I can tell yout his. It won't be a CIAA team on the schedule. Campbell, G-Webb or Elon will work. Gardner Webb would be ideal, since they're old Offensive Coordinator is now in "AGGIE LAND" AGGIE PRIDE!

G-Webb has 22nd open. Campbell is wide open. Still dont understand why we wouldn't play a CIAA school? We are running out of options as time goes by. I just dont want to see another VUL.

We have had the tendency to LOOK DOWN on CIAA schools ever since we moved up, especially in recent years.
I was midly shocked to see Broadway schedule St. Pauls last year but he was trying to get a scrimmage (eh game) as an opener.
Garner Webb and Campbell would not net a big crowd but maybe in the near future we will be able to take it up a notch.
GO AGGIES

Its not about looking down on anyone but there's just one major factor to consider.
Its about strength of schedule. That's the long and short of it. Like it or not.
If we should luck up and happen to have a 9-2 or 10-1 season, that D-2 team on the schedule will hurt you with the selection commitee because they view it as a game you're supposed to win even if WSSU or any other D-2 team is a top five D-2 team next year.
They rather see you beat up struggling or fledging FCS programs or lose big to a BCS member than to see you struggle or even lose to a D-2 no matter how good they may be.
That's just a plain fact of how the NCAA FCS works when they get to looking to hand out those at-large berths once the conference champions are decided.

We shouldn't be playing VUL if thats the case. If thats the case we probably shouldn't be playing the Pioneer League either.

Understood........Maybe we can start scheduling more competitive games when we become more competitive. Hopefully we grow our program where we become conference champions and receive a berth in the playoffs AND WIN in the playoffs. Are we ready yet?................. I am and I know others on here are! We shall see!

I hope we NEVER have to go back to playing VU-Fish Smich. That was one home game I did not go to last year if they are on the schedule this year I will not go!

VUL had some damn good athletes and size on that team. They played like a first year team, but give them a few years to grow as a team, and if they continue to recruit the same type of athletes that they had on their team last year they are going to be a good team.

My sources tell me we are looking for a home "warmup" game that last Saturday in August before we head to Coastal on Labor Day so we'll see.

Just ask SC State, FAMU and Bethune-Cookman.

AggieOne...that's understood. But, we aren't in that arena yet...due to APR difficulties. We cannot schedule a D I-A beatdown for $500k. We can schedule some I-AA opponents out there for sake of the strength of schedule argument. But, if there isn't a great expectation to make the playoffs this season why worry about it. Why wouldn't we schedule the money game whether it be D II or not, then pin your hopes on making the playoffs on winning the conference? To be honest, this strength of schedule argument is political at the NCAA level anyway. Just ask Boise State...
