I wish him the best...but you have to admit this thing fell completely apart at the seams on him. I'm certain he understands it's business and never personal...so, now the question becomes whose next? I hope it doesn't take 6mos to a year to fill the position.

www.myfox8.com/wghp-story-at-director-fired-101015,0,3108880.story A&T Athletic Director Fired Over Track Tryout Death GREENSBORO N.C. (WGHP) - North Carolina A&T's Athletic Director Wheeler Brown was terminated on Friday in the wake of an A&T student who died during a track tryout. Jospin Milandu, 20, of Knightdale collapsed during a track tryout at A&T on Aug. 19. He was transported to Moses Cone hospital, where he died later that day. Brown said Milandu was running laps during practice without an athletic trainer present, which is against school policy. "Word cannot express the profound sadness we feel as an athletic department and a university family," said Brown. Milandu did not have a physical on file at A&T. An investigation report from the medical examiner's office stated Milandu's mother also carried the same sickle-cell traits. The family told the examiner Milandu had no prior similar episodes, nor any other significant medical history. The autopsy, conducted by Dr. Samuel Simmons, lists the full cause of death as "complications of sickle-cell trait with physical exertion." Complications can occur with sickle-cell during periods of physical exertion, and dehydration can further enhance the effects, the autopsy stated. Brown was the 4th athletic director at A&T in the last 10 years.

www.news-record.com/content/2010/10/15/article/wheeler_brown_dismissed_as_at_athletics_director#nrcRgn_PgBodyWheeler Brown dismissed as A&T athletics director. By Gerald Witt Staff Writer N.C. A&T student dies during track tryout (Sep. 17) GREENSBORO — Wheeler Brown, the athletics director at A&T, has been dismissed. The announcement by A&T chancellor Harold L. Martin came at a news conference this afternoon. Martin began by acknowledging the release of the autopsy report on the death of student and track and field team prospect Jospin "Andre" Milandu. The report showed that Milandu died at a tryout Aug. 19 of "complications of sickle cell trait." "As a parent, my heart continues to ache for Andre's family and friends," Martin said. Milandu was one of 29 A&T students who took part in the workout but did not have physicals on file, a requirement by the NCAA and A&T. Physical examinations are required by the NCAA to include testing for sickle cell trait. The tryout, A&T has said, was not approved by the athletics department. Then Martin added, "Today I have discontinued the employment of our athletics director, Wheeler Brown. I have asked Dr. Deborah Callaway, special assistant to the chancellor, to assume administrative oversight for the immediate future until an interim athletics director is named within the next week. I will immediately launch an aggressive, national search for a new leader of our athletics program. "This new leadership for athletics will be expected to bring significant managerial and leadership skills, knowledge of athletics, the ability to develop a high-performing organization and the ability to manage the necessary cultural changes to ensure enhanced services, transparency and indivdiual accountability."Brown was appointed athletics director in August 2008 after working for nearly than a year as the interim athletics director. The former A&T football player was hired by the university as an associate athletics director in 2002.

Not surprisingly, today's press conference was a complete farce.
Each media outlet was only allowed to ask one question and they were not allowed any follow-ups.
Only two of us there bothered to ask questions. The reporter next to me raised his hand for a follow up but Martin just acted like he was invisible. Then he and his new PR person sped out of the room.

Damn. My next question was gonna be about the status of Darryl Hill, our current compliance director who was appointed by Wheeler.
