I never would have thunk that Charlotte Independence would start the season at 0-3!

you're right, gator. after all, the guys are averaging over 40 points a game! but let's "bear" in mind that we haven't played any 4a teams yet even though we've beaten two 3a teams that are traditionally playoff teams and a 2a team that had been previously been unscored against. but we finally get to play a 4a team this week and hopefully the results will be the same. we're only a couple of years removed from the 4aa state championship and it appears that we're on our way back...

As far as I'm concerned the only other team that's better than HILLSIDE in the state is Mallard Creek out of Charlotte. And I'm not too sure they'd beat us...well they might.

Dudley-Smith football game a hot ticket again
Tuesday, September 21, 2010 (Updated 9:01 am) By Jason Wolf Staff WriterGREENSBORO — A large crowd is expected at Smith High School on Friday night for what promises to be one of the more competitive football games in years between Dudley and the undefeated Eagles. Dudley (4-1), the No. 1 team in the News & Record's most recent area high school football rankings, is coming off a 33-8 drubbing by Durham Hillside and Georgia Tech-bound quarterback Vad Lee. Smith (5-0) is surging and hasn't won its first six games to open a season since the 1970s, football coach Rodney Brewington said. Smith athletics director Jerry Meusel said the school is adding extra security and end-zone seating at Manzi Stadium to accommodate the expected crowd. He estimated the stadium can seat 5,000 and that 7,000 will be able to get into the venue for Friday's 7:30 p.m. game. "At some point we're going to have to cut it off," Meusel said. "When we see we're at capacity, we're just going to have to shut the gates." Advance tickets will go on sale Thursday and Friday during lunch period at Smith and will cost $6. The school will begin selling tickets at the gate between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Friday, Meusel said. Those wishing to tailgate should contact the high school to reserve a spot. Go Tarboro!! Class 2A state champs last year and off to a good start this season. They have probably the most team speed than any school in the state. I mean these kids can fly. I would love to see a playoff game between them and Reidsville. It would be a really good 2A matchup.

I agree but Reidsville's offense seems to be struggling a lil bit this year at least compared to last year.

I think Hillside should be ranked higher than Richmond County. It looks like these rankings are based on a little tradition as well...you have an unbeaten Greensboro Smith squad that can't get any love either. But the see Dudley tonite.

Well fellas I must admit...my high school traveled to Roxboro Person and ran into a buzz-saw...they looked up and the score was 14-0 Person. Hillside was in shock...needless to say, the final score was 48-23 Hillside...ke, ke, ke. Yeah, they woke us up and got pimp smacked. All I gotta say is....Pimping ain't easy but, somebody gotta do it!
