Ditto; I hope he is going to a larger D1 program. If he isn't then it is his loss.

It will be very interesting to see who Cy signs as a late addition PG after Reid failed to apply himself in the classroom this year.
I give Underwood a lot of props for being a gritty, never give-up playa outta North East Washington, DC. Hail, NE DC has produced some hell-of-a PG's back in the day. Does anyone remember Dave Bing (now Mayor of Detroit)? What about Sherman "The General" Douglass? Both of these brothers played for Spingarn High School on Benning Road in NE DC and attended Syracuse and had long distinguished careers in the NBA. Guess what? Underwood lived right around the corner from Spingarn High School!
Despite expecting more improvement from 'Wood this coming year Cy better develop Stewart or find him a rough diamond in da 'hood at that PG position if we are expecting to continue to get better.

Agreed! If nothing else, Louisville exposed our glaring weakness at point guard.

It will be very interesting to see who Cy signs as a late addition PG after Reid failed to apply himself in the classroom this year. Like I said previously, I feel Jeremy Underwood is the best option at PG with a lot of summer school, PG skill work and court awareness coaching this off-season. Coach Cy still needs to recruit a PG for the future, though. Jeremy has earned the right to start at the 1 with his clutch performance this past postseason, IMHO. Last year's team averaged 62 PPG, with 11 assists/g and 15 turnovers/g. Underwood averaged 6.2 PPG 1.8 APG and 2.6 TPG. If Underwood can average 10 PPG, 5 APG, and 2.5 TPG with a much better offensive rebounding/fast break team around him, we can hit 70 PPG. The new wings and Akinkugbe will be much better than last year's team in both of these areas. Middleton and Beckford should also be better. We do not have to jack up 20 3s a game like last year to be a much more efficient scoring team. Combined with a defensive rotation that I expect to see go 9-10 deep this year (compared to 7-deep last year) to apply even more full court pressure, there is no reason in my mind not to expect this squad to finish in the top 3 in the MEAC, and in good position for the tournament. The 5 assists/g is critical because that would mean Underwood will be dedicated to setting up the offense properly for his upgraded skill players and taking less bad shots. It would also indicate an improvement in the fast break, which is much needed. While he had his inconsistencies, Jeremy was the one who hit the game-winning 3 against Coppin St., the clinching shot against FAMU at home and came up big against Del. St. and Liberty. I believe that Jeremy has the mental will and the ability to make this change now that he has tasted success under Coach Cy. I can't wait to watch it unfold.

Guys lets not put the young man Reed down because he De-committed to us, By saying things that we don't really Know " Failed to apply himself in the class room" We don't know if that is the case because it could be a 100 reasons why. Lets just keep it real and deal with the facts and help Coach Cy find that PG that we need are hope that he finds are develops one.

And before we start doging our point gaurds hell Louisville exposed a lot of point guards. When they turned up t he pressure few teams could handle it. I think Cy and the boys will be just fine next year. Another year for Cy to teach his system and coach their skills. And I suspect he will bring in some more talent too. Heck, if Cy won with this crew his first year just think what he'll do his second year.

Whoa. Whoa now, "won with this crew". That's disrespectful to the players. This team was always talented. I don't care who the coach is, you must have talent to win. Not only that, this "crew" was a very experienced/talented bunch along with solid coaching(Cy Alexander) that won the MEAC tournament. I think next years team will be talented but way to young to be as successful as this years team. Especially, when Cy released 3 talented Freshman that had gained a considerable amount of experience while going this season's successes. So that's offensive to not credit the players for this years success!

YOU don't know "if this is the case". Some times some may be privy to info that may not be accessible to others at that particular moment. So........in otherwords, that is fact about Reid. Cy is actively in the hunt rite now to sign another frosh PG for next year.

Especially, when Cy released 3 talented Freshman that had gained a considerable amount of experience while going this season's successes. So that's offensive to not credit the players for this years success! I feel what marchingband was trying to say. The 2012-13 squad was offensively a perimeter-based squad that had talent but was very inconsistent, which was the case for the seniors for 3 3/4 years. The squad never won more than 2 games in a row during the regular season. Based on the body of work, the odds weren't good that they would win 4 in a row to win the MEAC. The one constant this year was that they bought into Cy's defense-first philosophy, which turned out to be the strength of this team. It's a big credit to the team that they got hot offensively at the right time to win the title. It's a big credit to the coaching staff for getting the team to go all-in defensively the whole season and for identifying the proper players to have in the rotation to make the run. That said, the 2013-14 team is constructed to be bigger, more physical and more attack-mode on offense, particularly in the areas of offensive rebounding and transition. Those were areas that Coach Alexander identified as weaknesses during pre-game "chalk talks" and that he hoped to address with recruiting for the upcoming season. Most critically, the 2012-13 squad had to unlearn 3 years of learning how to lose games. Anyone watching the games could see the team's struggle with that. If Coach Cy still had hair, he would have pulled it all out this year. It's hard to learn how to win consistently under that circumstance, and it's another credit to this year's team. The 2013-14 squad will not have that mental baggage to carry. The new guys will be able to start fresh with Coach Cy and his staff, and, combined with the experience of Underwood, Middleton and Beckford, I hope/pray this young, talented group will surprise Aggie Nation and everyone else with how well they will do.
