Let'sbe proud of our guys...we left a lot of plays out on the field and CCentral played their best game of the year. As for the fumble, it hurt but, I dare not blame Cohen because we wouldn't have been where we were without him. You hate to lose, especially to Central but, these are high times for our program.

The program is in good hands with Broadway......we use the word "great" too loosely. With all due respect, the strongest our program has been was when we were under Bill Hayes in the 90's. Broadway is getting us there, but our teams are not on that level yet....and believe me, I'm not saying that because I'm a Bill Hayes fan. The record books just don't lie. Broadway has made our program solid.....but being solid and being great are 2 different things. For us to be great, we have to tighten up on the sidelines in CRUCIAL IN-GAME SITUATIONS. This isn't about outrecruiting or having the fastest guys around. This is about what play are you calling in the 4th qtr when you need to get that 3-5 yards to keep the drive going..... Don't be fooled by all the statistics we amassed over the year. When you need to get 3-5 yards against a quality opponent that tries to stop you....ARE YOU GETTING IT??? One last thing - you all know one of the stats I key on the most is 3RD DOWN CONVERSIONS. In essence, what are we doing on the "money down".....today, we went 3 out of 14 (21%) - that's not good enough (not to mention we went 0 out of 3 on 4th down) against solid opposition. IN-GAME CRUCIAL SITUATIONS......how Broadway and his staff master this in the future will determine our fate. We have the speed, we have the talent.....but do we know how to properly utilize them when they need to be on display in the most critical of situations?

crucial situations today....on 3rd and 15 called a play that had keyes open and they hit him in stride and he dropped the ball...the drive before that they called a run play that got the team to the 1 yard line and they fumbled the ball... are those the crucial situations you are referring too?

We lost one game this year (Coastal) because of a mixed extra point and a 100 kick return. We lost one game this year (SCSU) because of a blocked punt for a TD and no Quick. We lost one game this year (NCCU) because we fumbled on the opponent's 1 yard line.
In none of the 3 losses this year can anyone say they we were over-matched or outclassed. We just didn't play good enough to win. It sucks, but this is college football. It happens.
This team will enter next season as the unanimous preseason pick the win the conference. Half of our offense will probably be preseason first-team All MEAC. Cohen will be preseason Player of the Year and one of the front runners for the FCS Walter Payton award.
All I can say to Broadway after 4 years on the job is ..... thank you.

You all keep talking about Cohen fumbling on the 1.......I was at the game.....didn't Central fumble the ball away on the one as well??? If you want to play the "if game" play it the whole way.......FOR BOTH TEAMS.
Coastal game - 4th down; 5 minutes left; ball on their side of their side of the field. We punt the ball away and never get it back
SCSU game - ball at 50 yard line - 3+ minutes left until halftime - 2 timeouts left to drive the ball.....we didn't even think about going for points -ball at their 40 yard line - 4th and 1 - we punt away the ball - touchback
NCCU game - we run a trick play on 3rd down (and after a timeout) instead of calling a solid run/pass play like the ones that had been successful for the entire drive......we then shank the FG. We ran reverses on first downs for no gain. We ran a wildcat on 1st down. Those ill-conceived plays made it 2nd and long, which eventually led to failed offensive drives.
By the way, let's stop acting as if Keyes dropped the passed from Quick. There were 2 Eagles who converged on him and separated him from the ball. He didn't let the ball slip out of his hands. The Eagle defense (yeah it hurts - but give credit to them) did their job on that play.
2015 - the motto for next year we should live by is "COMING UP BIG IN BIG SITUATIONS"

For all those criticizing Quick, I beg you to look at his stats from the game against the team that will get the AQ for the MEAC (Morgan State). 22-29, 249 yards and 4 touchdowns. Also the criticizing of the coaches is a little overboard too. They give the players the formula to win but it's still up to the players to go out and execute. All those situations that Thrilla mentioned are on the players. The coaches don't fumble, the coaches don't drop passes, and the coaches don't miss kicks

We have the speed, we have the talent.....but do we know how to properly utilize them when they need to be on display in the most critical of situations? Fair points.... it's about growth to be able to execute in the biggest moments AND on the road. Honestly.... if we played this game in Aggie Stadium.... we probably win.... and we'll get this game in Greensboro next year. But we'll still play SCSU in ATL.... and we may have to roll through Daytona in 2015. So the maturation to being a championship team continues at a much faster rate than it was supposed to happen....and we'll be tested again in 2015. But make no mistake.... this wasn't a Quick loss... or a Bustle loss.... or a Broadway loss..... this was a TEAM loss with a lot of contributors.... and, more appropriately.... it was an NCCU win. They did what a good team should do.... win at home. The incentive to be better is there with this stinging loss... a lesson in manhood on how to deal with failure. The 2015 championship quest will begin with the preparation starting in January.

nabhood....exactly but aren't you complaining about NCAT crucial situations or centrals just curious? its college football...but those were two very CRUCIAL plays in the game...its doesn't matter the reason he dropped the ball he dropped it..its the defenses job to knock it away...its the offense job to catch it, if ya have never played football before just a little wisdom....

You thought running a trick play on 3rd down in the red zone (after a timeout) was a wonderful play....after we gashed them down the field for that whole drive.......
You thought starting an offensive series in the 4th qtr with a wildcat formation (one we hadn't done all year) was a wonderful play?
We didn't value ball possession very well today.
I don't have a problem with anyone supporting Broadway and his staff.....but there were some crucial points in this game where they didn't set our team up for the best chances of success. You cannot blame going 3 out of 14 on 3rd downs all on a player dropping a pass, missing a throw or fumbling the ball. Some or a few - yes.....but all - no.
In tight games, it comes down to a handful of downs that determine who wins and who loses. In those crucial moments today, we just weren't good enough.

Today, we tied in that statistic... and lost because of it.... and we missed a fumble recovery right before the TD pass by Bell... that would right along our MO for the season.... but not to be today. Coaching decisions are all based on confidence in the team's abilities for the scenarios based on "the percentages". Maybe we get "Riverboat Rod" next season with a little more gambler to him. I doubt it. Ask Denzel Keyes in about a month from now about that play, and he would tell you that he got two hands on the ball, and that he should have made the play. Period. The DB's hand should have just came along with the ball. That's the mindset of a playmaker. Same thing with Xavier Griffin and his feet. Same with Tony McRae and shedding WR screen blocks.... or Kenny Melton on QB containment. Same with a whole bunch of others. Each player has to feel the fain and take personal accountability for what they can do better. Coming up big starts with the little details in January (April for Denzel). It's my prayer and hope that the leadership developed from this experience propels our guys to another level of preparation in the offseason. That's where championships are won. I like our chances on that.
