So now he has three more scholarships available; are decent players out there to be gotten?

Whoa. Whoa now, "won with this crew". That's disrespectful to the players. This team was always talented. I don't care who the coach is, you must have talent to win. Not only that, this "crew" was a very experienced/talented bunch along with solid coaching(Cy Alexander) that won the MEAC tournament. I think next years team will be talented but way to young to be as successful as this years team. Especially, when Cy released 3 talented Freshman that had gained a considerable amount of experience while going this season's successes. So that's offensive to not credit the players for this years success! I feel what marchingband was trying to say. The 2012-13 squad was offensively a perimeter-based squad that had talent but was very inconsistent, which was the case for the seniors for 3 3/4 years. The squad never won more than 2 games in a row during the regular season. Based on the body of work, the odds weren't good that they would win 4 in a row to win the MEAC. The one constant this year was that they bought into Cy's defense-first philosophy, which turned out to be the strength of this team. It's a big credit to the team that they got hot offensively at the right time to win the title. It's a big credit to the coaching staff for getting the team to go all-in defensively the whole season and for identifying the proper players to have in the rotation to make the run. That said, the 2013-14 team is constructed to be bigger, more physical and more attack-mode on offense, particularly in the areas of offensive rebounding and transition. Those were areas that Coach Alexander identified as weaknesses during pre-game "chalk talks" and that he hoped to address with recruiting for the upcoming season. Most critically, the 2012-13 squad had to unlearn 3 years of learning how to lose games. Anyone watching the games could see the team's struggle with that. If Coach Cy still had hair, he would have pulled it all out this year. It's hard to learn how to win consistently under that circumstance, and it's another credit to this year's team. The 2013-14 squad will not have that mental baggage to carry. The new guys will be able to start fresh with Coach Cy and his staff, and, combined with the experience of Underwood, Middleton and Beckford, I hope/pray this young, talented group will surprise Aggie Nation and everyone else with how well they will do. yep, i concur...

Blue Storm adds to strong recruiting class..Friday, April 19, 2013
The Southwestern Illinois College men’s basketball team is continuing its strong tradition of recruiting top players.
Keenan Minor of Cahokia High School and college transfers Corvon Butler and Jacob Tolbert have signed national letters of intent to play for the Blue Storm.
Minor, a 6’2” guard-forward, led Cahokia to the Class 3A state title game, averaging 21 points per game. He made 101 3-pointers last season.
“Keenan is a pure shooter, and that’s exactly what we’ve been looking for in this recruiting class,” SWIC Men’s Head Basketball Coach Jay Harrington said.
Butler played at North Carolina A&T last season. The 6’5” guard-forward from Champaign, Ill., will have one year of eligibility at SWIC.
“We think Corvon can do a lot here in his year of eligibility,” Harrington
