I just heard a radio commercial on 102 Jamz advertising a homecoming day party tomorrow afternoon.
They said "since there's no tailgating allowed this year at Aggie Stadium" .... this is the place to be during Saturday afternoon.
Already it seems that people are trying to create new alternatives to the game day environment. However this day party was all the way out on west Wendover. We'll see how it works.

Hmmph. If given the choice between a petition asking for a reduced price or some blatantly false advertising, which would you choose?

Wouldn't $10 tickets defeat the purpose of the game zone especially since the game isn't sold out yet? We need sellouts, not a tailgating experience. If you want to socialize so bad, go to the Holland bowl and the plots. Heck, spark up a grill by Crosby hall and the student union.

I'm not with this petition...If you want to party...grill out...and have a good time why do you need to be at Aggie Stadium to do that? Nobody said you can't tailgate, but if you want to be at the stadium you need to have a ticket. Seems pretty simple to me.

You and A&T Aggie 96 hit the nail on the head.

Why not both?
What happens if the game doesn't sell out anyway?
We can sit 21,500 in Aggie Stadium. On average, how many more come to the tailgating area during a homecoming? How many of them don't intend to go into the game? And how many of them will just not bother to show up at all this year?
Well, I guess we'll find out...

And WNAA 90.1 fm will have the block party by war memorial which is free! Also, kids tickets will not be $35 and hs and other college students pay $20.

77....The example I used about the Fish Samich of L game is that there were far more people in and out the stadium for the BCU game as opposed to the Fish game. There was not anywhere near 11K for the first game, not ANYWHERE near that. I can't speak for why they announced that but they did and that is fact. Just think about it Fish or BCU? It does not add up. But the eyes don't lie the attendance for Fish was way below that of BCU. Also, it is no way that the no shows made up the difference in the Fish game. You have to admit this isn't the first time inflated figures have been used (it is an old practice by some schools and at certain events). Hopefully, the product continues to improve and the game zone atmosphere gets better. I just think that we won't see NEW money until we start getting better. But we could have done that by simply getting better and keeping it like it was. If there were 11,500 at the JC Smith game a few years ago then there was definitely 11,800 for the VUL game. I don't think the figure was inflated.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH THE PETITION. Adding a separate "Game Zone" ticket will only add to the expense incurred by the Athletics Department, because then you will have two levels of space to secure with additional ticket-takers and security. It makes no sense. You can't go to the movie theatre and just hang-out in the lobby with no ticket. You have to purchase a ticket. Now, if you choose to just hang-out in the lobby, eat popcorn and not see a movie...that's on YOU. SAME THING AS THE "GAME ZONE" IS CURRENTLY STRUCTURED. Someone earlier said that "going to the game is not a requirement" for having a successful GHOE. But neither is tailgating at the stadium. Nobody is stopping anyone from tailgating. They tailgate all over downtown Charlotte for Panthers games...many of them are outside of the I-277 ring. Tailgaters can do the same thing in Greensboro. Well said AggieRattler, the thing that bothers me the most about this petiton,, and that ad by 102 JAMZ , and by some of the posts is the false and/or misleading information. 1) all tickets were not $35 as stated 2) no tailgating allowed at Aggie stadium , and 3) the attendance figures. I have been at every game and those figures are good. There were about the same number of people on the visitors side for VUL and BCU , but you have to remember that BCU's band took up a whole section.

A majority of you guys keep saying you want to help the revenue for athletics AKA football then why not do like a majority of other schools and charge for parking. At my old college you did not have to pay for a game ticket to tailgate. Also if you are making tailgaters buy game tickets and the number of people decrease what have you accomplished? Let's go back to parking if you really want to make money charge for parking. This shouldn't be a problem for many of you from what I gather from your post. The majority of people keep saying raise more money that's a sure fire way to raise money. I have not been to an Aggie tailgate and I pay each week for a game ticket it has never bothered or crossed my mind to worry about a tailgaters price or what they paid or did not pay. I'm just saying maybe another route can be taken to bring in more money like a parking charge.

There are always folks that will spread false information to make a buck for themselves. It took SC State fans a short while to get used to the "Game Zone" concept, and it will take Aggies some time, too. I know that Norfolk State and Hampton are talking about doing it in 2012, and FAMU is working with the city police to try and establish a Game Zone there, too. "Change" is hard for some!

I don't have a problem offering a $10 tailgate ticket, but after the game has been sold out. Priority should go towards promoting people to support the athletic program, and the experience.

So now that Homecoming is over can we get a revenue comparison for the first 6 games compared to last year? If the game zone was a money generating move, then by now, with a winning season, we should see comparable results in the new game zone.
