Saw Jenkins today and spoke to him for a just a minute . The guy is a prototype physically and can play defense as well. With David Brown, we have a couple of big, and really tall tight ends. They just need experience.
Swann's just fine. That final roster is still about 7-10 days away from being completed and some other new names will most probably be added. I will say that 2012 is when we will have one mother of a football season on our hands.
I would describe this staff and this team as being very cautious and measured in their statements, very realistic, but quietly confident they can produce above average results with great attitudes and that definitely comes from the top down and a reflection of the head coach who's has a kind of Tony Soprano type air about him.
It's a total 180 in that respect from last year's rah-rah pep rally every press conference. Time will tell how things will develop down the road but we have five full years to figure it all out.
At least we are finally headed in the right direction now from a leadership standpoint.

(You'll probably thinking about D'Vonte Graham who was on the team last year. Both he and D'Vonte Grant are on this year's team roster.)......... Please check the 2010 roster, he is listed complete with picture .. he would love to be 5-11 215

There's a ton of new guys on this team or coming in daily and their attitude played a huge part with Broadway and his staff in bringing them here. That's why the roster is suspect at best at this point and subject to chnge because a lot of people are not listed on the univeesity sight that will be in uniform in two weeks.
Frankly, we were in total disarray when Lee was canned and as more things come into the light, I can now fully understand why Chancellor Martin did what he did and why he did it. He was absolutely right in doing so.
Broadway is a true "throw back" to the type of successful black role models like my dad that I grew up with. He's not going to be your buddy but your teacher and you will respect that fact and this university if are going to play here from now on.
His staff is a no nonsense old school group of disciplined coaches. They look out for their players but they are not going to put up with any shenanigans on or off the field.

From what I am hearing, D'Vonte Graham will be red-shirted this season due some disciplinary problems.

He must've done something pretty bad for him to have to receive a redshirt. These guys have to do better, they just have to. I'll bet my paycheck, its over some ole non-sense. Come on guys, we got to do better. GEEZ!

Set the expectation early and others will fall into line! Hope D'Vonte realizes mistakes and bad judegement has consequences in life also....

AggieGroove, this has nothing to do with this thread, but I spoke with "Bird" Sparrow by phone last week and he is doing very well. He is itching to get back to visit Aggieland. Okay, back to the topic of this thread.

From a very reliable source.......D'Vonte Graham would have played THIS year IF he was not still suspended from school because of an altercation on campus last May. Mr. Graham had the full ok from Broadway but the Board of Trustees have not signed off on it, thus he will be redshirted.

Why are they involved with a particular student involving disciplinary action? I thought they signed off policies, budgets, procedures and other structural and high level items?

Thats crazy - I would think individual student decisions would be left up to Dr. Martin. Typicaly Board of Trustees as jazz indicated vote on policy, procedures, and budgets.
This does not sound right BOT voting to determine whether a football player is elgibile to play ? seriously
It seems those decisions should be in the hands of the AD. Now if its a decision as to whether a kid can stay in school I could se Martin being involved but not the Board.

It has nothing to do with football.!!!! First and foremost, whether my source is correct or not, the issue is him being re-admitted as a student to Ayantee. If he is suspended from school, he certainly cannot play football. Playing football is secondary when looking into the TOTALITY of HIS situation. I agree it sounds unusual but my source stands with this version. The appeal process is now in effect from what I have been told and it is in the hands of the Board. We don't even know at this point if he will be allowed to be re-admitted.

All students have to go through the same process once they are suspended for conduct unbecoming. Things changed dramatically if you remember when Mr. Peek-a-Boo from Michigan showed up in Small's last year and was convicted as a registered sex offender out of state for dropping his pants in front of a bunch of coeds at the U of M.
It used to be the university tribunal making those decisions back in the old days. Thus the famous Hackney rule was put into place.
