I have always wondered why black people are so secretive about stuff that only their loyal supporters care about in the first place. It won't hurt the powers-that-be to announce the hirings unless the powers-that-be knows it's hiring is screwed up.
I hear more 'BS' about why A&T's hires are not announced than Eddie Murphy trying to explain why he picked up that transvestite at 2 o'clock in the morning.

If the terms of the contract has been agreed in prinicple but for whatever reason it has not yet been signed, I don't think the department would be able to make an announcement.
However, this is a done deal. The coaches at the Signing Day Party and other athletic department officials all talked about McKenzie coming on board.
The word about his hiring got delivered via BDV.com three weeks ago so why is everyone now pissed off that there hasn't been a official press conference. There wasn't a press conference when we told you that Lavigne got fired either.
We told that you months ago that Battle had given Fobbs money to hire a OC and now we are telling you that Fobbs hired McKenzie.
What else do you need to know?

This is just like any other corporate business. If paperwork is not complete I wouldn't release it myself. What if something happened with the paperwork and we couldn't hire this guy. Then everyone will look at Fobbs like why did you announce it before its final.

There is no need for a Press Conference; however a Press Release is certainly in order. Are you suggesting that because it wasn't done in the past that's it okay to continue as bad process (“that’s way we always done it”) or that BDV.com is the official mouthpiece for the Athletic Department?
I guess I’ll just standby for the BDV.com interview with new OC. By the way when is that?

We think information is king and therefore those that the information is more powerful than ever. Unfortunately, this is happening in the world now more than ever!

We at BDV.com will have the exclusive as soon as he is settled in and begins spring practice. Until he evaluates the personnel,IE. quarterback; it would be premature to speculate at this point.

Are you suggesting that we have a non-employee on campus performing work as if they are an employee with access to systems and services as a regular member of the football staff. Do think he gets paid as a day laborer also? I never heard of corporation that would allow a individual do that. Usually you don't start work until it's a done deal. I guess A&T is special.

Then everyone will look at Fobbs like why did you announce it before its final. In sports, college and professional, new hires are announced all the time when the contracts haven't been finalized. Michigan University for one just did it. Most well run organizations state up front what the deal is as far as "we are still working on the final wording of the contract", because good organizations that know what they are doing keeps their constituents informed.....or should I say keep paying constituents informed. ;D It's when the "stuff hits the fan" that the administrations shut down and circle the wagons until they can get their story straight. My complaint is about what had happened in the past and not directed towards the new AD. Thanks, Blue Death Valley for bringing us the news.

In the school's defense, we just got a new AD who may or may not (and probably not) have everything organized to his satisfaction. If you were thrust in a position that was constantly underfunded and the main cash cow wasn’t even close to respectable, and staffing was at best limited than a mufu, how far up on your list would making sure the announcements get done in a timely fashion be? Give Wheels time to get everything in order, saaaay, a year, and we’ll see things regularly announced. I still have nightmares about the “big press conference” when they fired Hayes. How much egg was on faces when all they could do was say “Hayes is gone. Uhhh, we might go I-A! No questions.” and Renick ain’t even show up? I know there’s a huge difference between that foolishness and calling Daniels to say “we got an o.c. and we dropped Dwike” but I’m also sure there’s a lot behind the scenes that doesn’t allow for it at this time. Basically I expect the athletic department to still be a mess as a result of “doing things the ACC way” and I realize that messes take a minute to clean.
If the same crap is happening a year from now, we have a problem.

Brother Hamwalker ..Welcome to the Movement .. But Hamwalker is right : Wilson was only the special teams coordinator on paper, with each coach taking charge of a different facet of special teams. I dont think its totally fair for him to take the fall for ALL of the special teams woes. Also in fairness to Wilson, hasnt he coached like 5 different positions since he's been here ? Tight Ends, DB's when Lavigne got fired, QB's, WR's , LB's ? Am i missing something ? In essence, Fobbs is indirectly telling him that he is our most versatile coach, and can coach anywhere. -I dont think that most people are upset over the firiing. I think most people are puzzled about the timing. If Fobbs will use his coaches, then what makes you think that he wont use his players THe hiring of a new OC would be a great time to come out and make a public announcment that some new fresh, innovative ideas have been brought in and that the staff is still committed to winning and showing its true and loyal fans that hope is alive. -Fobbs still needs to go .. ASAP .. Its in bad taste to fire your recruiting coordinator a day after all those kids sent their faxes in .. I wouldnt be happy at all if I was one of those parents who had built a relationship and trust with Wilson over the last several months --

LOL, yall are to funny!
Who is he going to release a press release to? BDV is the only news organization that gives a damn about an OC getting hired at A&T.
BDV knows, so thats all that matters because we are all that cares. If you put that in the N&R the same damn BDV members would be the only ones that actually know who he is.
Who is the OC at UNC? Duke? ECU?..............................Come on, quick, quick, without looking it up, quick, quick. I didn't think so!
When you see Thrilla in the room the word is already out to anybody who gives a damn.

Ummm..Mr. Monster, If i'm not mistaken, didnt the CHANCELLOR send out a mass email to all a&t students, alumni etc after the season saying to not lose faith, and that changes for the better was inevitable..How about something speaking to that email that came out a few months ago..
-If I'm wrong (although highly unlikely) please correct me ..

ECU is Shankweiler. He won a state championship at my high school. Have no idea who's doing the other two.
That being said, while I get your point, these schools still put out a press release. Even Central puts them out. Do we need to hire a white man like Kyle Serba? Do we just need to hire Kyle Serba himself. I mean, I know we probably ain't trying to do it the ACC way anymore, but this is pre-chitlins. The dookie-movers are still in the hog on this one.
That being said, see my excuse post above.

I don't know any of those names, but I bet a press release was done. . The goal here is not to preach to the choir, the goal is to extend our reach. This is a good news story and should be presented as such. Do you think Grambling became household name solely on football wins? If our perception is that this action is unnecessary, then our reality is we are not even smalltime. Go to the Aggie Info Page and look at the weekly press releases. Is this not at least as important? Press Releases fac.ncat.edu/pr-test/hotnews/
