Am I the only one who thinks that it is absurd that we are paying Fobbs (unproven headcoach on any level) this much money ? The main focus should be on our student athletes...training, proper nutrition and meal table, rather than significantly overpaying a coach. I also saw our team making a mile walk from the cafeteria to the field on game day, which is also unacceptable. These are not the things that a first class program does. Why would a recruit want to come here when it is run like a high school operation ?We need to get this thing back on track and get our priorities back in order. My two cents for the day. -Jaffe

Dude, everyone on the board can list a million things that are wrong with our program right now. The question is what are your suggestions for how we can fix those problems.

When coach Hayes was here they had to walk a mile from the cafeteria to the field on game day. So what is your point?

Yes, we overpaid for him from the jump. I'm pretty sure his bosses didn't expect him to be 0 and 10 his 1st season.
I'm looking for Fobbs to hire some new assistants to hopefully try to rectify the situation. He's gotta bring the new assistants in sooner rather than later. It's recruiting time.

The mile walk as you put it is a new tradition started by Coach Fobbs in an effort to build unity within the team. They eat their pre game meal together and afterwards walk to the fieldhouse. there is nothing wrong with the food in the cafe. (There certainly is enough of it as well as a decent variety) They dress in a first class manner (uniforms, etc..) and travel on buses that I think are the envy of the conference. I with Thrilla, we know what the problems are, how about some help with the solutions

Jaffe,
Your two cents for the day is totally off base(in left field somewhere) and probably two cents more than youve given to the program to help make things better.. As for your absurd comment about them making the walk from the cafe as being unacceptable.. Whats unacceptable about it? Just about EVERY D-1 program in the country does their pre-game walk... sooo youre totally off base.. Then again.. as for you two cents... lilke i said its probably two cents more than youve given to the program to help improve the situation so Id take a stab at saying hang on to your two cents until you decide to help make it better.... Oh by the way Im sure if you or your company want to help sponsor training table or even joining the Aggie Club.. the AD would love to talk to you

Jaffe,
We all feel the frustation. Now is the time to channel that energy into ways to support our programs. Here's what I'm doing: all the years I've given to A&T, the large majority went to academics. For 2007, the large majority will go to athletics. Both endeavors need funds, but at this time, I feel our athletic department needs it more.

I did a similar thing by changing my monthly bank draft to 50/50 general and athletics. But I can’t help but notice only Hawkeye addressed the $165k (the title). And the rest of you nimrods ;D got caught in the “walk to the caf” like it was some “trail of tears”. The walk to caf ain’t even an issue that needs addressing. The $165k, well ain’t nothing can be done about that now, except, hopefully a lesson learned. But let jaffejoffa vent. The only person that should give a crap about how much jaffejoffa gives to the University is jaffejoffa. Giving is not a prerequisite having an opinion, especially not in this forum, if so we would be down to about ten posters. Yeah lets make that a rule, you can only post if you get certification of Giving from the University. As far as knowing the problems, who know the problems? The super secret organization may know the problems. But as an Aggie Club member and a contributor to the University, and a member of the local Alumni Chapter, I haven’t heard what the problem is, or a plan is to fix the problem, either verbally or through correspondence. One thing the Athletic Department could do is reach out to season ticket holders, gold helmet, victory club, aggie club members with a request for a $25 (or more) monthly bank draft to establish an athletic endowment, for scholarships, to bring back and sustain mens tennis, etc. . I don’t know what the total memberships of those groups are, but if a 1000 agreed that’s $300k a year ($25k a month).

As this is an anonymous forum and you guys dont know me...You have no idea how much I have given to this program in recent years..And Im just comparing the state of this program to other similar programs (the we recruit against) around the country. Some of yall are clueless to how 18-22 yr old kids view a program, which is much different than a 40 yr old guy who sits behind a computer. And I was told that this so called "unity" walk is b/c the school gave the parking rights traditionally held for the student athletes on game days to other ppl. I just think that some of the decesions that are made around AggieLandkeep taking us a step backwards and everything starts with leadership....

I am going to do my "alumni giving" within the next few days for this fiscal year. I am told that if I send my check to the Foundation and designate exactly where I want it to go, it will get there instead of the general fund or the athletic big pot. I want to earmark my giving this year to couple of sports and general fund.
I believe in giving to university and I don't mind complaining about things that are not done right. I did not always get good customer service out of the university administration staff when I attended A&T but I am here to give a testimony that A&T helped me a lot when I needed them to do so. I give direct credit to the School of Engineering. I know this is not everyone's story.
I don't begrudge anyone's salary. Just be prepared to do the job right and take the criticism. It comes with the job and it has always have been that way. Now, instead of people sitting around the potbelly stove at the barbershop or the general feed and seed store shooting the "gibb' we can do it on computer for the whole world to read.

How much would it cost to pave the entire tail gate area behind the fieldhouse? It would look much better if that was all asphalt.

Here again we have someone talking about a whole lotta stuff they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about.. The schoo didnt give away any parking spaces to anybody. So whoever the source was on that is a garbage source to have.. Secondly why hate on a mans salary.. If you could get 165 for doin a job youd take it and do the best you can with what you have. The fact of the matter is there are no programs to really compare us to because of our demographic and our culture of not giving. Now we can all respect everyones opinion and thats fine to have one but how about trying to rationalize it out in your head before saying something that is absolutely insane.... ( the students parking spaces were given away .. prime example...).. why do they need to park down there anyway? And just for the record.. there is/was and always will be parking down there for the team on game day.. as a matter of fact they all parked their cars( or some of them did) behind fitness and wellness and walked back to the cafe.... sooo there again i say.. make sure your statements are facts... not ghetto supposition...!!!

Couldn't they just march around on the paved asphalt? It's not like they are getting tackled or anything.
