I understand from a member of the BOT at Central that they are constantly having discussion as to why the CIAA is a better fit for them. I don't know why that shocked me. This person also promises me that A&T is the best run HBCU there is. And that other public HBCU's look to A&T as they make moves to right their ships.I talked to several other MEAC ADs/assistant ADs after Nelson Townsend's funeral on yesterday, and this is true...they do look to A&T as the working model. I also hear that SC State may have sold their home game with FAMU to the ATL 100 Black Men (again). Not a good move by the Bulldogs, IMHO. That could be a big money-maker for them in Orangeburg...especially in September as the first conference game.

And A&T shouldn't There will come a point and time that A&T may have that conversation . What issues are A&T having with enrollment, debt or accredidation that would warrant having that conversation? The issues or not Enrollment, Debt, or Accreditation at all. The Issue is playing Football at the FCS level and can we afford the price in $$$ to stay at this level. I for one do not beleave that the1. A&T's enrollment is going to drop if we move to D-2 , 2. Accreditation no change 3. Debt for football will continue to grow at the FCS level .

SCSU should consider DII. Sent from my SM-N910P using proboards And A&T shouldn't There will come a point and time that A&T may have that conversation . If and when that time comes then I'll accept it like everyone else. I don't favor moving to D-II just to try and win a championship that get's very little attention. Also I have no desire to see us try and spark rivalries with the likes of St. Aug, Shaw, VUL, Chowan, Lincoln and Livingstone. How many of these games would you attend?

Now that I can understand and agree with. The only reason I made that statement was from a financial point view. Now as far as attending games . I'll just say this. I live in Tx but if I lived in N.C. yes I would attend any if not all games that A&T plays. I understand the CIAA is wreak at this time but the CIAA is not the only D-2 conference in that region. Also do not think that moving down to the D-2 division is a National or conference championship in hand lol. Because we do recruit the same talent that other BCS,D-2 and FCS schools recruit .

One step at a time...let's see what this MEAC/SWAC Bowl does before we deciding to make any additional moves. We (A&T) should continue to evaluate and explore other options but we should let this "Soul Bowl" play out first. Note, I said A&T because we should consider what's best for us first. What's best for us may not be what's best for the MEAC or other member schools in the MEAC.
A&T has weather the declining enrollment and shrinking state funding storms faced by all HBCU's by doing what was best for A&T. I am confident that our administration will do the right thing to help us deal effectively with the current athletic challenges.
