Semi off-topic, but after reading an article on the cost of attendance stipends the majors are now offering, if we can do that it puts us at a huge advantage recruiting-wise. If a recruit knows he doesn't have to come out of pocket AND has the possibility of playing in and winning a bowl game, he ain't gone care what color the grass is. MEAC Co-CEO's voted against FCOA this past Summer.

Did they vote against making it mandatory or did they vote against allowing it for any conference member at all?
As far as the grass goes, we're an agricultural school. I've said it for years; if we are worth our salt as an ag school, we should be at the forefront of pioneering new styles of natural turf that withstand all sorts of crap. Not engaging the ag dept. to work on it is a waste of resources and a waste of potential.

You would think we could grow some lousy grass on the field that would stay green. And worst case, we should ask the folks at the other state agriculture school, NC State for help. I've seen several local TV shows highlighting their research on athletic turf. Hey, it couldn't hurt.

it don’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to keep our grass green. its just a matter of “proper treatment”, that’s all. even elon is able to keep their natural turf green and last i checked, they don’t even have an agricultural school.
either we “treat it” or “paint it”, that’s all. i don’t think the question is “how”, i think the question is “priority”. who cares enough to improve the appearance of our turf, especially when we’re on national tv. its been bothering me for years...

I see that we are revisiting this again ..lol OSA hit it on the head "priority" for upkeep of a football field at an agricultural school . Has anyone never ask who takes care of the maintenance of the field ? I'm not taking about the department but " Who is the head groundsman in charge of maintenance of the football field ? Does anyone know who this person is ? Do we have a Head Groundsman for the athletic fielsd ? If we do maybe its time for someone to bring these concerns forward about the condition of the playing field and have a sit down with him !!

Hilton said that the field was in poor condition befit that game because he allowed them to practice on it as the practice field was very muddy at the time...that address why it looked so torn up but does not address it being brown
As many of us have been saying we are and ag school it's not that hard nor expensive. I started T as a horticulture major it's not that hard that grass should be green until there is a hard freeze temps below 25 for over 12 hours and that did not happen in nov

Another reason the field is torn up at the end of the season is when daylight saving time comes ,they practice in the stadium every day because it gets dark so early .

So once again our lack of adequate facilities pops up again. Poor drainage on the practice field plus inadequate lighting has caused us to damage our game day field. If you look into every athletic issue at A&T it will eventually come back to funding issues.
As the debate rages on about the FCS playoffs vs the Celebration Bowl, just keep in mind that we barely can fund the basic athletic necessities. You can't build a winning FCS championship team when you can't even afford a decent practice facility.

Alumns (BDF, AAF & Many Others) - We're the last piece* of the puzzle that's not fully engaged. Either we put our money where our mouth is or stop all this "what we want/need" talk.

I understand the giving side but we just got $500k plus and some of these issues can be fixed.
