Man I am trying hard to imagine that I am actually exchanging comments over an internet message board with someone who knows what he is talking about... but to be shocked and in awe that we got blown the f@%k out by a program like LSU shows you are truly the clown of all internet clowns.
There are numerous things that lead to a squad like ours not performing their best against a top ranked team and program. Intimidation, a lack of confidence, a HUGE talent gap (imagine that), better funded, and better resources are just a few of the reasons to why 9 and a half times out of 10 we are going to get blown off the floor by a team like LSU. Chip shots you would normally make you miss because you are nervous, passes that you would normally make you turnover, and you are going up against first class, top tier athletes....WHO ARE JUST BETTER THAN OURS. I know your blue and gold brain wont allow you to process that because to admit that would be blasphemy to you. But their program is light years ahead of ours and their athletes are in a different category than ours.
That's just the truth dude. If we played LSU ten times, they would win ten times, and maybe in ONE of those games we would be within 20 points. But your argument is so weak that I will stop now. Again...try having this conversation with anyone outside of this website and see how loud they would laugh at you....like I am now.

even though we had ample open looks, there was a stretch in the first half where our ladies shot 1 of 21 ( 4.7%) from the floor, we go over 11 minutes without a single score, with 3 minutes left in the first half we had more turnovers (13) than points (7), tweet makes a shot at the buzzer just before halftime otherwise we only have 8 points at the half, we finish the 1st half with more turnovers (14) than points (10), and even lsu's radio announcers said the lady aggies looked tired and out of breath. yet, your dumb azz (despite not seeing the game) thinks we shot that poorly because lsu is 42 points more talented than us! man, what an idiot... Where Oleschool watches and discusses all Aggie sports: such antics are a sure sign that you've been "outclassed"! thanks for the compliment! ;D but you're still a dumb azz.

Freeze,
Thats a great name for you because apparaently your brain can not be in your head pull it out of the frezer.
You are blasting post yet you never saw the game. We have ladies in our straring linup that are 15 pounds and more overweight. But according to you that's not an issue and had no bearing on how we played. Everthing you are saying is based on that old thinking that we could not possibly be any whether near as talented as LSU. And the gap is 40 points and always be.
All we are simply trying to tell your frozen brain is that our conditioning and overweight status had an impact on the score of the game. If we were in tip top shape had done the off-season work it would not have been a 40 point plus blow-out. Nobody is saying we would have won the game the score would have been 20 points or so closer.
It so obvious you are trying to pick up were ahhbigboy left off. Get your brain out of the freezer

I can understand points everyone is making but I must agree with Freeze in this instance. The truth is that Bibbs has raised our expectations to a level that we just don't expect or accept losses like this. In an earlier post prior to this game I predicted it would be tough for the ladies to hold this one under a 30 point margin. Why? Because this isn't the same Lady Aggies of the previous two years without Bland and Taylor-James. Although we have the coaching and heart to compete with most teams on any given day, our reality is we do not have the talent to compete with a perennial top 5 program yet. What we do have since Bibbs arrival is a very good mid-major program built with mid-major talent that is still improving.

all true, decks. no one is saying we're as good as lsu. but when was the last time the lady aggies shot 4.7% from the floor and a grand total of 8 points 19:58 minutes into the first half? guys, go watch the video. we had open looks at the basket and shot air balls or near air balls, twice. lsu's defense didn't cause that!
one's talent has nothing at all to do with one's conditioning. why is it that not a single one of lsu's players (they played their entire bench against us) were overweight? fitness is "extremely important" in basketball. and if i'm imagining things, then explain to me why lsu's announcers "explicitly" mentioned that the lady aggies physically looked tired and out of breath? is that just a coincidence? does talent determine how "winded and out of breath" a player gets?
and i may also add, that basketball fitness is not the same as general population fitness. in other words, i'm not saying our ladies are "fat". but i am saying that in terms of "national class" division 1 basketball, several of our ladies are overweight. now there may be legitimate reasons for some of them being overweight due to injuries/illness. but there's still some who aren't injured or ill that are overweight.
like i stated previously, when we play famu, you will see that their players do not carry "any" excess weight. their muscle definition isn't as defined as lsu's, but it's more defined than ours and they're way leaner than we are.
you can quote me on this, "if nothing changes" between now and the time we play famu, famu will be much quicker than us and will beat us silly in transition all day because our ladies will not be able to keep up. they're not taller than us, but they have lean and trim frames just like lsu does and most other major d1 teams. we have enough talent on our team that we ought to be able to clean famu's clock. but if nothing changes, don't be surprised if we struggle with them, have trouble getting our shots off, and have trouble with them beating us off the bounce. we have explosive talent on our team but we will not see any explosiveness from them unless they're in tip top shape!
i'm done with this topic. i'll let ya'll find out for yourselves. i luv the lady aggies and no one wants to see them succeed any more than i do. we're loaded with talent, but they will not be able to perform at a "peak level" unless they're in tip top condition.
now here's some positive news that i saw regarding the lsu game. deblanc got more minutes against lsu than she had in recent games and she did a pretty decent job. my guess is that the staff has slowly brought her along since the new mexico games and "i'm guessing" that she hasn't had any recurrence of the problems she had since then. if so, that's great news.
also, i confirmed what jaybee said, the lsu announcers did indicate that the trainers were looking at mona's "ankle" when she got injured and not necessarily her knee. they showed a very brief sideline shot where the trainers were working on mona's ankle. ankle injuries are very common in basketball and as long as it isn't fractured and/or there's no ligament damage, she should be able to come back which is also great news...

Okay, Oleschool. You say you want to see the ladies perform at their "peak level" and that conditioning is key. Lets say our ladies came in to Baton Rouge to play the #5 ranked LSU Lady Tigers on their home floor (again...a perennial ranked women's program and the only team in the SEC that has challenged the Lady Vols over the last ten years) in tip top condition and they are not greatly affected from having to play games back to back. Do you think we have a legitimate shot at winning? Do you think we lose by 15? How about 20? If we get blown out by 20 does that make you feel better after a loss rather than coming in this forum to present what essentially boils down to excuses for why we looked so bad against the #5 team in the country. If we had gotten blown out by 20 rather than 40 would you have said (foolishly I might add) that the gap between the two programs were closing??
By comparison, we lost by 22 points on November 27 to New Mexico and turned around THE NEXT day and managed to beat Yale by 1. If your model held true, how did we manage to pull off the victory against Yale in the only other game we have played this year in a back to back scenario??
Look folks....if you want to say that our ladies need to be better conditioned...fine. What athlete doesn't perform better whose in better shape. But by running in to our fan forum the day after we have played a program like LSU and trying to suggest things could have turned out different if our girls were in shape is really not that fair to our women to be honest with you.
Let them improve and get better and become a competitive mid-major on their own time schedule. We are all proud of what they have been able to accomplish over the last three years. I am sure Bibbs knows what she is doing and I am also pretty sure she was not surprised by the outcome of the game. It's LSU....period. And the cold, hard truth is that we are no where near to being on their level and are more than likely, never going to be unless their is a huge shift in the very nature of womens basketball. There is not a lot of parity in this sport and the top ten programs are typically FAR better than the rest, let alone an upstart mid-major program that is just beginning to flourish at that level like we are.
As Decks has said, the expectations of grandeur are not that fair to these ladies and to be honest, it just doesn't happen in women's basketball. Good luck to the ladies for the rest of the year and as Oleschool has said, a little conditioning goes a long way....just not THAT long against the #5 ranked team in LSU.

Tweet nor Jaleesa played in the New Mexico game due to back injuries. Tweet is the leading scorer and team captain. Just something to think about.

My point about New Mexico was not about whether we won or lost. The point was...we played the next day and we won. Conditioning didn't seem to be a problem in handling Yale the next day. Lets not make excuses about getting our azzes kicked when we play elite competition. It is what it is.

Freeze,
You are talking all over yourself --- your words "conditioning didn't seem to be a problem in handeling Yale" No __ sherlock; Yale is no were wear near beong an elite team. We can be out of shape and carry extra weight and beat Yale.
As I have said and Oleschool, nobody is suggestion that we would have beat LSU if our conditioning was better. Does it matter if you lose by 40 plus points or highteens - 20. Absouletly. In most 20 point wins the better team pulls away at the end but the lessor team has something to build on since they played with the top team for a half or better. There is nothing to build on from a 40 point drubbing with 10 points scored at the half.
Freeze I have one question for you. Have seen our ladies this year in person or via the web ?

By suggesting that Yale is less talented only supports Freeze's point. I would think a better defense would say that the Yale game was close due to the lack of conditioning, in fact that was a last second win.
In watching the replay, I don't think conditioning was the great distinguisher that ya’ll are trying to make it to be, especially in the first half. From my view the talent level is significant, not so much from a pure athletic standpoint, but mentally LSU was ready to play and we didn't match their level of intensity.
Though we missed some open looks, we threw up a lot of junk shots and turn-overs that are uncharacteristic of this team. While LSU missed open looks also they said focused, especially defensively. I don’t know if LSU is 40+ points better than the Aggies every night, but I don’t contribute this 40 point loss to conditioning, I contribute it to not being able to match their fire power, especially from the perimeter.

Good luck to the ladies for the rest of the year and as Oleschool has said, a little conditioning goes a long way....just not THAT long against the #5 ranked team in LSU. first of all, your statements are totally "incorrect". lsu is not the only sec team to challenge tennessee in the last 10 years. again i repeat, you don't know what you're talkin' bout! just last year "auburn" won the sec regular season championship and beat tennessee by "20 points" in the sec tournament. and "vanderbilt" won the sec tournament last year, not tennessee. now that was just last year! but over 10 years, several other sec teams have challenged tennessee as well like florida and georgia. so you need to get your facts straight and stop spewing out a bunch of stuff you make up! how much credibility can you possibly have when you make bold statements like that that are completely false! now, in regard to your scenario pertaining us being physically fit to play lsu. anything is possible, but no, i wouldn't expect us to beat them. and i don't know how many points we'd lose by. but i do know that we played auburn last year when they were ranked #5 in the country and we only loss to them by 21 points. so its not unreasonable to me to expect us to lose to lsu by less than 30 points and its not unreasonable for me to expect us to score more than 10 points in the first half! last year, we scored "42" points against auburn in the first half! and we shot "55%" from the floor, not an embarrassing "4.7%"! jee sams made 5 out of 6 field goals and scored 15 points last year against #5 ranked auburn. but against lsu, she only shot 1 of 6 from the floor and scored just 6 points. shouldn't she be a little better than last year? (btw, not picking on sams, she's had a back injury this year.) see, the difference between me and you is that i back my arguments up with "facts", you back your arguments up with "fiction"! and you quite simply don't get the point! it's not so much about how many points you lose by, it's about how you looked in doing so. 4.7% shooting (that alone says it all!), "essentially" only scored 8 total points in the first half, we had more turnovers than points (we beatin' ourselves), etc. do ya get my drift? disregarding the final score, do you really think lsu caused all of that? you think their defense was so good, it caused us to shoot a ridiculous unheard of 4.7% from the floor? i mean, even houston baptist (a 2-9 team that nccu punished), scored 15 points against lsu in the first half! you think houston baptist is more talented than us? as sorry as houston baptist is, even they shot 26% from the field compared to our 4.7%! but you still think lsu caused all our woes! if you go to any "credible" basketball coach and list several symptoms to him/her (4.7% shooting, more turnovers than points, players tired and out of breath, players overweight in terms of basketball, etc.) and asked him/her what they think the problem was? they'd reply without hesitation that the players were probably out of shape. all of those things are symptoms of being out of shape. again, when was the last time you've seen "any" team shoot 4.7% from the field? man, that's got to be close to a record! regarding the yale game, yale has never been a top ranked team! last year's aggie team would have blown them out by 20 or 30 points. we ought to be able to beat them whether we're in shape or not. man, you can sit here and make all the excuses in the world! but there's "no excuse" for shooting 4.7%! none! 4.7% man!! 4.7% man!! can you get that in your brain! so you say just brush off 4.7% shooting as if it's no big deal, no concerns, we played a big time program, it's okay. yeah, right...
