No more coordinators or position coaches please! Let's hire a head coach with a proven track record. We'll probably have to hire a div. II coach given our financial situation. Like who, who's going to come to a school that is looking for its 6th coach in 10 years True, but those firings have been by multiple ADs. That's not really the schools fault. Regardless of what we did in the past, most coaches will come if we get the AD pick right.

I think our new Coach will be Maynor and Bill Hayes as AD. Coach Hayes was on Campus last week meeting with Martin. Coach Lee is a good Man and just did not have enough time to get things turn around. The writing was on the wall when Brown was moved as AD and when Martin address the Aggie Club and others about forming a New Club just for the Sports Dept, how many times did he bring up Maynor name in the address.

man, i luv coach lee and wish his family all the best. i just think 1-10 is a bit too much to swallow for a program still trying to recover from two consecutive winless seasons.
i'm sure he'll land somewhere on his feet, and when he does, we better hope we don't have to play against one of his defenses anytime soon. last time he got fired from a&t, he haunted us as dc at morgan everytime they played against us...

If A&T hires another MEAC coach or CIAA coach then maybe Lee will haunt the Aggies as a Def Coord on another MEAC team.

You have to count Ragsdale twice since he has been named interim coach two different times.

You have to count Ragsdale twice since he has been named interim coach two different times. You don't "have" to count him. He was interim, not the head coach. He was never hired permanently. This time around he won't even coach a practice or a game. We've fired coaches, but they've all been justified. Small - 6 wins in two years Fobbs - 3 wins in three years Lee - 5 wins in two years Only in Aggie Land...

Coach Lee was not a head coach. He is a very good defensive specialist. He is a good man and good men finish last. Face it and quit complaining. The Chancellor did the right thing no matter how he conveyed it to the public. We would be in the same situation next year so why go through that again. The Chancellor is "cleaning house" and putting the people in place that he wants. Most new Chancellors do this. So it ain't no surprise. He is cleaning house of those coaches who are not producing. Look out Coach Eaves. We are not a Division II school in sports although we look like it. Change is necessary to get us back to Division I status in football and basketball.

True. But most of those same chancellors have enough respect for their alumni and fanbase to explain their decision through a press conference on some extensive statement through the media.
Just announcing that you are firing your head coach and then have 3 paragraphs talking about the interim replacement is the epitome of bush league.
Martin is coming across like an unstable, passive aggressive coward.
If this decision was the right thing to do, stand tall in front of the public and explain why.

Well Thrilla, I see your point...but at this stage, I'm no longer even questioning methods anymore. I don't care how he gets us there but, dadlammit GET US THERE! It's been long enough...so do what you have to do.

Why do we need a press conference? What would Martin say? It's painfully obvious why Lee was fired. Aside from etiquette, the only thing a press conference would do is bring more hype to a bad situation.

Why was it obvious? Because he had a bad season?
Last year the majority of fans on this site were singing his praises and calling him The General. This past offseason all the recruiting experts were saying that he signed the best class in black college football.
So why is it obvious that he was given only two years to rebuild a scrub football program that had won 9 games in the previous 5 years?

It was not the the 1-10 season its how they lost. here are the three things in my opinion that Dr. Martin just could not get out of his head.
**7 Turnovers against Central / mass confusion among Coaches (attendance wise biggest game of year) **Completely embarrased on National TV - Coaches had no viable game plan BC did not score that much on Edward Waters and I probably could start for them **Team quit on Lee in the last game of the season.
When Martin left the SC State game during the 3rd quarter did you thunk he just had the bubble guts ?

'thrilla has a point. We shouldn't have to speculate.
There's not even an announcement on the ncataggies page, but they have updated stories on all the sports.
At least they have Rags in as the interim hc.
