Heard the news this morning and confirmed it with a person inside the A&T athletic department.
Reportedly, Martin gave Wheeler the option of resigning or being terminated and Wheeler chose to get fired.
A press conference is scheduled for today at 1:30 PM.

By my count, this is the fourth A&T Athletics Director we have fired in 10 years.
All four had at least one year remaining on their contract, which A&T was responsible for paying.
Donald Trump only wish he could fire folks as quick as we do. SMH

Now that Wheels is out, Lee has no chioce but to make changes or he is next! I wonder if Chancellor Martin told Wheels to fire Lee and he refused. I wish Wheels all the best.

This is just speculation on my part, but it might have something to do with the timing of the autopsy report being released about the track athlete's death.

The kid having sickle cell trait shows that it was a preventable death, if only a physical had been completed and he had been tested according to NCAA rules. If the investigation showed that A&T athletics had a history of not adhering to the mandatory physical rule, as suggested by Space in the interview he did, that falls on the athletic department.

man, i really feel bad for wheels. i truly admire the guy. yet, i can't say i disagree with his firing. i think maybe he should've been given a little more time. but something had to be done. our athletic department is suffering big time. i just hope this sends a message throughout our athletic department that no one is untouchable.
coach lee must be shaking in his boots now that his boy is gone. i'm a wheels supporter, but i support this move. i just hope he's not being used as a scapegoat. i hope our athletic department will be "thoroughly" reviewed with a new and improved department implemented.
wheels, i truly wish you well, my friend!

Lee was on the road headed to Delaware when the news hit.
I wonder what his reaction was/is.

i don't think he or anyone on his staff can feel secure after hearing this news. as much as i complained about rolling out the new athletic foundation while in the midst of a winless season, i must say its easier for me to swallow now. because this move tells me that there is recognition that something has to be done to improve our athletic department, otherwise it would've been business as usual...

I think that he probably knew that this was coming, though. I wish my classmate the very best...and he will land on-his-feet.
