I told everyone when Raynard signed with us, he had all the tools to be a special quarterback at the next level. I mean something really special. I've watched this young man through his entire high school career at Andrews here in High Point. He can be as good as he wants to be.

There was a 7 on 7 at WS- State last 7/19/2014 Sat. A&T took only two QB's, Quick and Lamar Raynard. Quick threw 2 td's and 1 interception, while Raynard threw 5 td's and no interception. They beat WS-State by two td's. Thats telling me Raynard is way ahead the other two QB's and is pushing Quick for the Starting job. So look out for Rayard, he also has gain 18 lbs with the weight tranning and condition during the summer ( 6'6" 212Lbs) As Aggie One said "The QB from Andrews is Leymar Raynard (6-6,192) and he has a cold blooded demeanor about him in tough clutch situations and a howitzer for an arm. He prefers to be red shirted". Do not overlook him. This kid is an excellent student and high character young man who can flat play and shows up every single game, week in and week out". He has changed his mind about being red shrited. The 2 recruits from Andrews are the two that I am most looking forward to see, however if we can red shirt Raynard, it may benefit us down the road. On the other hand it may be that his talent will make it too hard to put him on the shelf.

sounds like quick may be hearing footsteps according to these reports. foster has already made his impression during spring practice. now its time for the true freshmen to make theirs! hey, talk is cheap. but we'll be shooting "real bullets" in about one more week, so we'll get a chance to see what qb's impress the most. but heck, the good news is that there's at least 4 "viable" qb candidates to keep an eye on.
if our qb's pan out and our o-line pan out, we could possibly have our very best offensive unit since broadway arrived to a&t because i have no concerns at all with our running backs and wr's where we're absolutely "loaded"...

OldschoolAggie you forgot about the Dawson kid who I think is on a academic scholarship. I heard he's not bad.
That makes 5 guys in camp competing. I am sure somebody is going to get redshirted.

Well no one figured Tarik Cohen would be the #1 running back going into last year especially when there were two red shirt seniors ahead of him. But lo and behold, as a true freshman, he lead the conference in rushing and was All-MEAC and Rookie of the year and lit the place up.
There is a true quarterback battle about to begin starting next week. Quick, Foster, Dawson, Raynard, Klugh, and Barimo all going after the big brass ring. Broadway has always said that he will never hesitate to put the best player at his position on the field regardless of classification.
This year's preseason camp should be something else to watch.

Bamiro has been moved to Tight End, and Dawson has not been to practice.

IS Barimo the FEMI 6-6 QB from DC. If i forgot about him.
Do you think with this many guys competing he would be able to keep them all together without someone leaving if they do not think they have a chance on playing.

Considering Dawson's major (Industrial and Systems Engineering), I wouldn't have expected to see him anyway until camp opens up next week. Realistically speaking, I expect one of the incoming freshmen to red shirt out right and one to dress and be available even he doesn't get to play right away this year.

by all indications, looks like barimo didn’t pan out as a qb. actually, that doesn’t surprise me. when i first saw his high school video, it was pretty apparent to me that he wasn’t much of a “pocket passer” in terms of patience in the pocket and going thru progressions. i always felt he had a very good arm and was pretty “athletic”. but just didn’t seem to have the “pocket savy” of a truly pass oriented qb.
and me personally, i never was very high on dawson as a qb prospect, but that’s just me. but the rest of those guys? foster, klugh, and raynard appear to me to be the real deal. to me, all 3 of those guys are way further along than both barimo or dawson were as freshmen. but time will tell. bullets start to fly next week. and in 2 weeks, we put the pads on!
when they put the pads on and go live, that’s when we’ll know who the qb contenders are versus the qb pretenders. i like what i’m hearing about foster working out every day on his own this summer. its the kind of “behind the scenes” stuff that makes good players great. i was a little disappointed with his height when i was at the spring game, but we all know great qb’s can overcome the lack of height such drew brees and russell wilson.
at this point, i’m pretty “clueless” of which qb will win the starting job. i think quick has a slight edge right now because he’s the most experienced qb we have in camp. but his passing skills are suspect. if foster can overcome his lack of height and adjust to fcs level competition, i’m still thinking he’ll have a shot at the starting job. and i agree with a1, one of the two true freshmen qb’s will probably be redshirted outright and the other will probably remain active just in case they’re needed during the season. but if both quick and foster can handle the qb duties for the entire season, i can see a scenario where both freshman qb’s could be redshirted this year which would really bode well for our future...
