I agree with Monster Man----I just don't like the B.S. route. It's not gonna prepare us for App St.-which consequently Wheels should not have scheduled while he was in power. At any rate I am hoping for the best. Administration is moving towards trying to make us "mo better" so, hopefully, we will be able to come to some kinda compromise with "Wild Bill" at WSSU and get them back in stride for 2012 and beyond. Are we 100% sure that Wheeler scheduled this game?? If so, he needs to be thanked because we should be playing non-conference games of this caliber annually...no matter what our record is. We just need to contract them on a home-and-home basis.

Oleschool, I dont miss your point. I just disagree with it.
I've said several times that I see the reasons for playing a weak opponent. Your making your point and I'm making mine. Just cause I dont agree doesn't mean either of us is wrong.
I dont think you should schedule opponents based on your history. You should schedule them based on where you want to be.

But I will say this. Even with a JSCU or any other Div2 opponent on the schedule it is harder than last year. So I'm pleased with our schedule OVERALL. It's not a cupcake's schedule. By the end of the year we will know plenty about our players and coaching staff.
So I can see Broadway or the AD going "Damn! we cant schedule another power house. That would be to much this year".
I think I'm more peaved about the JSCU game being on Labor Day weekend than them just being on the schedule. If it were App or another MEAC opponent that week and then JSCU the following week I wouldn't even be in this discussion.

Neither is WSSU. Nothing is going to prepare us for that unless we play a quality FCS or FBS school We agree with you on that point. We are saying that unless its a game like WSSU that will bring in money then you might as well play to the level of your competition. Dont get me wrong. I see the theory behind it. We were 1-9, lets build some confidence, etc, etc. Its a foe win and I think the players and fans will see right through it. Everyone will be waiting to see what we do with the next 4 games. Regardless of how week 1 turns out. I think this team has enough talent to go .500. Now a easy win over JSCU(if we play them) will definitely be one of the 5, so I guess 5-6 just sounds a lot better than 4-7 for the following years morale. Dress rehearsal. If you recall in the private forum, I discussed that we had talks with another school. If we stuck with that team, I have to say that our schedule would be VERY tough, even for Coach Broadway.

It would have been the 3rd year of the program with the expectations of being more competitive. Plus there was an opportunity to get some badly needed guaranteed dollars. Where else can you get 90,000 plus rooms and cost of transportation from an FCS institution only 3hrs away. So, yes, I did schedule it.

I have no problem playing App. State because, when I was in school in the early 90's we beat App. State. Of course, that was a long time ago, but there's no reason why we can't get back to that. Hell, beat em and take their loot!!! That's what they did to Michigan.

I am thinking Hilton is finding out that the job is a lot tougher when you are sitting in the Athletic Director seat than when you are looking at it.
The St Paul game was a iffy proposition from day 1 if you knew the recent history of the college athletic finances. I am not saying that Hilton should have known that St Paul would stand down their whole athletic department but it was known that St Paul football program was on very shifting sands, financially and was likely to not have a team fully equipped by Labor Day weekend.
Also, wait until there is confusion on Homecoming about the Game Zone unless AD Hilton and Macalpin's the marketing people become pro-active.

The game zone guidelines are spelled out very clearly. People are just assuming there's going to be a difference for homecoming when that is not the case. You must have a game ticket to get into the game zone.

You must have a game ticket to get into the game zone. There will be a big difference and the difference will be more a lot more people attending the Homecoming game and a lot them will be attending a game for the first and only time in the season. We all have seen the stadium filled to capacity with thousands of other people out in the tailgate area. If Coach Broadway and his football team can provide any glimmer of hope for success, then the maximum capacity and beyond will come again for Homecoming. It will be A&T's task to handle this delicate situation so the fans will happily come again.

a&t vs. App St----It was definitely a win situation from a financial standpoint by Wheels during tuff times. From a competitive point we are no where near thar yet. Don't want to predict but App St in Boone that early in the season is a tough one for a new coach. True dat-- when it was scheduled orginally, the situation was a little different in some ways. However, good pay day!!! Let's get WSSU back in line for 2012 (1st game-natural rivalry). Hopefully, in the near future we can get to where "Wild Bill" had us against the App St's of the world!!!!

I hope that A&T will always have a Southern Conference foe or a CAA foe on the football and basketball schedule. It doesn't need to be the season opener, but that second game slot isn't bad for such a game. The opponent will be working out their kinks, as well.
Again, I hope that it will be home-and-home contracts.
