The bands have to stay facing each other. We are still a HBCU. Band heads and casual fans would have a hissy. Here's the graphic that was debated when Dee Todd was here. I thought was the perfect setup for Aggie Stadium and wouldn't have to be changed depending on who we played or how big the game was. Pluses: - Increases home side reserves.
- Allows for a lot more people to enjoy both bands.
- If you dont give a damn about the bands and still want to sit on the home side we still have general admission on the far end or get a reserve seat.
- More students can fit next to the band, which is where they want to be anyway.
- Students will probably overflow into sections O, P, and Q anyway.
- Sections A, B, and C are very good seats for game watching if you dont mind the visitors side and dont have a reserve ticket.
- The bands wouldn't drown out the PA system like they do now sometimes.
- One thing I hated as a student was if I didn't get to the game 2 or 3 hours early I couldn't sit in the "official" student section. This will help with that and probably increase attendance for students.
Only One NegativeOnly problem would be getting on and off the field. The band couldn't do "ThE Tunnel" anymore with this setup. But I'm sure they would come up with something. Would seem easy enough to put a set of steps in front of section T1 and they do the tunnel right on the track for everyone to see. They do that when they go away games anyway. But dont put the steps on the visitor's side so the other band has to walk around, LOL. Great Idea another idea to consider is putting the A&T band in section R and visiting band in G. it would balance out the stadium and it would allow the hype bandheads to be on both sides of the band. It would also set off the 5th quarter atmosphere. i went to the 2009 MSU@WSSU when WSSU had that set up and the game atmosphere was probably their hypest ever. Also, there's already a ramp in front of section Q which would cut down on cost and congestion.

Hey---Anybody that's in favor of what we have discussed please give us some input on how we can possibly make this a reality. The more that express their opinions the better chance of this happening. If done, I just think it is a BIG win for OUR team and FANS. Who is the best person to contact?? Can you do it?? Can we do it??? Open for suggestions!!!! Thanks!!

ITs an Interesting idea to move the Bands to the bowl, Like Aggie Monster's Design suggests. The Only issue i have is that the proposed new sutudent section is past the endzone and as someone who never missed a game from the section, they (students) would like to see the action also...
As for getting the band to and from the new section, would it be possible to construct a temporary ramp, that doesn't damage our track of course, for the band to use during the season?

This drawing isn't to scale. The student section is about the same place, but just on the other end. If it's that important just put the band in S(visiting band in F)and everything would be exactly the same. but reversed. They may do better in S anyway cause as someone stated their is a ramp already at Q. Only thing then would be that the students would be split by the band.

Do not forget about the ADA sitting where the ramp is around Section Q. The facility must remain ADA compliant. So if there are plans to move the band. there will have to be a plan in place to accomdiate a new ADA seating area to replace what will be taken over by the Band.

Isn't there also a ramp on H that would keep us compliant? Because building steps in front of the straight bleachers is not an option. The track goes all the way to the edge. Maybe they could create a temporary ramp/steps that they move into place for football game day. That's easy enough. Could you imagine the treat the people in the bowl would get during the band's exit off the field.

You would still have to figure a place to put the ADA patrons, especially during homecoming and rivalry games such as NCCU.

True, then temporary stairs that they can move would be the best solution. Also, after taking another look. Section T1 wouldn't work. it would have to be section R(same spot just opposite end). T1's back entrance splits the section and would split the band. Here is a better/real look, even shows the ramp. It leaves much better options for students in my opinion. Get there early and your in T1 or S. Get there a little late and your in Q, but you can choose to go to Z and have a better seat for game watching. If I was in charge, and I'm not. I would try this without changing the reserve sections at all to see how it works. Just leave the old band/student location(X, Y, Z) open for anyone. Just move the band and see how it goes. If it works then make sections X&Y reserves during homecoming.

I love the idea of moving the band closer to the the horseshoe (like AggieMonster did using Sections Q-R-S-T1)...but how about having the band face the pressbox and season ticketholders by using Sections E-F-G-H1-H2-H3? In fact, I would love to see the students using Section D3.

In fact, I would love to see the students using Section D3. that might seem wierd. Where would the visiting band sit? They still have to be facing. Also, reserves are sparse sometimes. The home side would see empty if we played Morgan at home in October with a 4-3 record. Its funny, the U was completed about 94-95 and I bet no one even thought about that location being better for the band after its completion. Or maybe they did and was just like screw it, no one will listen. Same as in 2008 when this first came up on this board. Is anyone on this board close enough to band leadership to know if they would be down with the change and if not, then why not? I'm sure all it would take is for the band director to approach the AD or Chancellor about it and its a done deal. The band would get to show out after half time right in front of the students and casual fans and would "win" every Saturday whether they got blasted on the field of not. The other band would have to go around.

If memory serves me correct, When this was brought up, sources inside the band were NOT on board with the "Vision." At that time I think "ReTodd" Wanted to move the band INSIDE the horseshoe while keeping the visiting band where they are now...something similar to what they do at SC State...
I'm all for moving the band on the other side of the home bleachers, at least for a trial run period, but it does seem like a logistical nightmare, especially with the absence of adequate entry points for the band, and the ADA issue.
The schools that i have observed in the setup that Monster proposed (lets call it the Jackson St Configuration) don't have tracks inside their stadium, which puts the bands and fans closer to the field...Also When moving the band, you are by default moving the Student section and so on and so forth

I wouldn't be see a point in moving them all the way INSIDE the U. No wonder they didn't like it. A temporary/removable set of stairs in front of T1 would solve the logistics issue though.

They don't call her "Retodd" because of her shrewd business sense and proficiency at being a division I Athletic Director... #kanyeshrug

The idea has been submitted to the athletic dept. for consideration from what my sources have said recently. Does not mean its a done deal but I am for it and errrrrrrbody I have talked to is for it. If it can be done it will be a REAL plus and it will help our stadium experience, not to mention the FOOTBALL team!!! Maybe somebody who knows the band honchos will enlkighten them and ask them to kindly make the switch.
