I called my friend in SC today, an Aggie and former DB for the Aggies in the 80's. I asked him about Gist since he lives nearby the area. He has seen Gist play many times and he was at Byrnes playoff game last week. He thinks Gist is a decent runningback and sated that Gist can catch the ball out of the back field but he sees Gist as only a player who may add depth to a college football team. He stated Gist is undersize and he does not have 4.4 sec-forty yard speed, I may add very few high school kids do. He stated that Byrnes is a highly talented team and most of the recruiting focus are on the other players who are more talented than Gist.

Aggiejaz hit it on the head. I seen Gist on film and he is not a 4.4 on the field. I'm not saying he didn't do it on the track, but I've seen a legit 4.4 on the field and he didn't look like one. Anybody watch the Riverside vs Garver game Saturday night. That cornerback for Riverside (#2 Brandon Nelson) is a legit 4.4. Gist didn't have the same burners as this guy. Nelson is just "paper thin" though.

Let's not downgrade our potential recruits in public! It doesn't look good at all.

Let's not downgrade our potential recruits in public! It doesn't look good at all. What, no simpathy for the current players I am a former athlete and I wouldn't want anyone to denigrate my skills either. My intent is not to denigrate any high school athlete and I get tired of sitting in the stands hearing grown men say nasty things about the young men playing. I have asked guys to ease up on what they say about the players. I also wouldn't want someone to give people the impression I am the next Michael Jordan when I averaged 10 points a game. A&T coaches have a hard time relying on the alumni to determined if they want to expend their limited resources investigating a recruit because of Alumni tendercy toward exaggeration of the facts, bad or good.

What about the players on the team now? LOL!! Just JOKING!!! Those bums don't count! Jes playin. Seriously though I may have been guilty of it in the past, but I don't think so. I don't like singling out players PUBLICLY for ridicule. Coaches on the other hand are free game.

Weslye got attitude issues though. He needs to straighten that out before going to college. The coaching staff has had to "check him" a few times this year. Suspended one game and sat him for a half in another. Awesome athlete though.
To answer your question about Nelson though. He hasn't had any offers yet. He has jets but missed the first 3 games of the year with a fractured ankle. Then he was suspended a game for throwing a punch the last time they beat Garner. He could easily slip under the D1 radar because of that, but I think them making it to the State championship may change that. Riverside is clearly a better team with him at corner. He is a "lock down guy", so it allows them to play more in the box. They still wont have a chance against Independence though.

This link will take you to some video of both Wes and Brandon Nelson. IT really shows how they stand out. Click on Riverside Pirates and then click on the Person County game. Nelson is #2 with the interception return. Wes is unmistakable at 6"5 270 WR www.fnfrdu.net/

So if he is not 4.4, is he really 5'8"...? But it does seem that every hs rb runs 4.4....what did hicks run? Hollingsworth?? I guess whether he can help you is does he run or tip to the line. Coaches have got to look em over and make the judgement . in the famu chat room , they list all the players that have an interest in famu or that they are recruiting...fans of BCCU SEND THE LIST TO Wyatt... they also send athletes on the list many of the negative things said about coach carter and his staff.....wonder if it matters....the kid 6-5 275 CENTER...committted to NC STATE BEFORE LAST SUMMER...hard to believe that a coach would not recruit a player unless the rules did not allow it...but send Fobbs the post
