No one in this group would turn down a $300K raise... Your spouses would divorce you for turning down $300K raise. That kind of money can have impacts for multiple generations. Exactly

Why is most trying to turn this discussion into what is the better job or offer? You would have to be blind to not be able to see which deal is best. I said it is a bad look for a coach to "sign" a contract versus "accept" the job offer. Players do this all the time now, but rarely do you hear of a coach doing this. That is the only reason this is even a topic worth discussing for me. This is an honor, integrity, etc question and not a which job is better question? Give me a few names where this has happened recently (last 3 years) with coaches that "signed" and then went elsewhere. I don't get into the coaches as much as many of you so I could be completely wrong based on my limited knowledge. There are plenty of examples where coaches deny rumors they are moving on, yet you learn later it was true. Do you remember this?🙂 www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=2705288

I understand the logic from his perspective, but it just does not look good when you signed a contract and within a few weeks or months you leave not as a result of your employer doing anything wrong. Do we really know what really happened between TSU and this OC . For all we know that could have been conditioned within his contract that were supposed to be met by certain date and time or it was an institutional decision. If those conditions were not met in a timely manner then his contract would be void ( hypothetically speaking) . There could be numerous reasons why he decided to to jet or TSU decided to part ways with him . The friends that I know that are active in Tennessee State Sports will only say " It just didn't work out and TSU is moving on" It's evident that TSU has moved on from the issue and chooses not to talk about it. Somewhere down the line to story will come out. I disagree. If his contract was voided due to TSU not fulfilling a major obligation in the contract, you would have heard about it. Remember the OC would not want his name soiled in the coaching industry because this is a good old boy network. Coaches get recycled. Do I know this for certain? No, but the odds are low "in my opinion." I do agree with you that TSU did not make a big deal of the matter and has moved on.

No, I think it is more to it than just taking the better offer. At some point timing and integrity have to mean something. Especially in the world of college football where relationships are so important. We have seen examples of where people comprised their values for a short term payout and eventually regretted it. This seems to be par for the course when it comes to coaching. I've seen multiple examples this year alone of coaches agreeing in principal for one job just to jump for the one they really want. Boston College had this happen with Bill O'Brien. He jumped to that job after accepting the OC role at Ohio State. Good example on O'Brien, but I am unaware of multiple cases especially this year or last season.
