I'm not ready to say that the MEAC is better than the SWAC top to bottom. But I agree that he should be familiar with this type of situation. We shall see though. The MEAC competition will be much stronger and stiffer than what he faced in the CIAA and the SWAC in my opinion. Most of the MEAC programs seem to have solid coaches with good coaching staffs. The top 4 or 5 seem to have almost a full compliment of scholarships and some financial support that will make them competitive in the MEAC. The MEAC teams are competing with Div I teams outside the MEAC which helps in my opinion, too.

aggiejazz: The competition in the MEAC and SWAC is about even at this point from what I see! You have your strong two or three teams that play FBS schools in both the MEAC & SWAC, and then you have the others and right now we are one of the others until we get back on track. That is just the way it is! Now can someone tell me IF WE TRIED TO GET THAT PHAN KID? ?

(IF WE TRIED TO GET THAT PHAN KID? ? ) I would hope not, Where would you play him? or do you mean as a walk on. He does not seem to be the type of player that will move A&T forward. Seemed too small and too slow

I will say AGAIN I have a ? Did we go after that Page graduate Thuc Phan ? I know that he is small but so was Wes Welker, 165lbs when he came in at Texas Tech . I remember saying to a friend that welker was going to get killed lol , but look at him now . If you look at that kid he is a lot faster then Welker (40-4.6)was at this stage and he has good hands also. , Danny Woodhead (40-4.7) was a small guy also @ Chadron State about 170lbs his first year. This kid reminds me of both them. The boy is thick and has a strong base, 4.4 -40,quick feet,300 bench, 400 squat, and good in the class room. So can somebody tell me if we talked to this kid. I sew both Welker & Woodhead play in college and this Phan kid is a baller . 4.4 - 40yds put him be hide a big line man come on!!! The kid can dunk a basketball . Hell yes I would play him> numberonebrave :I don't know how old your but look at the names Barry Sanders - 5' 8" Steve Smith (PANTHERS) - 5' 9" Joe Morris - 5' 7" Gary Clark - 5' 9" Bob Sanders - 5' 8" Warrick Dunn - 5' 9" Steve Tasker - 5' 9" Sam Mills - 5' 9" Darrell Green - 5' 8" Mack Herron. Mini-mack was 5'5". In 1974 he led the NFL in allpurpose yards. I also think James Brooks who played for the Bengals in the 80s was 5'8".159 his fr year 4.5-40yds en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noland_Smith) None in the NFL as Super Gnat played college football at Tennessee A&I University (now Tennessee State University) Need I say more We need player that not only ex cell on the field but in the class room also and this kid has it. We can not afford to be hypocritical don't you think ? Are can we?? His speed is not the 4.4 is not slow its his burst to the hole that counts the most for a runner that first 4 or 5 yards and anything after that is gravy .

I did not get the impression that he ran anywhere near a 4.4/40 when I saw him at Page. But at 5-6 160 he had better be that fast. I have nothing against small backs (Lonnie Harris and Waymon Pitts were super ; Harris ran 9.5 100 and Pitts probably ran under 4.4) just small backs that run 4.7. However, if he is anywhere close to the above mentioned athletes someone will snap him up because he is clearly a fine young man.

From what I read he's headed to prep school to increase his chances of going to an NC State or a Wake Forest. Interest is a two-way street.

Well, the few recruits we did get seem to be okay. So, I'm cool, just hope more are coming especially on the defensive line.

He said Campbell was the only school that made and offer to him . So he is headed to Deer-field Academy with hopes ???that he can get a D-1 offer. But that was before the East-Wast game. Brothers: :)The season is upon us. I feel that the up coming season is going to be a good one for us and with the insight and information that is exchanged on this site I feel that we will be on top of everything that happens in Aggie Football . I must say that I am proud to be apart of a will informed Unit as this. With my own school year about to begin I may not have the time to hang out :'(as much but I'll do my best to be here . I dropped 4 of my kids off today at Grambing and I'm on my was back to Shreveport la. So that the Old lady Jag and I can have a night out on the state of Texas before we head home. So you gents keep things rolling and may God be with us this season. . PS: ([b ]Any arrives That you may find at this time may be due to the fact that my wife is Driving )PRAY FOR ME [/b]

I am in Wilmington, NC visting with my wifes family and there was an article about a kid that signed a football scholly to play at A&T in the Wilmington Star. 2,000 Yard rusher last year as a first year rb. Marcus Hankins of South Brunswick High - all to familiar story - shot and killed at a party. The article was profiling the unsolved murder of the young man back in April.
Article said he had a troubled youth but had settled in over the past two years with solid academics and a top notch very good fooball player that moved from db to rb. Running for 2000 yds at a 3AAA HS

thefriscotxaggie,
Yes, Marcus was a heck of a football player and had just visited with A&T's coaches a few days before he was killed. His death was a terrible loss to his community and to A&T.
ANOTHER POINT: I encourage all Aggies to tell top local athletes about A&T and other HBCUs, these are good schools. Marcus is also a example of an excellent football player who, after learning about an HBCU, wanted to go to A&T. So I encourage fellow Aggies to tell the top athletes in your area about A&T. I remember when I told Ragsdale about him, Rags said that quality of athletic would go to an D-1A school, not A&T. But in continuing to talk with Marcus and A&T's new coaching team, Marcus decided that A&T was the school for him.

I have to Truly believe that we can recruit with anyone . But if we don't try how will we know ohsixrain : Its not from not trying. Broadway has already put the word out to the High School and JC, in the south west so you may see some kids from Tx, La, Ak soon ;D. The man is working . I know of about 6 linemen, 4 QB,6 Rb and 6 Db just in the Dallas area that know of A&T and stated that Tee is on their mind. So 2012 will just see. I'm at a JC so my kid know of the HBCU schools from day one But I do drop A&T a lot I call it (SUBLIMINAL RECRUITING)
