BCU is the one team I never look forward to us facing. I saw their games vs. PVAM, Hampton and Miami. Needlsess to say I was quite impressed with their size, speed and overall athleticism. More than any other game on the schedule the shortage in schollies might have the biggest impact in this game due to their fast break style of play. The offense will definitely have to contribute with some time consuming drives if we want to keep this one competitive. The things we have in our favor are they're a very undisciplined team wracking up over 10 penalties a game and Mayhew did run for over 200 yards on them in the last game. Their db's also seem to be susceptible to big plays.

Decks even if we keep it close because they have the numbers we will eventually wear down. Thats what happens when we play the top MEAC schools. I am more impress with there size and speed. One thing I notice in that Appalachian game I went to was the over all team speed. That may not sound like a big deal but when you see our guys blowing tackles or the team making big plays without our guys getting a hand on the player thats comes from being so quick.
But I hope you right lets try to take advantage of there weakness and Mayhew has got to establish a running game or Kindle will have a long day trying to make it happen on his own.

www.ncatregister.com/thescore/football/aggie-football-on-to-the-next/article_f6477508-ef04-11e0-aa9d-0019bb30f31a.htmlThe N.C. A&T Aggies (2-2) will host the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (2-2) in their third home game of the season this Saturday, Oct.8. The Wildcats will be limping into Aggie Stadium from a 45-14 loss to the Miami Hurricanes. A&T quarterback Lewis Kindle and the rest of the Aggie offense will face the No. 2 defense in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. With running back Mike Mayhew, recently selected as the MEAC offensive player of the week, the Aggies will try to continue to keep his running game up after coming off as well as attempt to get wide receiver, Wallace Miles, will try to get back in his groove after going the entire Morgan State game with no receptions. While the offense will try to work through the defense of the Wildcat The Aggie defense, led by defensive back Justin Ferrell and linebacker D’Vonte Grant, will in turn attempt to stop the No. 1 offense in the MEAC. What could be beneficial to the Aggies is the absence of Bethune-Cookman’s primary quarterback, Jamarr Robinson. Robinson, a University of Maryland transfer, has been out after sustaining a leg injury in a controversial 35-31 win against Hampton two weeks ago. He did not play in last Saturday’s game versus the Hurricanes. The Aggies have lost to the Wildcats in their last seven meetings, including last season’s 67-17 loss. Both teams currently have a 1-0 in the conference and are looking to give each other a first conference loss. If A&T defeats Bethune-Cookman, it will be the first time in seven years that the Aggies come out on top, and it would be A&T’s . Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.

we've got to shorten the game by keeping the clock running so that we can minimize the impact of bcu's depth. we have to "move the chains" (get first downs) offensively on a consistent basis, stay inbounds offensively whenever possible, minimize incomplete passes so the clock will keep running, don't turn the ball over, and minimize penalties. that's quite a tall order, but that's what its gonna take to keep the game close against bcu.
what bcu did against miami is down right scary! sure, miami wasn't up for the game and was simply going thru the motions. but still, for an meac team to punch a high profile bcs team in the mouth (on their turf) and pretty much "dominated" them for almost a full half is very impressive to me. i got the impression that all of those bcu major d1 transfers along with coach jenkins, convinced the rest of the team that they can compete with miami. and literally for a half, they did more than compete, they punched miami in the mouth!
i don't want to over react, but either the meac is producing better teams this year or this just happens to be a "fluke" season. i mean, nsu took it to west virginia for a half, scsu gave indiana all they could handle, and now bcu dominates miami for a half. these are all "bcs" teams who have way more resources than any meac team. yet, our meac teams hung with these teams for at least a half and in some cases took leads over these teams. quite impressive for a league that's perceived to be amongst the least competitive at the fcs level...

Saw them in person twice.
1) Against PVU they looked like a team no one in the MEAC would come close to stopping. 2) SCSU game at times they had flashes of the team that played PVU but penalties & SCSU Defense ended up doing them in.
They are VERY undisciplined and IF we can capitalize on silly mistakes and shorten the game and keep their offense OFF the field this game could be competitive and we might be able to shock them......

Special team and field position will play a big part. I think we can hit some big plays with screen passes to Mayhew.

If we can run the ball I think we can hit them with an occasional play-action down the field. Raper could be a big part of this game as well.

I think we can hit some big plays with screen passes to Mayhew. bcu's coaching staff must have seen something on film against miami because they gained a ton of yardage off of play action screen passes against miami. but what reallly surprised me is that several times they ran the ball right up the "gut" of the miami defensive line and gained big chunks of yardage. i mean, if you check out the half time stats, its stunning how much bcu dominated miami. and they weren't just being cute with the football by running a bunch of "trickery". in the first half, they played some "smash mouth" football against miami and was successful doing it...

just my gut feeling, but i don't think bcu will bring a "maximum" effort against us like they did against miami. if they do, it'll probably be another one of those ugly blowouts.
i think because of their long recent success against us and our horrible history in recent years, they will probably bring their "b" game against us instead of their "a" game. now unfortunately, their "b" game is still plenty enough to beat us. but i just think they will "subconsciously" let their guards down a little bit against us.
obviously, having played app state and last year's big south champion coastal carolina, our guys shouldn't feel intimidated by bcu. matter of fact, i would think our guys will be upbeat about this game since coming off that big win against morgan state. both scsu and hampton proved bcu are actually humans and can be beaten by an meac team. and as unlikely as it may seem, i'm not totally prepared to write this game off as an automatic loss. if a combination of things fall into place, i think we can make this game interesting.
okay, here we go with the "if's". if bcu lets their guard down, if our guys ride the momentum from the morgan win and raise their game, if our coaches devise a very good game plan, and if we can keep bcu's offense off the field? then this could turn out to be a very interesting game. dare i say, a possible upset?

You know what oleschool I am convince that if Hampton didn't getting jipped and if Norfolk hadn;t beat SCSU, BC would probably be coming in with a C effort. Now with conference tightning up it will be due or die.
One good thing for A&T is that we have not gotten a great game from Mayhew, Kindle, and Defense at the same time so this might be the game.
One thing about it is going to be a beautiful day outsdie on Saturday

jenkins is truly a tremendous "motivator", no question about that. watching some footage of him (on his coach's tv show) in the locker room just before game time, dude definitely knows how to get his team fired up! but even the best motivators can't do that every game. coach lee was also a great motivator too. but after a while, those speeches have a tendency to wear thin over time. so most coaches save their best motivational speeches for games they feel they really need it.
i agree, coach jenkins won't allow his guys to come out flat against any team. that's not what i'm saying when i say bcu might bring their "b" game. when you come out flat, you bring your "d" game, that's way below your potential. but what i'm talking about is something that happens "subconsciously". that's far different than coming out flat.
when guys "subconsciously" let their guards down, they don't realize they aren't playing as hard as they can. they still play hard, but not as if a championship was on the line. for example, last week miami came out flat against bcu. it wasn't "subconscious" at all, they knew they weren't playing their hardest and it was easy to tell because of their body language. miami brought their "d" game because they didn't respect bcu (or any hbcu for that matter). that is, at first they didn't. i'm not saying that's how bcu will come out against us, jenkins will make sure they don't take us lightly.
but there's always the "subconscious" mind. you take heed of what the coach is saying and you believe what the coach is saying. but deep down way in the back of your mind, your subconscious is telling you we crushed them by 60 points last year, we crushed them at their homecoming the year before that, and we crushed them "again" by 60 points the year before that.
so no matter what the coach tells you, that subconscious will still be there and the athlete won't even know it. its hard for an athlete to think that a team you've completely dominated for several years in a row will be a serious threat to beat you, its just human nature. so unless we give them some bulletin board material, they'll possibly go out on that field and "think" they're playing their hardest, but they really won't be. they'll play hard against us, unlike miami, but they won't play their absolute hardest...

this is my BELIEF and I hope the boys prove me wrong.........www.AandTasswhipping.com
if we dont establish a running game and eat that clock up we are in for another thrashing by BCC. If they can establish the run and score on the opening drive it will probably be the best home game of the year next to the NCCU game. 2 great bands, good game, nice 70some degree day. Wish I could make it.
