Decks, as an ambulance chaser I can almost guarantee you that the lawyers planned to blame A&T and Sidney just went along for the ride in order to save his son. That being said, I can also almost guarantee you that he did it halfheartedly at best (as evidenced by the total lack of direct quotes giving any blame specifically to A&T).
c'est la vie...

I just got this in my in box. It was sent to the guy at the Raleigh News & Observer. This is exactly how I felt and feel it should be handled:
We can thank our fine as wine National Prez for that.
What's y'alls opinions? I like it.

You know where I stand, I'm now confused where you stand. Are you now suggesting that this guy can be the mouse piece for the Lowe Family? This letter carries the same sentiments I and others expressed in this thread and I was under the impression that your mindset was that Aggies should sit this one out. Are doing a fencewalk? Though I think the tone from Madam President was a little harsh (as it relates to parenting), but the content and subject matter are on point. What is wrong with posing the same sentiment to Mr. Lowe and family? After all, they are credited with the comments, not Mr. Alexander.

Naw, my thing was if you're going to let somebody have it, let the paper or the lawyers have it, not Lowe via his e-mail address. The letter is sent to the dude at the paper. That being said, I would've left Sidney out of it myself, but otherwise I haven't changed my thoughts. I don't support attacking him for something he ain't said.
Again, the comments that Lowe is "credited" with ain't bad until you put them into a context that makes them offensive, which the paper did (in some folk's opinion). That ain't Lowe's fault and I don't feel like he should have to apologize for what he ain't say.
What's wrong with posing the same sentiment to Lowe 'n 'em? Easy. It makes no sense to go to them and say "I don't like what the paper insinuates you meant." The paper did it and the paper should be dealt with, if you have to deal with somebody.

Dude's @ss must be burning. He already responded: I can buy this explanation. I just think El Sid should come forth with a similar statement and put this issue to rest.

I think it's very interesting that the dude representing the paper put it in a totally different light than the article did. That is the way the article should have been written if they were planning to use the quotes instead of painting it as the Lowe down dirty shame.

I wonder if everyone that sent e-mails are as long as the one sent by Pam? If they are, this cat "Chip" has probably stop reading them. I know one thing, he sure sent a short response.

I think Lowe should do what any of us would do in his situation. Be happy his son got off super easy and put everything behind him. He's gotta be thinking that a couple p'd off people at A&T is no skin off his back, especially since some them blew up his email account.
Back to Fiasco Fobbs already.

Homemade knife found in Lowe's cell By Jennifer Fernandez Staff Writer Thursday, July 24 updated 8:06 am
GREENSBORO - Deputies found a homemade knife Monday in the cell of Sidney Lowe II, the son of the N.C. State men's basketball coach, Sheriff BJ Barnes said Wednesday.
The knife, made from metal and a plastic spoon, was found during a routine, random search of cells at the Guilford County jail, Barnes said .
No one was injured, he said.
In a statement released Wednesday evening, Lowe's attorneys said their client had been threatened by other inmates and called a snitch.
"Sid was scared out of his mind and used some scraps of plastic and metal, which he found in his cell, to try to make something with which to defend himself in case of an attack," Locke Clifford and Joe Cheshire said in the statement. "He did not try to hide it from the jailers. We are sure that he will soon earn Sheriff Barnes' confidence and will be sent to the county farm to finish serving his sentence."
But Barnes said he has no immediate plans to move Lowe, whom Barnes put in an isolated cell at the jail after his sentencing last week.
A judge sentenced Lowe, 23 , to 15 months at the Guilford County Prison Farm for his role in a March 16, 2007, home invasion and a March 24, 2007, shooting at a UNCG dorm room .
The farm is a minimum-security facility in Gibsonville that houses 50 to 60 inmates during the week and up to 100 on weekends, Barnes said. The inmates live in dorm rooms and can move about the 800-acre farm with minimum supervision.
By comparison, jail inmates live eight to a cell, Barnes said; the cells are built to house four. There also are single-person cells that can be used when necessary, as in the case with Lowe, he said.
A typical offender sent to the prison farm has failed to pay child support or committed a DWI, he said.
"I don't put felons or folks who commit other violent crimes at the farm," Barnes said. "I can't put somebody out there who had a propensity toward violence."
Barnes said he explained his concerns to Superior Court Judge Henry Frye Jr. , who sentenced Lowe to the farm. The sheriff has the authority to assign inmates where he sees fit.
Barnes said he separated Lowe when he arrived at the jail because of "his notoriety."
Lowe's sentencing last week - and the appearance and testimony of his father, Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe - drew a number of reporters and others curious about the case.
Frye gave Lowe a more lenient sentence than offenders in most similar cases. Lowe's defense attorneys argued that extraordinary mitigation allowed the judge to go below the state's minimum sentence for the charges.
Frye warned Lowe that if he got into trouble, he had 11 years of a suspended sentence hanging over his head.
The incident at the jail falls under a disciplinary action report, Barnes said. If Lowe had used the homemade knife, he could have faced criminal charges, Barnes said.
If he gets another disciplinary report, Barnes said, "we'll have to take a good, hard look at how he's treated and where he's placed."
Barnes was not sure how long he would keep Lowe separated at the jail.
Whether Lowe will make it to the prison farm, as Frye had ordered, remains to be seen.
"I can't put somebody out there, for example, that they're going to have to be leery of or that may cause a problem for the community," Barnes said.

From: Sidney Lowe <srlowe2@gw.fis.ncsu.edu>
Subject: My family and I would like to personally apologize to anyone who was offended by previous statements that were attributed to us regarding North Carolina A&T. Moving away to college presents any students, on any campus, with new and unique challenges. The comments were intended to reflect our wish that my son could have stayed closer to home for school. We have the utmost respect for North Carolina A&T as an educational institution and meant no harm by the statements.
