Another Eagle flies the coop: Williams going to NC A&TBy Will Harris The Daily Advance Monday, July 18, 2011 0 Comments | Leave a Comment Print E-Mail RedditMore A record season for Northeastern football has turned into a record group of players heading off to play college football. The most recent addition to that group is receiver Jermaine Williams, who received as partial scholarship to play at North Carolina A&T next season. Williams was not always at the top of the list when it came to offensive options with quarterback Terry Williams and record-setting running back Mason James leading the way for Northeastern. But Jermaine Williams was a clutch receiver and at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, offered a physical presence on the outside. I like the fact that it looks like other teams are getting better so the MEAC should be getting stronger and that is really what we should all want.........real quality and intense games. I have faith that Broadway will take us to the next level but, being around sports my whole life, it will take time. Definitely, I feel much better about the leadership at the top. Let's hope it all translates into a win-win situation for errrrrrrrrrrrbody!!!! GO AGGIES!!!!

He's a big kid. He looks more like a TE than a WR. He did not show me much last night because they did not throw to him that much. He dropped a pass that hit him right in his hands. I watched him on running plays and he did show flashes that he can be a good blocker. This was just an all star game and you all know how they are somtimes.

I have a ? Did we go after that Page graduate Thuc Phan ? I know that he is small but so was Wes Welker, 165lbs when he came in at Texas Tech . I remember saying to a friend that welker was going to get killed lol , but look at him now . If you look at that kid he is a lot faster then Welker (40-4.6)was at this stage and he has good hands also. , Danny Woodhead (40-4.7) was a small guy also @ Chadron State about 170lbs his first year. This kid reminds me of both them. The boy is thick and has a strong base, 4.4 -40,quick feet,300 bench, 400 squat, and good in the class room. So can somebody tell me if we talked to this kid. I sew both Welker & Woodhead play in college and this Phan kid is a baller .

here is the article on the second kicker that Broadway has signed to go with Rivera. I don't think the kicking game will be problem anytime soon. Cummings JOSE GARCIA turns hard work into a D1 Scholarship in football July 21, 2011
By Cavalier Dave Forrester of Hugh M Cummings High School Cummings' Garcia turns hard work into college kicking gig By Stephen Schramm Times-News sschramm@thetimesnews.com Mike Nall, the assistant coach who handles the kickers at Cummings High School, has one key piece of advice he tries to instill into all of his pupils. In order to ensure proper form and consistent contact, he tells his kickers to keep their heads down through the whole kick. Focus on the foot, the ball and nothing else. Don't even watch the kick. Just grab the tee and run off. Of course, Nall admits that few high school players actually heed the advice. Watching their kicks sail toward the uprights is just too tough a habit to break. So consider his surprise when Jose Garcia, the Cavaliers kicker during the 2010 season, trotted off the field after a field goal and had an exchange with Nall. Nall asked him if the kick went left or right off his foot. Garcia said he didn't know. "He said, ‘Coach, I don't know where any of them go because I've never seen one,'," Nall said. AccordingtotheCummingscoaching staff, that's a fairly representative glimpse of how the hard-working former soccer standout handled his season-and-a-half as the Cavaliers' kicker. And it's part of the reason that his opportunity to continue his career at North Carolina A&T has left the Cavaliers thrilled. "I think it's a great thing," Cummings coach Steve Johnson said. "When Jose gave up on soccer to concentrate on football, his goal was to earn a scholarship." Garcia was a solid option for the Cavaliers, kicking 61 extra points and 27 field goals, including one from 48 yards out. For the rest of the story: www.ihigh.com/cummings/article_71707.htmlHigh School Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_TfFM5EU1sHe is a all-conference kicker and also a championship wrestler. 3.4 GPA.

He can run and is strong for his size and the kid can dunk! I remember hearing about him in middle school and he had a very nice HS career too.

i like that broadway is placing a "heavy" emphasis on the kicking game, i think its extremely smart! i mean, when you think about it, we loss a couple games two years ago (the morgan game immediately comes to mind) that we would have easily won if we had had a decent kicking game. it was the difference between having a winning season versus a losing season.
i also like that he's signing some "academically inclined" athletes to help our apr. broadway ain't no dummy. it appears that he has a plan and is not just free lancing it. i like that! and i still say the biggest steal of broadway's short term at a&t is the offensive coordinator, joe pizzo.
so keep doing yo thang, coach broadway! i'm gonna stay patient, get out of your way and let you work your magic...

Coach Broadway had recruited with only 25 to 35 scholarships before, at NCCU and won; and he recruited at Grambling and improved their APR and won. So he has experience dealing with A&T-type of situation to some degree.
The huge difference for Broadway will be his competition in this situation. The competition will be much stronger and stiffer than what he faced in the CIAA and the SWAC in my opinion.

I'm not ready to say that the MEAC is better than the SWAC top to bottom. But I agree that he should be familiar with this type of situation. We shall see though.
