Where will the visiting Band Sit? Will they remain where they are currently located or will they have a configuration like the B&GMM's new location?
And where will the Gold Helmet section be moved to?

I would hope the visiting Band is placed directly across from the Band section...

i was in the band, and i'm all about maintaining certain traditions. however, i know change is good as well. my vote is let the machine try out a new vantage point from section r and the opposing band gets section g...directly across. if the benefits pan out as good as they seem to potentially be here, we'll figure out logistics (i.e. tunnel, entrances, compliance, etc). this could be a very simple win-win.

As long as they don't lose the "TUNNEL"!!!!! The new set up would allow them to do the tunnel, but it would block certain vendors for about 10 to 15 minutes. The current band section allows the band to use the walkway beside the field for the tunnel. On second thought, you may not have to worry about access straight from the Field to the stands. If security is on their job, the band can enter and exit from behind the stands. It may take a little while longer for them to get to the new section, but they could still perform the tunnel at the end of the stands and march to the section from the back.

Leave the band right where they have always been. Changing where the band sat is not going to pump up the team. What will pump up the team is putting more fans (cheering fans) in the stands.

The idea has been submitted to the athletic dept. for consideration from what my sources have said recently. Does not mean its a done deal but I am for it and errrrrrrbody I have talked to is for it. If it can be done it will be a REAL plus and it will help our stadium experience, not to mention the FOOTBALL team!!! Maybe somebody who knows the band honchos will enlkighten them and ask them to kindly make the switch. Excellent. The current configuration is for the original Aggie Stadium. Something different should be done with the U if it makes more sense. To have the band sit so far away from the MAJORITY of the fans is just crazy when you actually think about it. But its been that way since the beginning of time, so no one has said anything. This move will actually put more cheering fans in the seats if you think about it. If they do the tunnel going into the stands from the track the fans aint going no where. The student section would also end up being waaay larger than the current one. Doing the tunnel from the back of that section would be a straight up traffic jam! It has to be done in the front. They do it from the front at away games where they enter the field directly from the stands, so it shouldn't be any different.

I can assure you that all that dancing and twiling aint happening on Irwin-Belk Track. You also have to understand the dynamics of the tunnel, alot of drums playing, alot of movement. Distracting gameplay may be a problem since the tunnel lasts non-stop for most of the 3rd quarter.

I agree with the distraction factor. Not sure if the refs would allow it, even with only just the drums and symbols playing.
I think all the rest of the excuses are just that, excuses. We put a tarp down for the football team to run over the track because of spikes. The band dont have spikes. They aint hurting the track at all. Especially not for 5 home games per year. They walk on the thing anyway. Other bands walk on it. People walk on it, carts are driven on it, track athletes have metal spikes on.. A 10-15 minute "tunnel" aint damaging that track in no way. The Golden Delights aint that heavy, damn! The elements do more damage than a band does.
The ramp to me is a none-issue. What would that cost, $1000 or less? Would solve the compliance and entrance issue. What else, lets see, where would they do the tunnel? That's been answered. What other excuses we got other than people just saying "leave them where they at"?
I am traditionalist also and I understand the "tunnel" tradition, but it can be done in the back of R or on the curve of the track going into the stands from the front.
This reminds me of when Southern Durham's coaches(and a few parents) were mad that they were puttting a fence around the field which meant they couldn't come down the hill straight on to the field anymore for pregame. Then one parents said "Put a gate in the fence" and everyone still bitched for a little while until they finally realized it was common sense.

I am traditionalist also and I understand the "tunnel" tradition, but it can be done in the back of R or on the curve of the track going into the stands from the front. Doing the traditional Tunnel directly under section Q would be a logistical nightmare and would prevent 1000's of people from heading back to the stands in a timely manner for the 2nd half of the game as well as preventing vendors from making as much money as they could. For instance, Imagine the band doing their routine during the NCCU game or Homecoming or even university day. YIKES!!! For the sake of preventing future fights and the Aggie PD from ever whipping out their Pepper Spray, that tradition might have to be altered just a tad. Besides, the ref's will not have a problem with the band marching back to their seats. When has A&T ever been flagged for the band playing when it wasn't supposed to? I only remember that happening one time but it was during the Fobbs Error and during that time, even the ball boy got the team a penalty during a game.

I remember quite a few flags and warnings since my time at A&T, but they all came when the band was at full blast back in the stands during the visitors possession. I've heard them very loud when marching back to their seats an nothing was ever said.
When the Aggie/Eagle was at NC State they did the tunnel going back into the stands from the front.

Let's get behind this thing 1000% because it REALLY WILL help get us back in the flow. I know it will pump OUR team, crowd, and help me to get my groove on!!! At LEAST worth one extra win per season for BLUE DEATH-2011 Suggestions for contacts:--DOWDY SUITS, AD DEPT., BAND LEADERS, ALUMS, "BIG MONEY SONNY'S", YOUR CONGRESSMAN, REV. JESSE, AL, JAKES, THE BLACK PANTHERS, (ANYBODY but "RE-TODD" or LEE FOBBS). BORN and BRED

Now if Im understanding correctly we are looking to have the band switch the stand entrance format to something similar to this
If so I thinks its a great idea, do you you how many people wanna see the tunnel but dont feel like going through all those people to see it. Hopefully someone in the Athletics Dept is reading this board because you guys have the best ideas and moving the band is a great one. I hope all the logistics can be worked out for it.
