I have to somewhat agree with PJ and Dooms as well. Drunk Driving is a serious subject and it's real easy to understand the severity of it when you are in your 30s and 40s. 20-25, I wasn't that bright.
The only difference between me and Kindle in college is that I didn't get pulled over. Driving without your lights on could means that he left from a gas station or fast food place that had plenty of lights and forgot to cut them on when he pulled off. I've done that completely sober at night.
I'm not trying to rationalize him staying on the team (I don't think he is the best option at QB regardless), but there are alot of us who have gotten behind that wheel when we had no reason to be.

I must be the exception, never have, never will. I didn't have a car until I graduated from "T" and even then I didnl;t do it. My wife and I have a strict rule. One can party the other stays sober and in my line of work a DWI has never been acceptable and is immediate termination. I'm no boy scout by any strecth but I guess I'm a death on subject of drinking and driving.
I see too many individual broken dreams and entire families destroyed by its results each day.

I attended my best friend's funeral and his entire family killed by a drunk driver....Sad, but true!

From the time Kindle was recruited and I first saw a video of his ability to throw the ball I thought he was going to be the next great Aggie quarterback. Now it seems his on-the-field judgement (getting hurt tackling a defender during practice which lead to him missing an entire season) and his off-the-field judgements (last season's suspension as well as this most recent one) may have ended his Aggie career.
Driving on campus while intoxicated with your lights out is, IMO, very serious. Two of my kids went to A&T and if a drunk person had hit one of them with a car while they were walking on campus it would be serious. Further, if the driving had been at night with no lights on that's very serious. Given that Kindle has a lot of athletic abilities but his judgement hurts him and over his lifetime, good judgement will prove to be more beneficial than his athletic abilities which may have a limited duration. Like all Aggies, I want to win but I think the life-lesson will be more important to Kindle than winning a couple football games. I wish him maturity and well.

This is a "blessing in disguise". Lewis Kindle has been a screw up ever since Coach Broadway arrived. Coach B had to call his father up here his first season to reinstate him on the team after he kicked him off. He showed how much leadership he had last year when he got kicked off the team right before the Coastal game. Then he showed how immature he is/was with his antics at the Coastal game on the sidelines. Now this ... DWI.
We need to move on without Kindle. He ain't all that. Check his stats out for last year ... 3 T D's and 11 Interception with most of them coming in the "Red" zone. He has no foot speed or moves so he can't run. He is not a leader and that is evident with the stuff he has done. He has had his chances and each time he has blown them because he thinks of himself more than he does of the team.
This was a "blessing in disguise" and we need to take advantage of it by giving another deserving QB a chance. Kindle is a senior and we won't miss him. Start someone new and give them the chance to lead us over the next 3 or 4 years.
I hope Kindle will learn from his mistakes and turn his life around. I think he needs counseling and help. A&T should seek help for him to get his life and grades together. I think trying to play football is the last thing he needs to be trying to do at this time.

P J TIMES HAVE CHANGED SINCE THE DAYS OF DEAN MCCOY, DEAN BOONE AND DEAN BONNER. YOU HAD TO BE JOKING WITH YOUR RATIONALE ABOUT THE KINDLE CASE. IF HE HAD HIT A STUDENT OR ANYONE ELSE AND MAIMED THEM OR KILLED THEM - THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE SITUATION FOR KINDLE AND A&T. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED AND ARRESTED BY EITHER THE CAMPUS COPS OR CITY P D. HE WAS A DANGER TO SOCIETY AS WELL AS HIMSELF.
BESIDES KINDLE AIN'T ALL DAT ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD TO BE EVEN EXCUSED FOR "JAY WALKING".

Well, I'll try to approach this topic without the benefit of the soapbox if I can, as I have screwed up many times at that same age. It was God's grace I'm not 6 feet under let alone anyone else...so, I understand that it wasn't my own doing that kept me from hurt, harm or danger during my drinking years. That being said, I believe the difference in this case is the fact that Kindle is on scholarship. Now, to some, that may not mean much...but, go out and price a college education for 4 years and see what the cost is. It seems to me that Kindle doesn't value that scholarship very much...with that scholarship comes responsibility and if he's not willing to live up to that responsibility just maybe he shouldn't have it. But, I can empathize with him because, like some have mentioned here, many of nights I drank, I got behind the wheel and drove. I happened to get caught as well...so, you take the risk you have to live with the consequences, whatever they may be.

1. Just about everyone has some screw-up (at various levels) in their college years/20s where someone has had mercy on us by the grace of the Good Lord above... I'm no different in that regard.
2. A DWI/DUI charge would be a bad situation for any student or athlete, but since we're dealing with the football team, it's worse because of Kindle being a senior QB/presumed leader and his past questionable decision-making. Coach Broadway really has no choice but to suspend him, or risk losing the respect/control of his rebuilt team.
3. I can see the DWI charge going away eventually for Kindle (most likely better that he was arrested by UPD than GPD), and he will probably have to meet additional stipulations to keep his scholarship so he can graduate. But after the way last year went, I would be highly surprised to see Lewis Kindle play another down for A&T. The school shouldn't turn its back on him because he has contributed a great deal. But standards do need to be enforced if we have any love for Kindle at all.

I feel bad for Kindle. Its another example of his poor decision making. Hopefully, he will learn from this mistake so that later on in life, he can benefit from it. I personally believe his playing days are over.

Dooms and PJ's argument would have more merit .... if the student-athlete wasn't Lewis Kindle we're talking about.
All eyes have been on him since Broadway first arrived in 2011 and temporarily kicked him off the team, so frankly Kindle should have known better. There has just got to be some kind of internal alarm that goes off in your head whenever you get close to putting yourself in a critical position. Especially considering the fact that he was already suspended prior to the season just a year ago.
He was actually operating on his second (well, really third) chance when he got pulled over. That is what I believe Dooms and PJ are forgetting to consider.

Side note , I rode through campus today after work and I saw kindle out with the guys , They were running 7 on 7's , I didn't actually see him doing anything ,but he was out there . I don't know what the terms of his suspension are , but I do remember him running the scout team in practice when he was suspended before the Coastal game .

FOOTBALL IS THE LEAST OF KINDLE'S PROBLEMS,THE DWI CHARGE IS GOING TO EFFECT FUTURE EMPLOYMENT This offense is going to cost his parents quite a bit of money. If not erased from his record, he will have difficulty with job applications. Campus policemen have the same arrest powers that law enforcement officers throughout the state have. He was not on campus. He was on the city streets (Lindsay and Sullivan). His court hearing or trial (court house down town) will be in late August. He is going to need luck and money. I believe the state "fools" legislators have strengthened the DWI laws.

I asked my non partisan wife (likes FAMU) about whole incident and her first response was qb or not.....that person should punished severely! Especially with the number of opportunities already given.....
