I heard it was a done deal with CC coming to Aggie Stadium. I also heard that we will be playing some small school out of VA. (can't remember the name) on Labor Day weekend.

The fact that we are below the APR cut-off score and in the penalty phase is the reason why we aren't able to give the requisite number of scholarships needed to play a 1-A at this time. It comes to either 90 or 95 % of the NCAA maximum. What I was saying is that the ability to play a 1-A is dependant upon giving out an average number of scholarships over a period of time. Even before APR became a factor, we didn't give out enough scholarships to qualify. thanks, 4xl. so i think the professor's statement just needed a little clarification. but indeed it appears that our apr is responsible for us not being able to award the number of scholarships necessary to play an fbs school. but to me, the bigger question is how much longer will we be penalized with scholarship reductions if we continue to score above the minimum required every year going forth? i really would like to see us get that monkey off our backs as soon as possible... Check out the " APR News" thread under GENERAL SPORTS TALK.

So...were we in compliance when we played Wake Forest a few seasons ago, or was this NCAA rule not in-effect at that time? When we played Wake, we had given out either 62 or 63 scholarships in each of the previous two years. Yes, we were in compliance. We had to give Wake our squad lists and have them go over them to prove it.

Does anyone have an explanation why A&T is having so much trouble finding opponents to play? It looks like we are about the only MEAC football team without a schedule published. We should have had something on the web by now.

We should have had something on the web by now. Who says that we are "having so much trouble finding opponents to play?" I know from first-hand experience that it sometimes takes a ridiculous amount of time to finalize a non-conference game contract. I was involved in the FAMU @ UMiami football game contract, and it took 3 months after the agreement was made to get the damn thing signed...and the hold-ups were in both president's offices. What you don't want to do is to release a schedule that has "signatures pending.' Hopefully, the schedule will be released shortly. Oh...and the same thing applies to assistant coaches' contracts.

Find a cup cake for the home opener, go play App and take the check then take a bye week and lick your wounds if you need to.
After that then get your real season started against Coastal.
