I have a feeling Dr. Martin is on board with us leaving the MEAC. The attitude is that limitations are unacceptable. Limiting your program and conference in this fashion is just like quitting because you feel you can't compete (cowards).
A&T has always been at the forefront of making a difference, I hope we make the move soon. Something tells me a deal is already on the table and we were just waiting the MEAC to do what it has done.

Let's keep it real for a minute...... For all of us talking about how dissatisfied we are with a revived Heritage Bowl scenario, how serious are we about the playoffs when many of our schools DO NOT PUT IN BIDS (ie. 5-figure checks) to host FCS playoff games. It's hard to win in the playoffs when you try to win on the road week in and week out. If we would've beaten Central, had we put in a bid to host the game against Richmond? ?? Seriously - if we ain't gonna put in money for home playoff games, but can make a little piece of change in a Heritage Bowl game, I have a feeling which direction we're gonna end up taking.

Well if the move is to the SoCon, UNCG will have to play in Corbett.

I agree NHS. Also i do not thick that A&T will be leaving the MEAC anytime soon anyway. Let's just see how this Bowl game work out before we jumpship.

I can't believe that YOU, NSS, of all people, are giving in to this Jim Crow Classic without at least a profound argument against it.We just had the most-interesting season of football in MEAC history, and now we are talking about giving up?? C'mon, man!!! OK...I guess I'm in this fight by myself. I've made some calls...and I'll make some more on Monday, but I'm not giving in to the SWAC and Commissioner Thomas forcing us to leave the FCS Playoffs for a few pieces of silver ($30,000).

Blame it on Aggie77. He knew about this way back during the Elon game but he didn't tell anybody. Yeah, and I'm putting up the $2M too! All I did was ask the right person, the right question at the right time. You saw what happen, he was waiting to tell somebody. The mostly interesting thing said, this ain't about attendance, but ratings. Apparently the MEAC/SWAC has better than you would think national ratings. Actually, it's PJ's fault.

aggierattler, I'm not giving into "Jim Crow" thinking one bit. I'm just thinking out loud. How serious are many MEAC schools about winning the FCS playoffs if many of us don't even fork out money for a home playoff game? Having the home field advantage is what virtually every professional sport plays its regular season for to ascertain. I know we're aren't professional sports, but home field advantage is a crucial component for playoff success....again, if A&T would've beaten Central, how many of us truly believe we had made the financial commitment to get a first round game at Aggie Stadium......
As far as my thoughts about what we should do in the postseason, I would love to see us compete in the FCS playoffs....but truth be told, the FCS playoffs just aren't that popular. I gotta Be honest; the FCS playoffs don't move me. As soon as the MEAC rep loses, I'm already on to the next thing. They just don't keep me interested. When the MEAC rep loses in the Big Dance in basketball, I keep watching the Big Dance to the very end. In the NBA and NFL, when my favorite team loses, I don't stop watching the playoffs. Whether we want to admit it or not, the FCS playoffs aren't must see TV....even with die-hard sports fans.
As far as the Heritage Bowl is concerned, it doesn't mean that much to me either. Beating a SWAC champion wouldn't make me feel like I accomplished much of anything.
We're sort of in a quandary..... participate in a financially -disadvantageous playoff system or play in a meaningless black bowl....
I never thought I would say it, but to end our season with an MEAC Championship Game may be something we really need to consider. So if it was up to me..... #1) MEAC Championship Game #2) FCS playoff participation #3 (and far below the first 2 choices)) Heritage Bowl Again, if we are serious about an FCS title, we have to be ALL-IN with how it is financially constituted currently. I can't expect us to go to the stadiums of some of the best teams in the CAA, Missouri Valley and Big Sky conferences over consecutive weeks and expect to come back to Greensboro in late December hoisting an FCS championship trophy.....

Are we not better then that be? Dam

Well, I agree with Naborhood, FCS playoffs are boring as hell. I was thinking, maybe because my team isn't in it. But, Naborhood said it best, that's one playoff system that I really could care less about once our representative gets beat.
Which brings me to another point; I liken the playoffs for our teams to a person going to take the SAT that they have not studied for. What I see is the gap widening between an average playoff FCS team and our HBCUs. We can say its our own fault all we want. But, I just don't get a championship feeling when champion goes to the playoffs and don't even come within 3 scores of the opponent...just my opinion.
Lastly, if a $2 million dollar payout is at stake for an HBCU bowl game, we should at least consider it before we proclaim the sky is falling. If we paid $30-45 grand to host a playoff game, how much profit would we clear after expenses? I don't see much...so, from a cost- benefit perspective, is it really that bad?

Real Talk NHSS. I'm a football fan and I just enjoy the game so to me as long as it's good football being played I don't mind traveling to see two good teams play. Your points are true and pertain to a lot of the HBCU fan base. We are just not into the game that much.

It was reported on this very site that this game was in the works. In fact there's a quote in the thread, attributed to our AD, confirming what the consensus of the conference was for this game.
