In my role at A&T I review applications for students seeking admission to our honors college. Social justice and the current climate of racial hostility in our country is absolutely a concern for many of them and they fully articulate that in their essays and video interviews. This does not suggest this is a sole factor, or even a main factor...but it is a factor. But I'm also intrigued that you seem adamant in your attempt to dismiss this as a factor. As if our kids attending PWIs don't see what's going on in these spaces and don't feel threatened or upset by it. How could you be so obtuse to that and believe that HBCUs would not be impacted by those seeking what they deem as safer, more welcoming, and more empowering space. Because i live in the real world, the average kid is not choosing HBCUs over DEI and Affirmative Action being overturned. Furthermore, people believe what they want without an evidence. Sure those kids write those essays but that is a select few. A&T accepted 17K students yet only 1500 have paid a deposit...how many of those admitted also applied to PWIs and are going to enroll there? A lot! Your job is based on HBCU conversation, therefore you are biased. You are surrounded with people that think like you which is why it is hard to process that someone who is black does not care about those things. Black kids are still going to PWC in larger numbers than they attend HBCUs. numbers do not lie. Every day black athletes are leaving HBCUs to attend PWCs, that show you that the majority of kids are not worried about social justice. Adults are the ones who consistently bring up racial hostility, DEI and affirmative action. Lol @ "I live in the real world." It's wild to see you rationalize that the BLACK in "HBCU" has no appeal to the students who choose to apply and enroll in these spaces. It's almost as if you believe our students have no understanding of the distinct nature and culture of HBCUs and what these spaces have meant to Black people in this country. Do you really believe the majority of the kids who choose to apply and enroll don't care about that?

How can that be true when things were changed less than a year ago. lol Those articles were written in 2022...the harvard ruling happened in June 2023. The DEI changes started happening in 2023. Those articles are opinion pieces that are not based on facts. A&T had 38K applications last year....Howard had 30K applications last year. I speak to kids and their families and none have mentioned DEI or affirmative action. Only the media cares about these changes. Those articles do not mention DEI or affirmative action. In my role at A&T I review applications for students seeking admission to our honors college. Social justice and the current climate of racial hostility in our country is absolutely a concern for many of them and they fully articulate that in their essays and video interviews. Thanks Mike. We are truly excited about this new development that actually has been two years in the making. I am hoping that we can count on all Aggies for support. Great news and even greater opportunities to come. In what way(s) can we help support you? Thank you for asking my friend. A donation button will be added to our site very soon. We have some really great programming lined up that I know will make Aggies proud that we are carrying on our legacy as agents for social justice. We appreciate every gift (large or modest) and they all help to elevate our goals. As you can see from my last post, there are some heavy hitting foundations out there who like what they see and are making big investments in the CESJ. And I am just getting started. We will continue to press the case that HBCUs matter and there's never been a better time to invest. I'll update again once the donate button is added to the site: www.ncat.edu/cahss/cesj/

How was the engagement Freeze? It was excellent! Thanks for asking. Always humbled and honored to represent the deep and rich legacies of HBCUs at various speaking engagements. I will be giving a keynote at Bethune Cookman in about two weeks. Very excited to make my way down there as well.

They're going to be doing one of these on the MCU pretty soon if things don't turn around quickly. Comic book movie burnout is getting to be a real thing.

I clicked on this thinking it was about to be reported that A&T cheated or something...lol. Why in the world would we "relinquish" something that was rightfully earned and vetted by competent and unbiased judges?? Instead of worrying about social media chatter from jaded SWAC folks, spend time basking in the glory of another historic win for our institution.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CzBr--sMiKz My apologies for forgetting to post this earlier, but we had our official launch of the Center of Excellence for Social Justice this evening. It was an incredible event, well attended, and a lot of excellent energy. We are ready to build. If you are on instagram please follow us at @ncatcesj.

This is disappointing. Embracing alumni and seeing them celebrate the cultural pageantry that is unique to our schools is something that I and so many Black college alumni really look forward to. I am sure folks may remember this clip that went viral of a former Ebony Fire dancer at Hampton University leading the other alumni dancers/majorettes last year. See the clip below: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AujXUG7XU6MWe have traditionally done the same every year dating back at least 30 years or more and I love to see each generation of drum majors and Golden Delight dancers doing their thang. I will take Ruff at his word that the band room is too small, but I am not certain what the harm is to allow past dancers and drum majors on the track to do their thang as the band marches in. Maybe he is sending a message that band alumni need to donate more in order to have access. I don't really know....but I do know that I am going to miss this tradition and I am sure I am not alone. Dr Ruff is focused on the Rose Bowl fundraising and possibly getting another check from ESPN. They can't do both? And is it a general assumption that the band alumni were freeloading and not buying tickets to get into the stadium? Or is that a fact? I will admit that it usually is a lot of them down on the track...I just never assumed that they were ALL getting in the stadium for free. P-Funk (I believe that's the name of the band routine when they march back into the stand) will never be the same without seeing all of the old heads represent their generation. It always gave a sense of family and tradition. I hate to see that go away. Oh well. That's Ruff's call...I'm sure there has to be another reason other than "too many people down on the track."

Hello everybody. I am new here and a proud Aggie Dad. As my wardrobe and house decor slowly evolves into A&T logo items I am having trouble finding some good big and tall gear. So...where are y'all getting your Aggies gear, and any other big and tall out there have a spot? Looking for all gear too, not just clothing. What's the best shop? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to be part of the Aggie family and attending as many games as I can. Welcome to the board and Aggie Pride! See the link below. They have a lot of big and tall gear and they are reliable and fast with shipping: www.fanatics.com/college/north-carolina-a-and-t-aggies/o-49+t-23547260+z-917548-1010528828
