I was told that there are some people at A&T that are upset with Robinson because he took 3 recruits with him to VCU. Has any of you heard this and is it in fact true? And if it is true, who are the 3 recruits??

I think Amber Calvin and the two other girls we have coming in next year already signed LOIs. I don't think it could be them.
Anyone else we were looking at for 2010 would be fair game, I guess.

VCU hasn't made an official announcement yet and I think Terrell was still finishing up some things at A&T last week.
VCU would not signed any of A&T's recruits that they, themselves, haven't recruited.

I hope it's not true, but these things happen when coaches get jobs at another school. Can you say coach Lee!!!!!!!

Yeah, I told you guys that karma would come back to get us when Lee and Berry did Morgan State dirty.
I just didn't think it would happen this soon.

but i tend to agree with you thrilla. the '09 recruiting class is already inked, so they're pretty much locked in with us.
but as far as the 2010 class is concerned, i think its still early enough that we can recover from a loss recruit or two. i don't think the first wave of 2010 recruits sign loi until around october/november...

And if it is true, who are the 3 recruits?? This should surprise no one. He's the lone recruiter. The kids and their parents like/know him. If he says he's leaving, then naturally they will follow him. I'm not saying some shouldn't be upset but they should not be surprised. The guy is a magnet for talent. And just because players are locked in, I don't think we should take that lightly either. Coming to T half heartedly can be just as bad as not coming at all. Keep in mind that several of the CURRENT players are being very vocal about their dissatisfaction of him leaving. I'm sure Bibbs and the "new guy" can/will keep it under control, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on it. Take note of Duke and Maryland both being down talent wise after their top recruiters left. For the record, I'm not saying that we will be down, I'm just saying we should keep an eye out.Robinson has one or two coming that no one is talking about. We'll be ok next year.

VCU would not signed any of A&T's recruits that they, themselves, haven't recruited. It's a done deal. And the thing about Robinson is that the caliber of player he was going after was so high that virtually, all mid majors and up (in some cases) were recruiting the same ones. That was his key to success. His bar was super high. For instance, Nikia Gorham. A 6'2" strong rebounder and defender. Several schools offered this kid and she'll be pulling into Greensboro next year. If I remember, that was a complaint by some the critics of this year's roster (size). Well there you go. lol

I heard he had some transfers that were looking to come here. Maybe they are the ones who will follow him to VCU now.

I always thought that Robinson would have been the perfect replacement for Bibbs when she retired. He may have even been a good choice after Eaves also. Hope he hasn't done anything to mess up those possibilities.

If it is true and those recruits stated to him that they wanted to go with him and he could make it happen for them then you can't blame him. I mean, thats the way the coaching game is played!! I wish the brother lots of luck.

I always thought that Robinson would have been the perfect replacement for Bibbs when she retired. Heck, he still will be. Even moreso now. But I don't know how close you guys have analyzed it, but VCU's coach has done pretty well. If he's able to go in and help take that program to the next level like he did at T..........then he could be tremendously valuable to ALOT of schools. I'm so happy for the guy. WB needs to keep his eye on him. If Bibbs hires the guy at Hampton, I'm a little concerned that he'll come in eyeing the number 1 spot from the beginning. But I think that with the exception of Robinson, all of her assistants took over the program when she left. So, things will be OK.

i don't think there's any chance bibbs will be hiring walter mebane, hampton's former women's coach, as her assistant. i don't think we normally pay our assistants enough to be able to afford mebane, which is "probably" why robinson is taking the vcu gig...
