I hate it for Small, but he and the coaching staff did not perform up to standards, you have to win more than you lose on any level of football and any other sport.

A&T ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN FOOTBALL PROGRAM
GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina A&T State University Director of Athletics, Dee Todd, announced today that head football coach George Small and his staff will not return to the Aggie sideline in 2006.
"Today, Coach George Small and his staff were dismissed after careful review and consideration of the direction of our football program. In line with our commitment to the development of student-athletes and to our Division I-AA status, we feel that it is in the best interest of our football program to make this change. This allows the University to begin the process of finding Coach Small's successor," said Todd.
The process for finding the next football coach will begin immediately. The University will conduct a national search and will seek someone with extensive experience in the Division I-A ranks that will help A&T become a highly competitive program in the MEAC, one of the most competitive Division I-AA conferences in the country.
"As with each of our institutional goals, building a strong athletics program requires us to look carefully at our strengths and weaknesses and to critically examine the reality within which we operate," Todd said. "The plan for our athletics programs is to build a strong, successful program that complements A&T's academic programs.
"The North Carolina A&T State University family thanks Coach Small and staff for their years of service and wishes them and their families the best with their future plans."

Dee Todd did not waste anytime, Girlfriend is not playing any games. I'm glad she's the AD in Aggie land.

So what are the feelings of my fellow "AGGIES" on the decision to fire Small and his staff.

Ms. Todd is REAL, I love it... I honestly thought he would get another year cuz he was alumni and all that but, why hold off the inevitable right?

It had to be done. Now the replacement decision is critical. It should come quickly.

It's probably already decided.
She'd better not pull a Jackson State and hire one of her cousins that's a I-A assistant. If she does he'd better win or they'll be out on the same skateboard.
Best of luck to Coach Small. That man is a class act and a good man. Every time I saw him or spoke to him he was very friendly and always put a smile on my face despite the circumstances. He's one of the very few coaches I've interacted with that didn't make me feel I needed to take a shower to wash off the sleeze after I'd been in his presence. And yes I am including the coaches that coached me during my scholastic career in that assessment.
Anybody on this board over 15 probably has had a dream something or other go horribly awry and had to start over. I know I have and so I empathize with him. I pray he and the staff all land on their feet and I pray that we continue to welcome them with open arms to any event we see them.

Well I hope a new Coach is put into place rather quickl, and that Dee Todd makes a wise decision on who she elects to bring in. It's time for the resurgence of the program. It's bad that Coach Small and his staff had to loose their job's. Hopefully those guys we find jobs rather quickly. Hopefully Coach Small will hold his head and still chant those famous words "AGGIE PRIDE"

I feel you dooms, but I dont see this as being such a "fall on your face" experience. The man has been to the NFL, and he has plenty of contacts nationwide. Its not like failing out of college or anything.
Sadly enough, with the present state of the coaching profession, its the norm. 3 years is probably the average stint these days, so I'm sure he has plenty of things lined up.

This is the man that answered the call when his alma mater needed him. For him not to get the time necessary to get the job done is really a shame. The norm is 4 or 5 years, not three. The rule of thumb is to evaluate when your first recruiting class graduates.

Hey it's over officially for Smalls, give it up. One more year with Smalls!! No one wanted to take that chance. How do you know the rule of thumb is to evaluate your first recruiting class graduates. I think Small situation was different ( YOU CAN NOT LOSE TWO SEASONS IN A ROW EVEN IF YOU WON THE MEAC BEFORE THE LOSING STARTS.)
