a skilled handshaker. Hence the hairy palms and glasses. Jokes aside, the damn school sells itself at this point. Plus now we’re a CAA school. We’re theoretically exposed to a good portion of the east coast regardless of race.

The javelin excuse is not an urban legend and is reasonable concerning it not being ok to do on a "synthetic" field (same with discus and shot put). The point is that they can be done on the practice field just like they were done the year graduation was done on the football field (2021, I think). If we ever put a practice facility in that area (practice and softball fields), another area would need to be identified. It's a little far, and y'all might think I'm crazy, but the Holland Bowl might work if there's no room outside the stadium in the current tailgate area.

Why in the world would you hold a satellite track and field event all the way across campus in the Holland Bowl?
How would that be advantageous?

Optimize Truist for track and build a football only facility across 29.
You wanna win a track national championship? Show folk a 20,000 seat track and field venue with its own field house, ample parking, and ridiculous luxury suites.
And muddy field, lol.
Bring any recruit there and say "this is our track facility." They gone be like "you mean football, right?" And you gone be like "nope, this is all track and field. And your parents can sit right up there." And the coaches point at the press box. And they gone be like "Arkansas who?"
Start from ground zero with a properly planned and constructed turf field for other sports with good access and parking and a two story field house (with classrooms so the state pays for it) and a band room across 29.
I know, I'm dreaming.

I thought someone said the softball field is being moved over to behind War Memorial.
That might have just been a westcoastaggie dream project, but I swear I remembering hearing that a few months ago.
