A decent size group have already signed with us but I would need to sit down and pull a list of those who have thus far.

The roster is full right now...I believe all returned except Macklin, who was drafted, Oelker, who graduated, and Young, a freshman pitcher.. Signed primarily outfielders and lots of pitching.

i could be wrong, i dunno know. but i swear, to me, all of hilton's hires so far have been impressive on paper. i can clearly see why he selected each of the coaches he has hired so far. whether or not they will be successful remains to be seen. but on paper, in my eyes, hilton is doing a hail of a job so far...

why did he leave Bethune as an assistant to go to a junior college to be an assistant? isn't that a step down? I mean if he went to be a head coach at Daytona State then that is different...but assistant juco coach to NCAA DI head coach? Perplexing.
No head coach experience. No ties to North Carolina (where supposedly the A&T baseball team can only recruit from). Definitely not the same support for baseball as Bethune, nor the recruiting resources from FL, DR, Cuba, and PR that they had there. Tough road ahead for him.
Anyone know who else they interviewed for this job? Not that it means anything now, but I am just curious.

Aggie- According to Bio, Coach Sanchez left Bethune for opportunity to work in Nationals organization. Not sure why he returned to college ranks to be assistant at Daytona State last year, Maybe he wanted to get back to Florida for personal reasons. Who knows, but I do believe this is a very good hire. Anytime you can hire the # 2 guy from the Team who has owned the conference for over a decade and the program is nationally respected and the hire had a hand in eight of those years he brings a certain level of instant credibility to the program. The Fact the AD is going after Coaches with a reputation of being in winning programs bodes well for Aggie Athletics. Coach Sanchez also has a very strong pitching background the one area that I feel has seperated A&T from Bethune. I do not believe you have to have hispanic pitchers to win the Meac. We have some talented kids they just need to be coached up and I also believe his background and success with pitchers at Bethune will attract more local talent. I am thrilled Coach Love is staying on as asisstant, he is a excellant young coach who loves his kids and his kids love him. He knows the strengths and weaknessess of current players and he recruited incoming players. He also knows the landscape of the state for recruiting. Excellant move by AD and Sanchez to keep Coach Love on and think it was a good move for him to stay. As far as out of state kids I think they have 3 incoming kids this year from out of state (2 from Maryland and 1 from Illonois). They are returning a ton of talent and they have talent with incoming class. I think the future of A&T baseball is anything but gloom and doom!!

Most JUCO Colleges place a higher emphasis on baseball. Some only field, soccer, baseball and indoor sports, so the resources for Baseball are greater there. Mount Olive College and Louisburg are two example of this.

Mount Olive College and Louisburg are two example of this. Mt Olive is not a juco. Ask one of the coaches at Louisburg about the resources they have and I KNOW you will hear something completely different than you posted here. Also, by your rationale why didn't A&T consider juco coaches here in NC? There are some pretty damn good ones. It is amazing how little A&T folks know about baseball. No wonder there is no support for the program.

Aggie... Please help us ignorant aggie baseball fans understand how a local Juco coach could bring more to the program than Sanchez. Can a local coach get the kids from PR,DR,Cuba, etc that you feel we need. Does a local juco coach know more about what it takes to win in Meac than Sanchez? Can a local coach recruit better locally than Coach Love and Sanchez? Will a local Juco coach bring a better pitching background than Sanchez? Will a local Coach get A&T admin to commit more resources that you do not seem to believe they will. Actually you sound a lot like a disgruntled juco coach who did not get the job???
