They are more interested in Deion's personal brand and the allure of a Power 5 program. Which is EXACTLY why he shouldn't be allowed to represent JSU in the Celebration Bowl. As I said in my previous post, it's ALWAYS been about Deion's brand. Always. I would not be shocked if the Celebration Bowl will be transformed into a three hour long Deion commercial. The focus won't be on JSU or the future of JSU football (and poor little NCCU will be completely lost in the mix). This will be about Deion and it's essentially a promotional tool for CU football and the coach who is headed their way. I'd be shocked if any JSU player who is headed to CU with Deion remains in the game past the second half. This game was always a celebration of the teams, the talent, the schools, and the legacy of HBCU football. Next Saturday, I am afraid the focus will be on Colorado's next head football coach....and that's a shame and does nothing for JSU or HBCU athletics.

I honestly could care less that he is taking a more high profile job with a massive salary bump. I get it. But I also get what Bomani is saying too. But here's what I haven't heard addressed yet....HOW IN THE HELL is he being allowed to coach JSU in the Celebration Bowl?? Dude has been on CU's campus, wearing CU paraphernalia, actively recruiting CU players...and yet he is allowed to represent JSU on national television?? Is he going to wear a CU sweatshirt on the sidelines of the CB too?? JSU have some respect for yourself. Sheesh. Dude said he is gone and has been seen in public with his next employer....let him BE GONE. Like another job , hegave his two or three week notice ππ€£π . That's how he is able to coach in the CB . The kicker is if he was to lose to NCCU like he did to SCSU. Personally I think NCCU will win . I picked SCSU last year and some called me crazy π€ͺon here π Nah...he's already working for his next employer. Again, wearing their paraphernalia, recruiting for them, etc. Name me another instance where something like this took place. Most school's would NEVER allow this to happen. In fact, this development adequately sums up what was problematic about Deion's hire from the start....it's ALWAYS been about Deion. Not the program. Not JSU. Not HBCU football. He has not "earned the right" to publicly and fully embrace his next employer and STILL coach and interact with JSU student-athletes and no self respecting program or school would allow that to happen. Name me another scenario where a coach has been announced on the campus of his next employer and goes on to coach his former team in a bowl game. Most coaches in that scenario would defer to the institution and step down immediately or at least have the decency to make the announcement AFTER the bowl game is over.

One of the best things I love about it is how it provides a layer of complexity to the Star Wars canon. Over the years we have reduced Star Wars to a story of Jedis and the force against the evil Empire. Light sabers and Storm Troopers. Then this series comes along and shows us that there are actual people within the universe who are trying to survive this saga on a daily basis. Fighting back....without light sabers or any mention of the force.
Like I said, its a political drama and it developed into a damn good one too. Great acting. Great writing.

Yup. Felt the same way when it first started, but it REALLY picks up after about the 3rd episode. I have about three episodes left and I hear that it only gets better. I'm kinda feeling it but it took me a second. Lol.
Also, the dialogue is much richer and has far more depth than your typical Star Wars script. Some really great writing in this series. It's like a Star Wars political drama unfolding and the writing is far better than what we've seen previously from the franchise.

Just got back from the game myself. It's been a LONG TIME since I saw a team gash our front seven the way they did today. Was NOT expecting that at all. I just knew they would throw for 400 yards through the air today. They A&T'ed us instead. YIKES. There were some absolutely HORRIBLE calls and non-calls throughout the game, but at the end of the day, we simply could not stop them. They had a few drives that looked REALLY easy.
I am still proud of the team. They could have folded after an 0-3 start but they didn't. Even today...we had a shot at winning this game through almost three quarters but we simply could not get it done. Aggie Pride anyway.

As always, I reserve the right to change my stance if Chaz, GW, or both come up after beating us and say "when we read on BDV that..." lol I hope you don't have to change your stance...but karma often finds a way doesn't it. That's usually how these things end up. I think I would feel completely different about this if we had ALREADY faced Gardner Webb and eliminated any shot they had at securing the conference championship and playoff bid. But Gardner Webb ALSO controls their own destiny....win out and they're in. We know good and well that other teams and fanbases visit and read this board. I just don't believe in providing ammunition to my opponent before we go to war and for me prematurely discussing bidding on a playoff game before we've even secured the bid and another team has just as good a shot of winning it falls in that category. I hope I'm wrong and we won't have to hear from Chaz, Tyler, or their coaches either....lol.

Two points (my opinion only) Whether we as fans focus on the next opponent or three opponents later or two years from now doesn't really make a bit of difference. The players are the ones that have to focus. We can overinflate our effect on things sometimes. If we're not walking into the press conference telling the coach to get his players to quit acting like assholes, what effect do we really have? The other point is the topic of this very thread is "Bidding for home game in the Playoff." So that's what this thread is here for people to discuss. I can get the superstition of us somehow jinxing the team into not making the playoffs but at the end of the day either they're going to be prepared or they won't be. Us talking about it on a thread on a message board probably won't change things much. Sports psychology 101....teams always looking for mental leverage and extra motivation. Of course you still have to line up, take snaps, score and tackle and the team that does that better than the other wins. But I just hate airing this out in the public forum where athletes or alumni of either school, Charleston Southern or Gardner Webb, could use it to fuel a competitive edge for their team. If this was in the private forum I would agree with you. But locker room bulletin board material is real...and we should never look past an opponent. Ultimate sign of disrespect.

Let's win these last two games first before anyone starts talking about anything regarding playoffs. Both games are going to be a war. THANK YOU!! This entire thread is premature and possible locker room bulletin board material for Gardner Webb. Hell...even Charleston Southern. One week at a time please until we've ACTUALLY won something. I hope the team stays focused on the mission at hand. Clearly our fan base isn't. Lol.

I've ALWAYS been team grass. I'm just not team brown. Lol. And that can be fixed if we want to fix it.

This isn't even debatable. All wins are good wins, but a critical mass of penalties can prevent victories...especially against better coached and more talented teams. NSU was an inferior opponent and our penalties literally extended two of their drives that resulted in points for them. But the game was never in question.
We can't count on that outcome against Gardner Webb or any team we may face in the playoffs if we are fortunate enough to get there.
Our coaches know it and anybody who has an ounce of football knowledge knows it. You can gas these kids up all you want and tell them you like "their edge." But when that "edge" costs us chunks of yards and a potential victory against a quality opponent then the whole tune is going to change. And this is not to even bring up the ugly unsportsmanlike conduct penalties or personal fouls that come at 15 yards a clip with an automatic first down for our opponent. The bottom line is that discipline is a hallmark characteristic of most championship teams. Either we're going to have it and benefit from it or we're going to lack it and it's going to cost us a victory at some point. I can't even imagine someone who says they are an Aggie supporting the latter result.
