I agree, the game was quite Dry. something just didn't seem "Right" in the atmosphere. It seemed like people were there "just because" rather than to support the teams

i blame our team, and wssu’s fans the most for the dull atmosphere. i blame our team because for 35 of the first 40 minutes of the game, our team didn’t give us very much to get excited about. no dunks or anthing! last year rush got the crowd hyped early on by knocking down 3 consecutive “long range” 3’s. plus, we had loss 2 consecutive football games to winston and had zero wins against them during that time. so our crowd had revenge reasons to be motivated for last year’s game. this year we beat them in football and blew them out in basketball at their place, so our crowd was more subtle.
and i blame wssu’s fans this year for the dull atmosphere too because unlike last year, they were virtually “silent”! as if to say, “we know our team sucks and we got an ear full from the corbett crowd last year, so let’s shut the phuck up!” they raised no hail at all! i think they were scurd! ‘cause they knew if they raised any hail whatsoever, corbett would have immediately come alive!

Blame the team and WSSU fans? How about blaming our fans? If we're supposed to have one of the best environments in college basketball, we shouldn't need a dunk to get us pumped and into the game.

I think the organizational structure of the Maniacs dissolved when Keith left. I know he worked very closely with them and kept them excited about coming to the games and acting a fool. They would have a bunch of meetings before big games and actually practice what they were going to do to the heckle the opposing teams. Just like the Cameron Crazies meet and go over cheer sheets. I think now the Maniacs mostly just wing it.
Keith was also the main person who was trying to make sure everyone wore gold at the game, since the whole solid gold campaign was his baby. He would walk around and invite people who were wearing gold and sitting in the second deck to come down to the reserved seats so that it would look better.
I am not sure if the new marketing lady is taking on that responsibility, but I think someone needs to concentrate more on organizing the Maniacs and improving the game ops.

I think now the Maniacs mostly just wing it. The Maniacs still meet like that, they're just not doing their job. Because Keith was so on top of them, I think they expect someone to hold their hand. That's not anybody's responsibility. The Maniacs should be hype because they have Aggie Pride and support our teams, not because of all of the perks or because someone spoonfeeds them. Nobody does that for the Cameron Crazies and even the Live Wire for that matter. Either you have pride and want to support your team or you don't! And if you don't, then find another organization to join!

If you're there to support your team, wear some freakin paraphernelia or the school colors! You think someone has to ASK anybody to wear all that Carolina Blue??? Crazy!!

What happened to the Aggie mascot/costume?? It's been missing since the end of football season...and it would be hott if the big NC A&T flag was to be flew across the court at the start of the game...the crowd usually responds to the flag

I was on the floor, sitting between the band and the Maniacs. It was very quiet down there. It was mostly girls who didn't care for or didn't want to follow the game. I had some headphones on and missed the girl's game due to a lil line at the barber shop.
But if people enforced a rule of wearing gold to go on the lower level, if not an Athlete or brought a Reserved Ticket, it might get a lil better cause I hate sitting up there. I like to be close to the action cause i actually follow the team.

Apathy is alive and well on the campus. Many students don't even know when games are played. It is not necessarily the happening place to be. If you will note, sometimes students start to leave in the second half with 15 minutes to play. Go figure.

I love that idea. You must wear gold to sit in the student sections behind the baskets.

If we're supposed to have one of the best environments in college basketball, we shouldn't need a dunk to get us pumped and into the game. decks, i wasn't really serious about that. i was kinda joking, even though there's plenty of validity to what i said. i think there's several factors (not just one) that contributed to such a dull atmosphere. first, the pa announcer did a very poor job of hyping up the crowd. with a soldout corbett crowd on hand and arch rivals in the house, the pa announcer should have had the house rockin'! plus, the cheerleaders didn't do a good job hyping the crowd either and the pep band didn't really have a lot of pep. in addition, folks just aren't very festive at 2pm and 4pm in the afternoon. then add my previous comments regarding us having no revenge factor, our team lacking excitement and winston's fans deemed silent, and there ya have it. all of the above things "combined" is the reason the atmosphere was so dull. it was totally the opposite of that last year. i mean, corbett was completely off the hook last year and the pep band wasn't even there! but our crowd "desperately" wanted revenge, winston's crowd was talking smack, and our team provided a bunch of fireworks! to me, that's the difference between last year and this year...

you have got to get wssu cheerleaders in corbett... they are not afraid to get out on center court & do their thing... alot of us on the board suggested both squads square off against each other in between timeouts... not to see who had the best cheers so to speak.. but who had the best dance routines...
i like our cheerleaders alot... but its hard to get them off that baseline & out to half court... heck... the people who sit behind them up top can't even see them on the baseline... & there are other spots in corbett where its hard to see them on the baseline...
wssu cheerleaders are used to being center stage at games & their sense of timing for what they can get accomplished during media timeouts is outstanding....
i never thought i'd be agreeing with getuprams... but the main thing missing in corbett were the ladies of wssu... period...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
