Don't want to debate all of the comments about the play call or execution by the running back but my lawd, check out our linemen on the right side. I'm no offensive expert but that sure looks awful. We may have the worst OC in the FCS but we also have some really bad offensive linemen.

The pressure came from the blitzing left LB on the other side. The lineman looked fine to me on that particular play. Yeah, one guy got loose sooner than you would want, but he had decent time if the routes/execution was better. If the RB floats to where the blitz came from he is running for days, but not sure it was even designed for him to do that. He was strictly pass blocking like it was a deep ball play call. After 7 games I just dont think the OC told our guy "Read it yourself and if the LB in front of you blitzes then go hot into the flats". I cant bring myself to think that's what he was told and just didn't do it. But thats exactly what a GOOD OC would have taught the RBs or drilled into the RB coach to teach.

forget everything I said above Thrilla, my bad. That was a dumb a$$ play call and design. Period, LOL. I looked at it again a little closer. The RB he playactioned to was not the one that should have been in the flats. He was in the middle still blocking. The up-back/fullback should have been in the flats but he was "blocking" a guy that wasn't even rushing, LOL. The LB was looking at him like "Dawg, are you going to do something or not? OK, I'll just stand here and make sure we dont miss a tackle", LOL The play was probably designed to go to the back. The RB saw Eli in trouble and froze. He did not know whether to run back towards the ball or keep going so he just stood there. I agree with Thrilla, but I just added that the success rate albeit low was higher than if the play was designed to target the WRs. Too many problems with the design of that play. Not much time remained in the game so maybe the coaches and players had checked out on a 4th down play and long.

Because the QB was under center this was not a quick design play. I believe the RB was to block and release. He never had an assignment to pickup the blitz from the backside. The left side blocking also was wrong on that play. They blocked down leaving the outside LB free. He would have been blocked if it wasn't for that blocking scheme. We are second guessing the blocking, but in reality we need to give credit to the defense that they created the blocking confusion on that play.
