It probably didn't take much. When you're 5-17 (22.7% winning percentage).....and that's on top of 2 consecutive 9-23 seasons......why would anyone in their right mind want to come here and play under Cy and his current staff?? The results (or lack thereof) speak for themselves.

We need to look at this kid in VA, Travis Fields. He is a small guard under 6' however this kid plays with unbelievable heart and can carry a team on both ends of the floor. He is uncommitted for 2016. I have forwarded his info to our MBB but really hoping they give him a look.
He was 4A state POY last year after leading his team to state title. Will most likely garner that award again this year. Team is currently 20-1. Really hoping we gove this kid a look. I view as a basketball tarik cohen. He is being overlooked because of size. But he has rhe intangibles of heart, hustle, leadership that comes with a player goinf for his 3rd state title in high school.

I've been thinking to myself.........Who is doing the recruiting for next year now that Joyner is head coach? Do they go hard for next yrs. playas w/interim tag as opposed to "permanent" HC? Does recruiting suffer because the attention is on winning NOW because, ultimately, that will prolly determine who be HC? These kinda things are interesting and intangibles can come into play.

Yes, they both have signed. The early date for basketball is in October. The normal signing date after then is April.

Whoever the new coach will be, should have three open scholarships, available to him, barring any current players possibly transferring.

I don't care if over 80% of the team transferred. We need some legitimate DI difference makers. Ain't too many I see on our bench.....

When that APR report shows up, you'll probably be singing a different tune.

I hear what you're saying.....my overall point was we don't have dudes that can make huge differences on the win-loss ledger for us.....

If we continue to sign players at this point, I think we are feeding into the 20+ years of futility. Let's select a coach and let him build a team around his philosophy, using existing players that want to be a part of the new program. Most importantly, the new coach needs to be able to bring in legitimate MEAC D1 "difference makers". The coaching decision will be difficult and still risky to some degree.
