N.C. A&T: It turns out that N. C. A&T has not promoted Demetrius Adams to full-fleded defensive coordinator.
A&T said Wednesday that it had dropped the "interim" from Adams's title. Adams became the Aggies' interim defensive coordinator after Thomas Lavigne resigned two games into the season.
Thursday, the school said Adams remains the interim defensive coordinator. A school spokesman said A&T sent out Wednesday's notice prematurely.
The job posting remains in effect until Jan. 15, and the Aggies will make an announcement about their new defensive coordinator next month.
Adams played football at Southern Mississippi in the early and mid-1990s. He was defensive coordinator at Division II Ouachita Baptist before he was hired by A&T.

Damn, I don't know if I should be happy the search continues....or sad that mistakes like this are "public" knowledge. Dude was told he had the job now he doesn't...If some crap like that happened to me I'd be pissed.

I also heard that we did offer Petty the job and he wanted more money than we wanted to give him.

Getting Petty as DC would bring in a guy with years of head coaching experience. Sure...Fobbs is the boss, but the Petty knows the MEAC, has served as a head coach, and can bring more stability & leadership to the program. You get what you pay for...are we looking for a good coach or a cheap one.

It looks bad but I'd rather us be a lil red faced rather than make another bad decision. I've always beleived that you should correct an error as soon as possible. If we put the right person in place this gaffe will be short lived.

I wouldn't be surprised to see NCCU alum Robert Massey end up in Greensboro after he was let go as head coach at Livingstone last week. He has a lot of experience on that side of the ball as a coach and former pro and help build what NCCU has right now as a defensive backfield coach.

Nevermind. I just learned from an A&T insider that this was just a procedural mix-up.
Adams is still being promoted to the DC job, but the school can't officially make that annoucement until after Jan. 15. Some sort of state hiring rule. That's the reason why they had to rescind Wednesday's press release.
Adams will still be the permanent defensive coordinator.

I had a feeling that's what it was about. Still I can't agree with this move. Right now I think we need a defensive coordinator with a proven resume to take on the job. I'm sure Coach Adams will be a great head coach one of these days but right now I don't see anything in his background as a coordinator that suggest's he will be successful as our defensive coordinator. Hiring folks based on potential is always a little risky. Anyways good luck to him.

How can it be a state hiring rule when his salary is not from state funds? Why does NC State not have a "state hiring rule". This is ridiculus.

Well I 'm going to support Fobbs but I don't agree with the the status quo. We needed a proven veteran coordinator. We don't have that much time to be wasting. I hope he workout because Fobb third or forth year there will be no excuses.

I don't kow if the procedures are different for contractural employees (Head Coaches for FB, WBB, MBB, and AD's) but for assistant coaches, Olympic Sport coaches, and other staff (@ A&T), the job must be posted for a specific time frame.
