I don't know the actual number of players that are here this summer but from what I have seen, this has to be the most players that have been on campus for the entire summer. They all look to be in great shape. From what I have been told, there are a lot of the Fr. here this summer. I know that every year we look at fall camp with great expectations, and sometimes we are very disappointed with the way things turn out, but this year I get the feeling this is the real deal. We will see!!!

Isn't it nice to have some viable choices at the QB position? Oh it was nice having some consistency at the QB slot over the past years even if you weren't sure what "crisis" would pop up. But knowing we have several QB's that have potential is comforting. Now let's just hope they play as well under "live fire" as they do in spring practice.

I'm hearing from the inside that freshman Amos Williams (5-9,180), the All-State Athlete from Walton, Fla., will most likely get his first look at college ball working at the RB position when practice starts next week although he was recruited as a future cornerback.
The running back position should be much deeper (and a lot faster) than it was this time last year.

Harris is a lber from Western Alamance who was suppose to walk on. Like the player from Southern Guilford who is going to LR he got some money . Both were NCA&T commits. The player from Southern Guilford had his All Star program picture taken with a NCA&T cap on

But OldSchoolAGGIE I thought I heard that dawson held his own in spring practice.I could be wrong.
Nevertheless I agree with you I think the four committee QBs Foster, quick, klugh and raynard will raise the competition.
Let me say this about quick. I really think Broadway may start quick but lets be clear the min. he start showing flashes of not really passing the ball effectively to his receivers. Foster will get his chance trust me on that. You have to give these guys a chance to play in a real time situation to separate who should would be the better QB and you never know if Foster does not perform those two freshmen may get a chance. I just dont think that any of these guys will outright win the starting job until you see them in a real game. Just my opinion.

That kid can flat out haul butt. Broadway will be loaded with Cohen, Williams, Cartwright, Robinson, Lemay, and red shirt freshman Cam Hill from Hendersonville all in the same group.
It could potentially be the best backfield contingent since 1991 when Hayes had James White, Barry Turner, Fred Ingram, the Artis brothers, and Russell Jones.
That's real depth without a drop off.

I noticed we picked up a late recruit, Dijon Kenan, who played in the East-West game last night. He will probably be red shirted this year. He had a pretty decent game last night with 4.5 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery at defensive tackle. Appears to be a well rounded kid in this interview clip: www.witn.com/sports/headlines/Player-Of-The-Week-Dijon-Kenan-234489271.htmlHighlight Video: www.hudl.com/athlete/2863769/dijon-kenanDijon KenanDijon…Wallace-Rose Hill High…6-0,259…fullback…coached by Joey Price…as senior, named NCPreps 1A All-State, All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, WIIN Pepsi Player of the Week, WRH Bulldog MVP…as junior, named All-Conference, WRH Bulldog Head Hunter…as sophomore, named team Best Defensive Lineman…also competed in basketball, baseball, indoor track, and outdoor track…plans to attend North Carolina A&T State University where he will major in criminal justice…wants to pursue a career in law enforcement…his father, James Kenan, is his role model…favorite pro athlete is Ray Lewis…says "I'm excited to have this opportunity. I expect to gain the experience of playing with the best of the best on the high school level." Also Hoke County OLB signee Jamal Darden (5-11,190) had a good game as well with 3.5 tackles and a couple of pass breakups. He is slated to play strong safety for us in the future.

But OldSchoolAGGIE I thought I heard that dawson held his own in spring practice.I could be wrong. trues, to be honest, i don't recall seeing dawson play during the spring game. i got there a little late and may have missed him if he played. but my judgements are based on his high school videos. hey, the kid could turn out to be a superstar for all i know. but what i saw of him on tape just didn't impress me a lot and again, that's just me. but that doesn't mean he couldn't turn out to be a stud...

Oleschool, with all due respect, you have to take into account the film on which you basing your evaluation on is now a two year old recruiting tape (2012) and that in and of itself is not an accurate measuring stick to access him now in 2014.
Dawson taking a red shirt last year made a huge difference in growing his body type, his arm strength, and speed. He did get in a couple of sets during the spring game and he had a few good throws and ran the ball with "intelligence" when he needed to. Granted a couple of runs in spring ball doesn't equate to becoming a starter but the point is that he's now as physically as good of an athlete as any one of the five currently trying to garner playing time at that position. He wasn't when in came in last summer straight out of high school.
He'll be a factor when camp opens. How much of a factor will depend on his performance in comparison with the two freshmen.

man, i had a “scary” thought last night that hit me. can you imagine the kind of overall “speed” we’d have in the backfield and on the edges if quick would just get his passing game together? i mean, we’ve got rb’s who run 4.3 forties and wr’s who have world class speed. and the one thing about quick that everybody knows is that quick has “exceptional” speed too! way faster than kindle was.
i mean, i thought about it last night, that most defenses would be forced to pick their poison against us if quick can get his passing on par. we’re talking 4.5 speed or better at almost every position in the backfield, on the edges, and under center! who are you gonna stop? defenses better be able to match our speed across the board if quick becomes a solid passer or else we’re gonna be lighting up the scoreboard...

So true, there is no substitute for speed.
