Hillside will be in the small 4A come playoff time. I'm reading that there is a good possibility New Bern will be small 4A also (they are borderline).
If so, those two teams will play for the eastern championship and the game will be EPIC.

you're right, gator. after all, the guys are averaging over 40 points a game! but let's "bear" in mind that we haven't played any 4a teams yet even though we've beaten two 3a teams that are traditionally playoff teams and a 2a team that had been previously been unscored against. but we finally get to play a 4a team this week and hopefully the results will be the same. we're only a couple of years removed from the 4aa state championship and it appears that we're on our way back... new bern bears still undefeated (6-0) and still averaging more than 41 points per game! just crushed wilmington new handover last weekend 38-20. bears have "speed" to burn! wilmington hoggard, you're up next... new bern bears still undefeated! 8-0 and averaging almost 45 points per game! just put up 63 points against ashley beating them 63-0. halftime score was 56-0, could have easily put up almost 100 points if the starters hadn't been taken out at halftime. and we're playing 4AA ball! don't know why we're only ranked 9th in the state. wilmington laney, you're up next... ;D

Blankman,
You just might get your wish. New Bern and Hillside are in the same playoff brackett for the east region. Hillside won the toss for the top seed. If both teams win then you'll see a New Bern at Hillside match up for the 4A East Region.

On a sad note the most powerful program in state history has been dismantled. Not only did Charlotte Independence lose Tom Knotts but the school district broke them up by shipping half the student body over to Rocky River High School. That included 60 football players from last years team. They finished the season with a 3-8 record.
