hopefully, it will be ready. i really don't think it'll take that long to build a pressbox if all of the funding is in place. a structure of that size and magnitude doesn't really take very long to build... Not according to A&T's own construction schedule. If the construction doesn't start by the first of April - and I don't mean cutting down two trees - then I don't think the press box will be open by Labor Day Weekend. Has the construction contract been awarded to a company yet? The bidding opened last month, Feb 18th. Has the contract been written and signed? Have most of the material been ordered and delivered? Have the construction drawings been approved? You have weather and state inspections you have to take into account. You have sub-contractors and labor issues sometimes. You have all of this on a compressed schedule. DAMN...taking all of that into consideration, do you think that it will be finished in time for the 2012 Spring Game??? (seriously)

Show the love! hail, i'd show up for a blue/gold spring game if it was organized and promoted properly. bring the band out and some music, tailgate a little bit, plus some funfest activities, schedule a lady aggies softball game afterwards, and i'd be right there...

Aggierattler, Jazz, and for the rest of you guys. This press facility is a concrete pre-fab which doesn't take very long to put together.
My late father worked as a part-time concrete and mason building contractor for furniture market buildings in High Point when he wasn't teaching classes during the summer and I spent a lot of time with him around this type of construction working with him when I was a younger guy and learned a lot about building structures of this type.
The big part of the job and the hardest is the digging out the proper base, putting in the anchors, and laying out and placing the foundation and rods for support. The actual facade is of large white granite stone which is pre-cut to specification and electrical hookups take about two weeks tops to hook up the place with a crew of six.
Actual construction time normally takes 3 and half months for a structure this large and of this type. It should, barring horrible weather, take no longer and probably less than that since some sub-contractors will work on certain portions at night because of the summer heat.
Take my word it, it will look like slow going at first. But once that initial part is done, it will go up very quickly and I think it will be an impressive sight and entrance and will serve its purpose for years.
The best part is that pre-fab structures can easily be expanded if it becomes necessary rather than fixed structures and make far more economic sense long term.
