i agree, but we better find the closest thing to a cupcake as possible. we do not have an easy schedule in 2011. both pwc's we play will be very challenging and our meac schedule gives us all 3 of last year's tri-champions. plus, we have to play 4 "consecutive" road games near the end of the season.
actually, there are cupcakes out there that we shouldn't have any trouble with. if we can't easily beat the likes of edward waters or st. paul's, then we've got a "minimum" of 3 years worth of rebuilding to do...

Forget all the cupcake scheduling. Those games cost us money and fans don't turn out to watch em. Just try to get another home & home with a regional opponent.

Or do we just play 10 games this year but I don't think that will happen. With gas being over 4.50 a gallon by the fall the cheapest thing is to schedule WSSU. I think a lot of people in the Triad and Triangle area will not venture out a lot for Labor day

If Winstons has the open date Im sure Hayes is licking his chops to play us after Appalachain, its so like him to take that strategic position.

That's definitely not an easy schedule. I haven't seen a schedule this hard from us in a long time. Get ready!

Forget all the cupcake scheduling. Those games cost us money and fans don't turn out to watch em. Just try to get another home & home with a regional opponent. speaking for myself only, i don't care if virtually no one shows up for a home game against a cupcake. because guess what? they aren't gonna show up during the rest of the season either if we don't win any games. so i much rather start off the season with a cupcake win than go all season long under pressure just to win 1 single game. we don't need to be starting no new losing streaks. i mean, take a look at our schedule. its very unlikely that we'll beat app state. we've never beaten coastal carolina before. with coach lee back at morgan, we'll have our hands full at msu. bethune is a defending champion and they beat us by dayum near 70 points last season. what's the odds of us beating them? its been a long time since we've beaten dsu and you know how long its been since we won a homecoming game. its very possible that we could go into homecoming week without 1 single victory if we don't play a cupcake. the only game on our schedule that we should be favored to win is howard, but that game is on the road and its their homecoming. and lawd knows you don't even want to look at who we play the subsequent weeks after howard. so i'm just saying, why open the season with a loss if we don't have to? why put that kind of pressure on the team? once that monkey is on our backs, its very hard to get off. at the end of the day, nobody really cares who you beat at the beginning of the season. nobody cared that we beat jcsu to break our 27 game losing streak, but a lot of people were dayum glad we broke that streak! again, i wouldn't care if 10 people showed up to watch us play an edward waters or greensboro college. at least our team wouldn't have to go all season long with that monkey on their backs. it takes the pressure off so that the guys can go out and play without worrying about breaking a losing streak that would be very difficult to break...

yeah, but at least its better than going "ofa". don't we already have enough ofa's in our recent history? do you know of any other hbcu that's had multiple ofa's in recent years? you think not beating howard last season wouldn't have made a difference to a lot of folk?
i'll take a 1-10 over an 0-11 anyday...

Put elon at the top and we could be like boise st. Heavy early schedule weak conference then off to the playoffs. That'd be nice.

It's possible that we could even lose to a so-called "cupcake" team. Then what? Man, A&T football is becoming to stressful!

The danger with intentionally looking for cupcakes when you have a weak squad is it could end up in a very embarassing loss. If we can't beat MEAC teams then there's a decent chance we'd lose to a D-II program as well. Attendance after that would really be ptitiful. Just schedule whoever fits our need the best.
