i really wish we would treat spring football and the spring game as an "event" rather than a virtual mystery. central is really killing us when it comes to "pr" for their sports programs. you can go to their website or the major message boards (mfz, onnidan) and you'll find details regarding their spring practice, their spring game, their 2011 football schedule, and interviews with their new head coach.
it really would be nice if we had that kind of marketing/promotions for our football program and all sports for that matter. one way to get fans back to the stadium is to promote our football program during the offseason. it'll generate more interest and have fans starving for the first football game.
i'd especially like to see our spring game heavily promoted along with other outdoor festivities to compliment the game. i think we miss out on a grand opportunity to generate more support for our football program by not promoting spring football. if we could draw a good crowd at the spring game, it might also be a good opportunity to recognize a&t's 2 time flag football national champions...

68 players reported on the first day of practice. There are 78 on the spring roster. of those not there, some had some late classes, some off season surgeries and a couple have some off the field things we already know about.
Mostly conditioning drills and Broadway and the crew going over what will be expected from them now that he is running the show and their play books.
Kind of like the first day on your new job. Nothing unsual or ground breaking.

This is something we completely agree on. We are gonna really need some Buzz now that we are opening with SPC.

Maybe I missed it but who are the assistant coaches? I have search daily to see if any names have been posted and come up empty everytime. The last name I saw was Rizzo from GW as the OC.

Its scary how me and ole school have been agreeing lately, I've said the same about basketball when it come to promotions. We just dont do it. I would take the "rock star" approach and market 5-6 kids like they were ALL WORLD.
It works.
Aggieone, thanks for the info by the way.

They actually ran plays like it was a regular practice. They started at 4:00p and practiced until about 7:00p. They (the coaches) took the first day of practice very serious. Practices will be every M,W and F at 4:00p. Lewis Kindle was practicing with the team and he was moving around as if he was almost 100%.

Something as simple as what AOne and Bigboy just said could have been put on the athletic website and tweeted/facebooked out to everyone.
A&T's opening practice is slated for a 4 p.m. start on Tuesday inside Aggie Stadium.......blah, blah, blah.
Thats all we are asking for. Maybe the new hire will fix that. I hope. We make stuff hard. The last football thing on our website is "Broadway hired as coach".

I'm sick of being sheep Dooms, LOL. I hope everyone else is.
Being an A&T fan is like buying food and not knowing the ingredients. "I'll eat it cause I like it". Or better yet...Like not having a guide on your cable box. I think my show comes on tonight?

Mayhew was not at practice, don't know why! Justin Ferrell was out there in street cloths but he was out there on the practice field the entire practice with the other DB's while they were during their drills talking with the coaches. He also talked to the AD and they were both smiling and laughing, don't know what they were talking about. Hopefully he will get his legal stuff straight and will be allowed to play this season. Buster Cooper and the starting TE, don't remember his name were both out there but not participating in practice. They both are supposely kicked off of the team. They both were wearing their football warmups. Did not see M. Stansfield DL out there either. I heard that some kids did not make the grade and that Broadway put a few off the team, don't know exactly who or how many. I was told that Broadway had actually put Lewis Kindle off the team but he had a meeting with Kindle's father and he decided to let him back on the team with the understanding that he will get his act together. I was not told exactly what Kindle did to cause broadway to do what he supposely did. Don't have any proof that it actually happen but I was told this by someone close to the team. If true Broadway is not playing around!!

aggieone and bigboy, thanks for the updates! don't know what we'd do without ya'll except not know anything. its good to hear the coaches are taking spring practice very seriously and the vast majority of the players were there, especially kindle. did anyone have a chance to see how our new offensive coordinator runs his show?

If we've perfected a culture of secrecy, why change now? big difference between non-transparency of hiring practices as oppose to non-transparency of spring football practice...
