Things got pretty interesting at today's press conference.
Broadway basically called out his training staff to the media because of the number of players who have been held out for extended periods of time for what he termed as "cramps".
According to Broadway, about five players have not been cleared to practice by the team trainers since August 5. He said he called around and found that no other school in the nation had that many players miss practice that long just because of cramps. He sounded really frustrated with the whole process and said something has to change.
Seems like Martin might need to step in and settle this feud before it really spills over. Can't be a good thing to have your head football coach and head trainer publicly at odds. Especially considering our recent history with trainers, coaches and dead student athletes.
Besides that, he said he didn't know much about VUL and in my opinion he didn't seem overly concerned. He was more interested to see how his own players would perform on Saturday.
Stay tuned ...

Yeah, I'm sure the trainers are being overly cautious with clearing players with any type of issues. They probably have their orders from Up Above to have zero incidents involving player safety.

We're on the eve of a new era of A&T football and he wants to discuss a trainer related issue while we still have an open trainer-related issue? From a pr perspective, makes no sense. This matter is better handled internally.

What would you have Him say : He is just telling the truth No player should be out that long for "Cramps " five players . That is just unheard of. Come on Hell Mr Bee would give us pickle juice and send your butt to practice the next day Smelling like a Vlasic ;D !! He is right to have called them out!! If it is just for Cramps. Maybe they are not communicating true nature of the injures ?? But Cramps please!! I would be frustrated to . I liked the I dear that he is doing this Externally and letting it be known his Frustration out front and clear. Maybe then things will get DONE the right way this time. On VUL their is noting to know they have no film yet . We will be the team that is on film against them !

The trainers along with the doctors are the ones who determine when a player is ready to return to practice. I'm sorry coach, you are out of line on this one. And to do this publicly aint cool at all.

I agree 4XAGGIE and I don't think that Coach Broadway would disagree with a Dr. captaggie : If I didn't grasp your posts meaning DO EXPLAIN??? BUT LET ME SEE IF YOU CAN GRASP THIS??(This matter is better handled internally) A&T has a history of Handling things Internally and you know what THEY NEVER GOT DONE! Now that we have a Coach that is telling it like it is and letting the AGGIE community know what his team needs loud and clear we have a problem? Because he is stating the truth Look you said that "open trainer-related issue" Now who is to blame? The Trainer Issue should have be Done before Broadway got here and that was Handled INTERNALLY TO RIGHT. BROADWAY IS JUST COVERING HIS BACK BY MAKING THE ADMINISTRATION A COUNTABLE BY GOING PUBLICLY AND I LIKE IT. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY SO YOU BETTER GET USE TO IT. IF IT'S NOT RIGHT HE WILL NOT ONLY LET THE ADMINISTRATION KNOW BUT THE COMMUNITY. WE PICKED THE WRONG MAN FOR THIS JOB IF WE ARE JUST GOING TO GO HALFWAY IT'S ALL THE WAY ARE NOTHING WITH BROADWAY THAT JUST THE MAN HE IS. LIKE IT ARE NOT!!!

Understand where Coach is coming from. A proven coach trying to rebuild a faltering team and 5 of his players are laid out on what is probably the simplest of cases. It is probably insulting for the Coach to have had thousands of players in his tenure, hundreds with cramps and now at the school in the worst shape he's seen some of his players are sitting out for cramps.
Its a give and take. Im glad to see coach opinionated in this regard. Understanding the timid nature of the new training staff, but some things a coach just knows aint nothing but bull.... Suck it up, ask saabman to send some of that Vlassic Juice over and get that arse out there.

I think the riff between Funky B and the training staff began this spring when the coaches put actual boxing gloves on some players who were fighting and made them duke it out in a circle.
Reportedly one of the players got his eye pretty swollen after one of these "boxing" matches and the trainers objected to having a Knockout Kings 2011 tournament during practice. Go figure.
Broadway basically told the trainers that he ran his practices the way he wanted to and they could take a long walk off a short pier if they didn't like it. He didn't say the long walk/short pier part but it would have been cool if he did.
Anyway, I think things between Broadway and the trainers gradually deteriorated after that.
Like I said, eventually Martin is gonna have to step in and resolve this feud.

Like I said, eventually Martin is gonna have to step in and resolve this feud. Thrilla, why does Martin have to resolve this instead of the athletic director. Don't both the coaches and the trainers report to the athletic director? Is he falling down on his job in this case? Also, was he or any of the players at the Press Conference? Finally, what did Coach Broadway say during the weekly press conference about how the team is coming together and what to expect this weekend?

How bout Coach Broadway tell the truth. I know for a fact that these players were taken to hospital and stayed overnight. His coaching staff dont like women. They are very disrespectful towards both of the trainers. Keith Wagner is a problem n will be until his a$$ is fired. They only had one trainer at Grambling. They should be happy and shut the hell up. Coach Broadway shouldnt be in Aggie Club Meetings talking trash bout the trainers. Harold Martin hired Broadway and he should address this.
