We sign great players year in and out with our brown grass. that may be true. but what we don’t know is if we missed out on even “greater” recruits because of the brown grass. same argument for coach “t” rob. coach rob is doing an excellent job bringing in great recruits despite the condition of corbett. but imagine what he could do if he also had an “immaculate” basketball facility to complement his recruiting? chances are he’ll begin to bring in kids of an even higher caliber than he already has like that mcdonald’s all american selectee that hampton recently signed. doesn’t hurt hampton to have an arena that can compete with just about any pwc midmajor basketball arena...

another way to look at the brown grass situation is that there is an “unwritten” ncaa standard that says a division 1 football program does not go on national tv with brown grass and a&t is one of the “extreme few” institutions who don’t meet that standard. i mean, over the last several years, i don’t ever recall “any” other college stadium on national tv that had brown grass. never! other than a&t and its an “embarrassment”.
when you look at that aggie football promotional video that has all of the tarik cohen highlights, not a single frame of the highlights on that video shows aggie stadium when the grass was brown. ever wonder why? why not show the brown grass on our promotional video? common sense says we don’t do it because it looks “horrible” and it is a turnoff to the fans and the potential corporate sponsors who you’re trying to attract to aggie stadium with that video.
if there’s nothing wrong with a division 1 football program having brown grass, why is it that a&t is virtually the only one who has it?

I'm less concerned about the brown grass' effect on the football program than I am its effect on the AGRICULTURAL DEPT.!
North Carolina AGRICULTURAL and Technical State University should not have a blade of brown grass anywhere on campus, period.
As bad a statement the grass is for the football program, it's simply a far worse statement about a key academic program on our campus. The field is across the skreet from the danged Ag building and we got alumni on here trying to buy up green paint to paint the field instead. The alumni should never be put in that position in the first place at a farm school.
Somebody write a letter. I was an English major so I don't care enough to do it. Despite that, the fact that people have been on here complaining about it for years is a problem. Being stuck with bad coaches is one thing, but being stuck with a problem that you have the on-campus resources to be able to combat sitting right across the street is just too much.

I'm with you Dooms.......there are only 5 days in the entire year where our field needs to be in tip-top shape......5 days. You cannot tell me someone cannot formulate a plan to ensure the field is in pristine condition for just 5 game days.....this ain't about finances. This is about common sense and preparation.

Just for the record Professor when athletic fields are "painted" ,they don't actually use paint it is a food coloring similar to what is used to dye Easter eggs .

i remember 2 years ago, we painted (or dyed) our grass for the hampton game on espnu and it looked absolutely “lovely” on tv! i didn’t know it had been painted at the time, had me all excited about coming to ghoe a week or 2 later. but when ghoe came around, all of a sudden our grass was friggin brown again, all “jacked up”. that’s when i first realized that we paint/dye our grass sometimes.
i still have that hampton game stored on my dvr and the green grass really gives aggie stadium a “first class” look. but when the grass is brown, or worse, when there’s large “dirt patches” on the surface like it was for this past spring game, it brings the new skybox, new jumbotron and everything else at aggie stadium “down”. looks very "low rent" for an fcs school...

Now this is a drum worth beating. Students should be involved in all aspects of our Athletic Dept. Agricultural Dept, Business school with marketing and promotion , Broadcast production , Public Relations , Landscape Engineering , etc. I mean its a internship for students that need real world experience

The field is an example of some of the complexity between athletics and the administration. Chancellor Martin is definitely an athletics supporter... but from the provost down, athletics has not historically been a priority at A&T. That may be tough to visualize as part of the fanatical athletics supporter on this media space... but looking at the big picture, it's a reality.
Navigating that isn't easy.

hey, i just noticed on the espn website that all of our games this season (except st. aug) will be streamed live on espn3! has that ever happened? I don't recall it ever happening. perhaps this is the benefit of the tarik cohen attraction. but heck, what will this do to the aggie locktv broadcasts? espn3 streaming services are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than ours...

It looks as if A&T vs BCU is moved to Thursday night. Ticketmaster is selling tickets to the game with a 7:30 start time on that Thursday.
The last one we may see moved is our game with SC State.
We got a bunch of TV Games this year. Our Aggies will be going through Fall Camp with targets on their backs.

Wow, this is exciting news...and something many Aggies have wanted for sometime now. The largest HBCU in the country, HBCU national champs, conference champs...now I'm willing to bet we will be the most televised HBCU in the country.
My question is "Are We Ready For Prime Time"
Our academic standing, and athletic success will only bring more exposure.
It would be great if we can use this type of thing to grow the university.
