Again......the 3-3-5 was only run when it was 3rd down and extremely long.......we didn't run it on 1st or 2nd down. We didn't run it on 3rd and 2. It was purely for 3rd and extremely long. I'd run this defense in the same scenario, regardless of which team we go against. Our front 3 was very effective in getting pressure......when factoring that in with the remaining 3-5 cloaking the field, it is extremely difficult to convert 3rd and extremely long with this defense.....
This was good strategy by our defensive staff ((and yes, this is NSS giving a compliment to our staff)).

And for whoever said the 3-3-5 didn't generate enough pressure: First 4 games: 7 sacks, 27 total TFLs 10/10 vs NSU: 7 sacks, 13 total TFLs Denzel Jones is still holding it down at MLB on the 1st 2 downs. But when you can sub and have 2 LBs who can blitz (Julius Reynolds and Jeremy Taylor) and at least one who can cover well (Marcus Albert)... it's a tough defense to handle on 3rd and long. Plus... as the season wears on, we can put Julian McKnight at the NT in that set and kick Ragland out to DE along with Keyes/Hampton-Prioleau/Blue. It's a credit to Coach Washington for not putting this out too soon... there won't be a lot of game tape for the MEAC coaches to digest for this one. i think it worked extremely well “against norfolk”. but i don’t think i would try a 3-3-5 against bcu because bcu has a ground game. but to me, it was a perfect call for norfolk because other than their qb (hankerson), they pretty much don’t have a running game and our front 3 were able to put pressure on hankerson which was “amazing” considering nsu kept at least 5 or 6 guys in for pass protection! i think the 3-3-5 took away norfolk’s strength which is to pass the football and that played to our advantage... I think we've established that this defense is an obvious passing down defense, not a base defense. But if it's 3rd and 7 or longer...it can be run against any team in the MEAC. Coach Washington could even do a "Jumbo" look with Hampton-Prioleau/Blue at DE, move Angelo Keyes to LB and Marcus Albert to the Bandit position. Keyes is a good enough athlete in coverage, but has more muscle to thump against draw plays I like the fact that we had 2 LBs get 3 sacks out of the alignment. So we're not just sending 3 rushers out of it all the time. We're sending a 4th... but the QB has no clue pre-snap who the 4th one is... or if they're coming at all. We're going to see this more than we think.

raynard is a "below 50%" passer and is a "zero threat" to run the ball. every year you people call for the backup qb, so next year you'll be calling for raynard's backup, never fails. bottom line? neither of our qb's are above average qb's, period. raynard completes less than 50% of his passes and is no threat to run the ball which puts even more pressure on "cohen". quick also completes less than 50% of his passes, but at least he's a threat to run the ball thereby taking some of the pressure off of cohen. the 2 qb system is the best system for this team this year. every year you people throw the starting qb under the bus, no different this year. raynard might as well be prepared to look over his shoulder next season if its left up to the fans...

Well Oldschoolaggie you wrong about the no threat to the run. Make sure you come to my tailgate this year. I got to meet you for homecoming lol c’mon, trues. raynard has rushed for a “grand total” of ”8” net yards for the entire season. the entire season! not 1 game, not 2 games, but the entire friggin’ season! his average yards per carry is a whopping “0.3” yards per carry. and that little 9 yard td run video against “d2” shaw who we scored over 60 points against really doesn’t prove very much. however, i’ll take you up on that tailgate offer! i’ll probably roll into greensboro for ghoe on thursday night which will give me plenty of time to relax and hangout all weekend long. parking might be a problem, but i plan to get to the game early enough to catch the tailgating. just know that i don’t eat “red meat”, so make sure you have some poultry (chicken/turkey) or some seafood on your doggone grill! and my beverage of choice is coors light or any quality light beer...

....I don't understand why you're focused on a Raynard's rushing numbers. In our offense, Raynard should only run if: 1) A designed QB run is called. 2) If there are no passing options down the field. If the OC was calling QB runs constantly for Raynard, then those numbers you quote would hold some weight. Frankly, I don't think it matters what Raynard's rushing yards are. He's not in there to be our 2nd RB ---- he's our QB.

OSA, what do you mean by "you people"? I know you think you are smarter than everyone, now you think you are better than everyone.
You sound like Donald Trump and a few others.

I tussled back and forth but this year instead attending my one game I decided to pass on homecoming and attend the NCCU game. I am hopeful we will be completing a undefeated MEAC season and that the atmosphere will be festive (tailgate and all)

Hey guys...we are winning. This debate over QB's sounds like we have lost the last 5 games by double digits. As for who starts, if coach Broadway thinks that Quick should start, that's good enough for me. I know Quick is not a fast as he was before the injury but he got hurt playing for us. I know sports fans don't like to hear this but we owe Quick an opportunity to play. He isn't performing up to our expectations because he's not trying...he's just not physically able. And as long as Coach Broadway thinks he can play, I say let the kid play.

I hope we are undefeated at the NCCU game and I am preying that we wear them out this year. We owe them big-time. Another loss to those dirty birds and I'm going to have to leave the state.

But you don't think for you say Quick is below average QB is sad going into his Senior Year. At least Raynard has a excuse (red shirt freshmen).

At least Raynard has a excuse (red shirt freshmen). i still think quick is suffering somewhat from his knee injury that occurred last year. i don’t see the “burst” that he had last year before he incurred the injury. mind you, his “speed” was his #1 asset. take his #1 asset away and quick becomes a below average qb, imo. but give him his speed back and he’s an above average qb, imo...

If he is still injured, all the more reason not to play him.
