Great post Oleschool! I was at the game and it wasn't Kindle best game, but he is not surrounded by a lot of talent except for Miles. This year would have been ugly without them both. Problem is folks began to expect more when we started winning. Here's hoping we have a great recruiting class.

oleschoolaggie, I stopped reading after you said "Let me first say I didn't see nor hear the scsu game." I was there...... As for stats - check out Tim Tebow's and compare them to the outcome of the Denver/Kansas City game......If you have to make a decision from what you've personally seen or from what you've read from another source - I'd be willing to bet you'd make your decision based on what you've seen. Our kicker was flat out bad....but Kindle did us no favors with his performance this Saturday. He has to get better during the offseason - and it's not about the physical either. It's neck up for him - he has to make better decisions.....

superstar, i don't have to see the scsu game to know kindle is not a "less than marginal" qb. the only point i was trying to make is that kindle is by no means whatsoever a "less than marginal" qb. dude is only 180 yds away from breaking a&t's all time single season record in passing yardage and you think he's a less than marginal qb? he's only a redshirt sophomore who hadn't taken a live snap in almost 2 years, yet this "less than marginal" qb is about to break an a&t single season passing record.
nobody on the team is beyond criticism. but if you're gonna criticize somebody, at least be fair about it. i think implying that kindle is a "less than marginal" qb is unfair. i happen to think he's a good qb who will become a very good qb and then become a great qb. he's only gonna get better and better. i don't agree with his critics who say he doesn't see the rest of the field, he only see's miles. at this point in the season, i'm personally pleased with kindle's performance. i think he's demonstrated good passing ability and i think he's an "accurate" passer. i think last year's acl injury has probably made him a little more cautious about running the ball, so i think that's a dimension of his game that we'll probably see more of next season.
but less than marginal isn't fair. now regarding that punter we have, i agree we have a less than marginal punter...

OSA: I agree with you that nobody on this Team is beyond Criticism and that includes some of the coaching calls that were made in close games also. But it's a learning season for us all. I'm not down on Kindle by any means and I am some what pleased with his over all play, But their are somethings he has to work , down field vision (reading a Defense),Progression steps in his passing, and under standing what routs work against this or that type of Defenses, And know that he can make the throws. All that will come but he has to put the work in this off season not so much on the field BUT IN THE FILM ROOM & Wt ROOM . Now if you would have counted the 3 or 4 dropped in zone passes we may have been tired for 1st place . Kindle put A&T in a position to win. You can't ask for a QB to do more then that . He is far above Marginal . Now as for the Kicking game. Ray Guy is the only person I have ever seen that could kick a 45 yard field goal and 50 yard punt. Look we need a Punter that just Punts. So stop this corner cutting with this guy can do this are that . We need a real punter not a punter/DB/LM/QB. So what if it costs one scholarship Broadway get out their and find us a real PUNTER for next season .

Glad to see the passion for Aggie Football! I am the punter's father and I understand your frustration. Keep in mind that in spite of some of the punts the Aggies were in a position each of the last four games to come away with a win which says a lot about the character of this year's team. We can play the "what-if" game all day long. There were many other factors than just the punting that could have changed the course of any of those games. It is a team sport so you win and lose as a team, not as individuals.
To keep the record straight, here are some facts you need to know about my son. He is not on scholarship so this should make everyone feel a little better. He came to A & T as a preferred walk-on to kick, not punt. He agreed to give punting a try this season due to the scholarship situation. He punted against WSSU last season and that was the extent of his experience as a college punter until this season.
As it always goes with the kicker and punter you are either the hero or the villain. He has certainly had to learn under pressure this season. Experienced punters make it look easy but I assure you it is anything but for someone less experienced. In speaking with him after each game I know he regrets the position he put the team in on several occasions. He has a strong leg and has the potential to be a great punter. I have seen improvements in him during practice but game-day nerves can change everything. He has had some good games as well. He has also been the holder for Garcia on the field goals and extra points which he has done an excellent job at.
I am almost certain that the Punter haters will see changes next season as Coach Broadway gets to actively recruit for this position. For what it is worth, I have suggested to Coach Oliver that they bring on a dedicated Kicking and Punting Coach next season because I believe this area has been neglected and can be improved upon greatly. I regret that Skyler and Garcia did not have this to take advantage of this season.
I want to see the Aggies get back to a winning record and hopefully take the MEAC Championship again soon. It will happen. I am still proud of the team for improving upon last years record. I believe that Coach Broadway will get the program back to a position of prominence in the MEAC.
I am grateful for the opportunity that Skyler has had to be a part of the Aggie Football program and regret that he couldn't have been the hero on more occasions but he is a hero to me for sticking with it this season through the ups and downs and the ire of the fans. Believe me he felt like hanging it up a time or two but he is not a quitter. I am sure he will take away some valuable life lessons from his time with the Aggies which will help him be a better person off the field.
Thanks for letting me share a little bit about Skyler. It has been a tough four game road stretch. Let's finish with a win against NCCU. AGGIE PRIDE!!!!

You are a class act Mr. Thomas. I wish more people would be a lot less critical of 18 and 19 year old kids. These kids are not professionals. I was guilty as the next person about getting caught up in wins and losses but I know my attitude has changed a great deal over the last year dealing with my own real life challenges. That is what is truly important.
Like most college football fans, we often take this game of football far too seriously and put it in front of common sense and never stop to think ahead of how the public criticism and sometimes the humiliating comments made by some people on these young men are often times is hurtful and very callous in their tone and delivery.
Its one thing to rake coaches over the coals. They are men making a considerable amount of money to win and graduate student atheltes so they understand that comes with the territory.
But I would hope that we would apply a much different standard to the young men who sacrifice each week of the year and represent our university every time they put on the uniform. They deserve better.
After watching what is happening at Penn State these last two weeks, we need to keep all things in their proper prospective.
Again, thank you for your comments and for your son's contribution to this year's team and tell him to stay with it. That championship ring is just right around the corner.

Thanks for your comments, Mr. Thomas, I enjoyed reading them, particularly, the one about the " valuable life lesson" which is more important to Skylar than winning a college football game. I also agree with your thoughts about "Aggie Pride" and "beating NCCU". Tell Skylar the we, the fans, are not against him personally. It just that we have been beating so often and so bad recently that it has become somewhat emotional. And sometime, some of us express that emotion but as long as Skylar is an Aggie and trying to help us win, we're on his side.

Mr. Thomas I agree with your assessment.("I have suggested to Coach Oliver that they bring on a dedicated Kicking and Punting Coach next season because I believe this area has been neglected and can be improved upon greatly".) That is why I stated (Stop cutting corners). A&T like most HBCU do not value Kickers something that I have stated before and will again. It would be hard to find a Kicking coach in the MEAC are HBCU football and if you do it's in name only. And I also Agree the kicking game was not the Villain in the close loses. Sir let Skyer know this : PUNTS 2011 NCAT 60 32.1 56 1923 SEE 2010 >http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/498916/skyler-thomas. He is on par with most of the punters in the MEAC and this is his first year as a punter.. I'm hoping that you will return next year . So here are some Tips that can help him ( www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=NyFkF38n8xg). If he needs any help on ways of increasing his leg muscle strength. Just ask and I will be glad to help out. Also get with the Track Coach and have him set Skyler and the other Kicker up on a track work out for their Upper and lower body. It will make a big differences in his leg strength when contacting the ball. Good luck this weekend. Roll ON AGGIE"S ROLL ON.

(Key word (LIKE MOST not all but most) and Because it just a fact)... I have not seen all the HBCU rosters, so I can only relate to the ones I have seen. However, when I see out of state kickers on so many rosters , I can only conclude that they made an effort. Howard had kickers from San Diego, and Jackson MS. and a LS from Orangeburg. I am not going to go through all the rosters to see where the kickers are from, why don't you point out some schools that have not made an effort. It is too easy to make a ststement w/o data to support it. A&t had Grubb, Shidler k/p and Madiraca (NJ) last year in addition to Thomas. Madiraca did not return. Shidler became ill in camp and had to w/d from school. Thomas is the last man standing.

Welcome Skyler's dad. Context matters. Your post certainly adds much needed context. Tell Skyler that we are pulling for him and the rest of the team. Moreover, we appreciate their hard work and sacrifice.

Mr. Thomas.....you are a class act and thanks for your support! I have a friend who has spoken to Skylar several times to encourage him. As you know, this is nothing personal against your son.
From what I've been told he is a great teammate, good student, and a fine young man. As you can see many have expressed nothing but love for him and his efforts. The program has been down for a while and we desparately want a winner.
GO AGGIES

I hear that and second the motion oleschoolaggie. It ain't even close. Like I said previously, I remember when a fake punt was our best offensiv play. Now we can move the ball up the field, and with Mayhew, Raper, Miles, an R. Lewis, a threat to score from anywhere. All 4 of those players are back from a 1 - 10 team. The only difference is KINDLE. Yall better RECOGNIZE.

numberonebrave: It is a fact that has been over looked for years at HBCU schools . And it is also a fact that most of the Punters or Field Goal kickers do double duty, and it is also a fact that players like Mr Thomas that has mostly kicked Field Goals are asked to be a PUNTER on the FLY without the Tutelage of a True kicking coach. This is something that A&T and a # of HBCU schools must address if we are to move to the next level. I do not have to name schools are even players to see the difference in a school that has a kicker/punter that is being coached by a kicking specialist. I just have to watch the game. NOW THAT IS A FACT.
