Greensboro, NC - Shrine Bowl quarterback Hassan Klugh will be the top name player in next month's annual NCCA East-West All-Star High School Football Game at Grimsley's Jamison Stadium. The 6-3, 195 pound Central Cabarrus product is headed to N.C. A&T on a full football scholarship. A&T will also be represented by DE/FB Brady Stover (6-1,235) of Southern Guilford, linebackers James Darden ( 5-11,210, Hoke Co.) and T. J. Harris ( 6-2,220, Western Alamance).

I understand that Brady Stover is going to Lenoir Rhyne because they gave him a full ride.

N C. A&T freshman QB Hassan Klugh will not play in this week's East-West HS All-Star game. Klugh had been picked for the West team back in early May.
Klugh (6-3,195) was one of the top rated prep QBs in North Carolina last season. After a stellar career at Central Cabarrus, Klugh was picked as the starter for the N.C. squad in the prestigious N.C.-S.C. Shrine Bowl All-Star game.
He is currently attending summer school and going through team workouts with the rest of Coach Rod Broadway's squad as they begin preparations for the MEAC-SWAC Challenge in Orlando, FL. where the Aggies will take on Alabama A&M to open the season August 31st.

What does this mean...is Klugh competing for the starting job? It definitely makes a statement about his commitment to A&T and Coach Broadway.

He has as good of a shot as any of the others but it would be earth shattering if a true freshman would win the starting job.
Top recruits skipping this particular all-star game is nothing new. He's one of six players that have started workouts with their new teams that opted out of playing so they could concentrate on getting ready for the season.

I know this is selfish but I was really Hoping he would play just to see his raw talent. I was not aware that players turn down invites it's a one and life time invitation.

Why play in these meaningless all star game when you have already got a scholarship with the team you want to play for? If he was undecided or looking for a "better" scholarship offer then by all means go play. I like the fact that he's made a commitment to us. Plus what happens if he gets hurt in this game? He's screwed!

Not sure it says very much to be picked for the East/West game. A coach in today's paper said the kids are usually second tier guys. The Shrine Bowl is a different thing entirely. Klugh has already played in that game or the only game in NC which means anything .... As I see it

Denzel Keyes hurt his toe in this game last year. I'm glad Klugh is not playing in it.

klugh made the shrine bowl which is a far superior game compared to the east/west. he has nothing to prove and pretty much nothing to gain by playing in the east/west game. may as well concentrate on adjusting to college life and getting ready for aggie football...

There was a 7 on 7 at A&T against WS- State ( 7/19/2014 ) Sat. A&T played only two QB's, Quick and Lamar Raynard. Quick threw 2 td's and 1 interception, while Raynard threw 5 td's
and no interception. They beat WS-State by two td's. Thats telling me Raynard is way ahead the other two QB's and is pushing Quick for the Starting job. So
look out for Raynard, he also has gain 18 lbs with the weight tranning and condition during the summer ( 6'6" 212Lbs)
As Aggie One said "The QB from Andrews is Leymar Raynard (6-6,192) and he has a cold blooded demeanor about him in tough clutch situations and a howitzer for an arm. He prefers to be red shirted".
Do not overlook him. This kid is an excellent student and high character young man who can flat play and shows up every single game, week in and week out".
He has changed his mind about being red shrited.
